as much as these things fail i dont think id use a 'used' one unless i have a new one on the way from a vendor.

All these Chinese parts have a tendency to fail. Times are tough for me. Yes...even $10 tough.

You can bridge the 2 post on top to start it with a screwdriver...or shade tree mechanic fix I have seen used...buy a single pole light switch(about 98 cents)..wire one pole of the switch to each solenoid post...turn key on...then flip light switch(mounted under seat in luggage are) until engine cranks and starts..then flip it back off.

That switch idea sounds like a win. I'll try that. Remember..a light switch...small toggle switches will not work...they can't handle the current..
