Hello! I'm new to this forum, but not too new Scooters! I've heard great things.
So, I picked up a 1996 Dio the other day, it runs great, but the body is trashed. I found another Dio, with all nice body parts. The issue with the second Dio, is its an abandoned scooter I picked up at a Tow Yard.
It didn't come with keys!! It turns over, it has compression, but I have no key, so I cant start it.
So my question is, can I hotwire it?? Is there a way I can bypass the ignition? I'd love to get it running once I swap out all the panels just so I can have some fun with it!!
Thanks so much!!

Take the VIN numbers to a Honda dealer. Thet can look it up and give you the factory key. Or put cuffs on you.

Doubtful anyone will give that info out. It is too easy to do..and many of us have had scooters stolen.....so it is not something we share online in an open forum. Myself I have had 5 stolen when I was selling them new...2 recovered trashed....the others never seen. So do as suggested above.

It's definitely not stolen. It was left abandoned at a rental property. It was cleared with the RCMP(I'm from Canada) and I'm free to retitle it if I wanted. But it's like $300. Not really worth it.
So I'm hoping there is a way to start it without the key.

My cousin is a locksmith...he can open any locked door..even the ones where you need to swipe a card for access...Soooo...would you expect him to publish how in an open forum such as this? Does the military tell the location of their Special Ops troops?? No...because some things you just don't put out there for all to read and know.

Well maybe Hotwire was a poor choice of words. I just want to bypass the ignition. Is there somewhere I can learn how to do it? I was told I can simply remover the wireing harness from the ignition, and start the bike. Then, plug the ignition back in to lock the steering.

How about just replace the switch and seat lock with new ones that come with keys ?
