NoHo is not alone, many business owners pulled the plug since the election results...

Does anyone know why they are closing and why they didn't sell the business?

NoHo is not alone, many business owners pulled the plug since the election results... Yeah right. I think people use that as an excuse for lots of stuff. That thread never said that though. Sometimes businesses just don't make it. It's capitalism at work. Sounds like the owner still has a positive outlook, and that will serve him well.

If you do some quick cocktail napkin "cyphering".. it isn't hard to see that running a scooter shop isn't a gold mine.
Figure with rent, utilities, communications and insurance it's safe to say it runs well in excess of $30,000 a year to keep your doors open.
Lets say you gross a $500 profit on each 50cc, maybe $600 on a third tier 150cc , and maybe $800 on a Taiwanese scooter.
At a sales ratio of 50/30/20 of the above scoots, you need to sell some 30 50cc, 15 150's, and 10 first tier scoots...just to break even.
Of course , service work and parts bring in additional revenue. Forget about hiring anyone...the partners do all the work.
On a personal note...Western PA is not 50cc "friendly"...way too many hills. We sold 4 50's this past year. Factor in our 8-month (if we're lucky) riding season. We rely heavily on our sales of ATV's and pit bikes. I doubt we could survive as a stand-alone scooter shop.
All of this is to say I can see where NoHo might think of seeking new adventures.
