Hello....I am new to the board, so I am here in this thread to introduce myself.
My name is James Harwood. I recently bought a used Peace Sports 50cc scooter (2010). I enjoy upgrading and modifying things, so I am interested in learning what I can do to get a few more mph out of this slow dog.
Currently my scooter is not modified in any way. It gets about 28 -30 mph with my 220lb butt sitting on it in a straight away. There are lots of hills in my area of Atlanta, GA and going up hill I slow down to 10 mph lots of times.
I am considering first upgrading the carb, cdi, spark plug and exhaust. Any tips or advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks for reading...

In all honesty, a 180LBS person can be happy with wind still and flat ground to reach up to 40MPH on a 50cc. They're not motorcycles. It might be that you need to de-restrict your cycle, but if it already is de-restricted, I'd suggest to install a new carb, and a BBK kit. After that work on the variator and belt. So at least your 50cc will have a little more juice to work with, like a 75cc BBK will give you at least 50% more engine power. With anywhere from 63 to 75cc you might go 45-50MPH tops, and perhaps 35MPH instead of 10MPH uphill. With the right rollers and variator gearing, you might actually go faster than that!
