And it was good! This took waaaay to long to do. Had to take off 5 body panels to run the wires. But I did plan ahead and run some extra wires for lights in the read fender, and another wire for something that may come along down the road. Pretty happy with it. Total cost was about $25. Not too many details to tell. It's a set of $20 self-sticking, flexible, directional LED light strips from O'Riely Auto Parts, and a $3 switch. I was there buying a headlight for the girlfriends car and got a wild hair up my ass to finally put some lights on the scooter.
Doing something like this to a car is much easier, as everything is hidden under the hood. But on a bike you have to take off body panels to hide the wires. The bottom panel, the two front side quarter panels, the grill, and the panel above the floor board (behind the drivers feet) all had to come off. Getting them apart was easy, but putting it all back together was tricky.
Another little problem was the light strips are both the same, but because they are directional (the lights stick to the side of the fender, not the top, and shine down on either side of the wheel), one has wires coming out toward the front of the fender. The temporary solution was electrical tape. I'm going back with some 1/2" 3M zip tie stick pads. They hold up well in weather.
Oh, and I had to drill a 1/2 hole for the switch, which I can always cover up with a grommet or use spacers if I decide on a smaller switch.
The back lights are going on this weekend. The wires are already run, I just need to tie it all together and slap them on.

That looks pretty sweet! I'll have to keep it in mind as I mod out my scooter. I'll have to find some green ones.

I was going to do red to match the scoot, but local laws prohibit blue and red.
