I was so excited today on the way to college i actually broke my previus top speed of 47mph gps i had a slight downhill no wind and hit 51 completely stock whooooo.
One question if i can hit 51mph stock what do you think i could get up to with some mods like bbk, air filter, upjet, new variator and weights

Have you tried installing a windshield (and removing the rear trunk if you have any)?

No trunk have not tried a windshield really do not like the way they look. If i could get one fitted that looks like a street bike windshield and tint it, that would be awesome

The main issue with a wind shield is to find one that is aerodynamic, and will cleave through most of the wind for you (will push the wind to the sides and to the top of the windshield).
A flat shield will not help your top speed at all.

I think the point of modding isn't just how fast you can go but how fast you can get to top speed. What good is 50 60 or 70 mph if it takes forever to get their

How long does it take to get to 51 mph?

TWO HOURS bent over like a pretzel and that is on a 45% downhill ;D. Top speeds are only valid on the Flats with no help from Hurricanes, Trucks, someone pulling you or someone pushing you. ;D Roll a ball downhill it picks up speed.

Wouldn't surprise me if it takes almost a minute, or 10 blocks to get to that speed. On a 2 stroke it is possible. On a 4 stroke, only with nitro! ;D

I would like to know who has the fastest 0 to 50 times with 50cc stock and 50cc modded scooters. Jazzman i'm sure you do bend over for a pretzel. Ha ha

How long does it take to get to 51 mph? Hi On my redstreak about 20 seconds for 50+mph and my april gets the same in about 15 if i give them all they have at a full throttle run from a dead stop ;D Aprils 2 t 50 cc engine is slightly quicker in acceleration then the redstreaks modded 95 cc 4 t engine but both do the job quite adequately Take care and ride safely Yours Hank

Asking people on a forum who has the fastest little 50 you will get so many numbers from low to high you will get confused. First of all not very many will do 50mph it depends on what scoot they have. Some are slow and some are faster than others, best to ask who has the fastest 0 to 30mph.

+1. Your 50MPH thread will probably only include 2stroke bikes, and an occasional fuel injected 4stroker.

So I keep it at 40.

11000 rpm is going to explode if it's a 4 stroke and pushing the limit of a 2 stroke. You should gear it down a bit.

10,000 rpms with out heavy duty springs on a 4t will float a valve. At a certain point your CVT runs out of legs and then youre doing engine speed, at 8500 rpms I would assume your CVT still had a few more MPHs left in it you just need to tune it a little more. Take a marker and mark the face of your variator going from the inside to the outer edge in 3-4 locations around it. Then go for another top speed run, take the cover back off after and see how far the belt rides up the side. You will know by how far the marker is gone. If it is completely gone youre now doing engine speed. 2ts can do a lot more than 8500 stock. Redline is more of a suggestion than a guidline as long as you have the proper oil and fuel. With this new top speed imagine what its going to be like with the new set up. I dont remember seeing a gear set in your list you sent but I would go taller if you can max it out stock.

It is a 2T and I am trying to up gear it...but the Minarelli Longcase Aerox style engine are hard to find gears for in the U.S....well more like...not possible. Many companies overseas carry them but have a disclaimer right on their website.."We do do not ship to the U.S."

You have to find a distributor here in the US, Have you tried the yamaha specific forums? A lot of the Malossi stuff I got was hard to find an importer for but found one through hondaspree.net maybe zuma forums has a secret vendor. I also found out that gears for a honda vision work for the kymco zx50 which only had polini options as far as I saw. It went from 10.5:1 to 6.89:1, high way machine.

The vision is the older sa50 honda elite in europe and asia, they recently re introduced it to europe I think last year. The engine my SC10AS kymco zx50 uses is a close clone of the Honda dio AF18 engine but the primary gears are swappable only with the AF05e engine found in the earlier models only. Fun time figuring that out.
