So, I was late in the day, I missed lunch, and I was switching seats on my 96 Dio. I had the oil cap off, and a damn bolt fell RIGHT IN THE TINY HOLE!! Oh I was angry!! So, do I need to remove the whole bottle? Can I just drain the oil some how and just let it fall out the bottom? Gad I feel stupid!!

Do you think that'll work in oil?

If the bolt is made of steel i see no reason it shouldn't, the oil wont affect the magnetic field.

If not lesson learned, drain the tank and get the bolt back out. No need to make it any more complicated then it has to be.

The magnet worked great! I'm not sure why, but I didn't think it would work in the oil. Lol Physics is clearly not my strong suit!!
Thanks for all the input!!

They also make a claw like pick up tool that is non magnetic that I use a lot for picking up bolts when everything else around the bolt it metal, but glad the magnetic tool worked for you.
