Windshield makes it different that's for sure. I like the way it keeps the wind of my body, and I like the way it reduces drag. Cruising on flat ground at 35 is just a crack on the throttle , got a couple MPH uphill also. Really, it's only effective at speeds of 25 and up so it WONT make your scoot do wheelies!!! The difference is really noticeable on down-hill coasting events, it just seems to roll a lot easier.Another plus is that seems like I got more respect from cagers, maybe they mistook me for a motorcycle for a moment. What I don't like so far is it redirects the wind...Right over the top of my helmet, making a LOT of wind noise where before it was pretty quiet with the shield down. Will continue to get the pro's n cons, but right now, I like it. Attachments:

Yes. Windshields are absolutely great. I ride alongside a river a lot, and the bugs are HORRIBLE. But, add windshield, and no more worries!

What windscreen did you end up getting? They are def ALOT more then I thought it would cost for one. Been thinking of getting a piece of acrylic and making a mold to form it with a heat gun or in the oven. But after I screw it up a few times I am sure that I would spend more then it would cost to just buy one.

Have about 75 miles with it now..It's been off and on 3 times now, adjusting the "universal" mounts. Finally got the height, rake, and curve just right. I have a mirror extender on the left side that created a challenge, but after looking at a few options I found one that works. I'm real happy with the results now, after a few adjustments the wind noise settled and became acceptable. Engine not working as hard, should see improvement in MPG's. This was 39.99 shipped on Ebay. The quality is pretty good, the hard-ware, though pretty weak does seem to have a lot of mounting possibilities. I dropped the shield itself on the concrete during one of the installs, not a scratch. Anyway you don't look thru the windshield, you look over it, the view is fine. And yep deflected a good size insect this afternoon.

Good to hear you like it. A windshield was one of the best investments I ever made for my Suzuki Marauder along with saddle bags. I got saddle bags for the scoot already, just need the shield now.

Can you post a picture from the front view ? Does it handle different ? I would think a screen would have more drag depending on its size and shape . Id keep an eye on the nuts holding it on

No I doesn't handle any different, but you do have to get used to seeing it there. When you lean into a turn you see the shield lean against the road, gives you perception of your angle. The only thing I worry about is my center stand is wrecked and yesterday it was pretty gusty, I kept thinking it was going to blow over when parked. There may be INCREASED drag at speeds below 25, but after that I'm positive it reduces resistance. My variator tops out @ 43..I've got more power but not variation so you wont see any top speed tests here. I'm set up for hill climbing and 25-35MPH with an occasional top out. But 25-35...just a crack on the gas. I like that. www.ebay.com/itm/Wildfire-Scooter-Moped-Windshield-FREE-SHIPPING-/230864671104?pt=Other_Vehicle_Parts&hash=item35c09b5180&vxp=mtrThis one is pretty short but looks good on a 50cc. Add me to the list of windshield lovers. I rode big cruisers for years, and our 250cc scooters are the first to have a screen.
Your scoot looks good with a windshield, by the way.

I think cagers tend to look upon anyone with more safety equipment (including a windscreen) as being more responsible, professional, mature....in a word ADULT, and therefore more worthy of respect, courtesy and consideration.

The windshields I see sold are for speeds <35MPH. On a good day, my scoot goes 40. I'm a bit worried about that, weak plastic flexing...

Yup - screen's rock!!
I did about 1500km hidden behind a screen that kept the rain, dirt and bugs off me, I never even needed to clean my visor once!!

Are they easily detachable, or mounted with screws?

Yeah there's no going back for me. My last ride of the weekend waas awesome. I said before it doesn't change the handling but at 40+mph it seems like it stabilizes the front end, maybe it's just me??? This shield attaches with tabs that screw under your mirrors, then you can rotate them around till you get the best position to mount the support rods. The support rods can be removed easily if you have a 12mm wrench handy. Then the whole shield can come off with them, leaving only the mirror mounted tabs on the bike. At first I had mine behind the mirrors, but after looking at it saw that it would be much better in front of the mirrors, the shield that is. It's a super simple system that worked for me, but being universal each will be a little bit different. And yes it flexes a little at speed, this shield is pretty soft, but I guess that's part of the universitality of it (new word).

Flags flying, leaves blowing, scoot scootin. Usually 20mph winds would ruin my ride, NOT with a windshield. 35 miles today great ride traffic seemed lighter than normal. Attachments:

I like the universal windshield I put on my Taotao. It flutters a little at speed, and the brackets are a little soft, letting it lean back some on the right side, but, nothing serious. It makes a big difference, IMHO.

My windshield is made of 1/16" polycarbonate, and doesn't flex at 60mph. Just a little bend in the windshield design keeps the air from making it flex. I don't recommend acrylic, it breaks easily. I was in a collision on a Honda scooter in 1989. I went through the windshield and it bent out of the way without damage. That windshield is still on the scooter. Thin polycarbonate (Lexan). Picture is from 1991, standard Heinkel windshield. Very helpful in the rain and cold. Attachments:

That is an awesome shield, I like the way it cover the hand grips and looks like it has the perfect deflection curve. How does it mount? What size motor in that sweet Heinkel?
