Petrol21...BINGO...BRAVO..that is what I was saying in so many words. It even talks about what you said in the wiki link. China has been building and moving lots of military items around strategically. We have been in near conflicts with them lately. They are angered by out mounting debt and do not wish for us to come to the aid of Taiwan. So apparently the OP needs to 'Pony up' as he stated and research the truth. Btw...know of anybody looking for a Hummer H3 Scooter? Heavy duty and good on trails and deep mud bogs..selling it for $10,000 under Kelley Blue Book...so a real steal at $36,210. Sorry carasdad but I'm not taking sides on this. Also, I usually like to read what you have to say and I find your stuff very informative but I say this without, and I repeat, without any disrespect to you but I feel you've been a little unreasonable on this subject. I don't know massscoot at all and I do not have any feelings towards him but I feel he was just curious and was asking a genuine honest question without being condescending about it and I feel you came out with both guns blazin'. Maybe the context of your comment wasn't understood since we have to read typewritten words but then you created this thread attacking people for buying $5000 dollar scooters. C'mon dude, you're better than that. And I don't feel I'm the only one thinking, "What's wrong with carasdad lately?" And again, I say this without any disrespect at all. Not asking you to take sides....as there are 'no sides'...I was just happy to see another that understands this worlds state of affairs...and was not blind to it. Also I did not come out 'guns a blazing'...it was in jest... I do not go in Harley forums and ask why they ride what they ride..so the question confused me as it seemed demeaning to we 'cheap' scooter riders... Like you said...things in text are not always taken correctly. Remember in school when assigned to read a book..then when the teacher asked each student what the plot was about..and she got about 15 different answers?..Well...same on this one..

Carasdad: Let it go...It's done. You shouldn't have started this thread in the 1st place.

Carasdad: Let it go...It's done. You shouldn't have started this thread in the 1st place. I am letting it go.... btw...you should have started your thread in the 1st place as well...so all over n done... Make today great...Glenn Semper Fidelis Please. My original thread was "sincere" unlike yours Glenn. I was articulate in my questions & didn't make light of any & all Chinese scoots. You took a defensive posture right from the get-go. Many people here even told you that you're acting with malice. I love this forum & will continue to be a part of it. One can learn many new & interesting knowledge, regardless of which scoot brand they own. Let's just steer clear of each other, that should work IMHO.

Hi y'all, I was raised on late 70's 2-stroke rice-burners. I have a special fondness for them and always will. (I cannot forget my first of many stupid stunts that ended in major road rash & basically major embarrassment!) I've ridden just about everything & now that I am officially a middle aged fart I want one bike that has it all, comfort, enough ponies to make you grin & enough protection to stay dry and comfy. I fell in love w/the Tmax the first time I saw it, I even loved it more the first time I rode it. Finally after saving up all my "toys" money I have about 7K which allows for just about anything in good used condition. I am torn between a Harley and the Tmax. The Tmax has more of what I want but I am unsure of a couple of things that are not issues w/any Harley cuz they always keep their value, more or less.(I am anal-retentive w/preventive maintenance!!) OK, sorry for the long story, just needed to paint ya my picture. Here are my concerns over the Tmax and I would appreciate all and any info everybody wants to throw in, good/bad just be honest Longevity: the Tmax was only made for 3 years (plus Canada w/535) I'm worried about how long parts will be available and/or the Tmax becomes obsolete.(I believe it has a strong following which may keep it going???) 1. What is the highest mileage anybody has heard these things can go before needing a full rebuild? (good maintenance & sensible driving are a given) Could it go 100K w/excellent maintenance? On the same note, what ya guys figure a realistic life-span for these things? That's were Harleys got an edge, you just keep re-building them w/upgrades. 2. Can I trust a Tmax to cross country riding it sensibly? What's the longest trip anybody has taken w/theirs? 3. Finally the "cool factor" We all know Tmaxs can rock when driven hard. But do ya guys thing the general public (as in chicks get a first impression that these are for girl thingys? (Until they actually ride one and find out how comfortable they are versus the vibrating, tiny hard-seated Harleys, or maybe that is why chicks dig them, they're basically a 450 pound vibrator!!!) So I guess I could have simply asked: Tmax vs. Harley...pros and cons?? I warned ya I was anal-retentive! Peace, ride hard, live longer, boulonman

i'd say if you are serious with scootering buy a Japanese or european scoots, but if youre not then just buy a disposable chinese scoots. im talking based from my 24yrs of riding experience.

This is a pretty easy one but here goes... Why buy expensive name brand over cheapo China-scooter?? 1. Built with better materials 2. Can actually achieve advertised claims, (milage, speed, etc) 3. Does not leave you stranded!!!! 4. Does not constantly break down!!! 5. No worrying about breaking thin brittle plastics! 6. Should you need repair shops will be happy to assist instead of locking the doors when they see China-scooter!! Basically China-scooter is a barely rolling bag of dung and you only buy it if... 1. You don't know any better. 2. Like tinkering and don't mind carrying your tool box everywhere you go. 3. Your a hobbyist who is looking for a project. If your the average consumer (like me) you just want it to work period! Twist n go ya know? You just won't get that with China-scooter.
