I've said before I only ride for pleasure, well it was a pleasure to ride my scooter to work today. It's not that far, it's just a lot more work than jumping in the car and getting on the freeway. Been thinking about it for awhile and the summers winding down, it was now or never. I got off to an early start because I wasn't sure how long it would take me to get there. I ended up getting there 35mins. early! Honestly wasn't looking forward to the ride home, it's down-hill there and up-hill back plus it got windy with a temp of 91*. But once I mounted my steed it was ON! I saw a few follow riders and we beeped and waved. As I turned onto my street I wanted to keep on going, but knew the wife was anxiously awaiting my return, she didn't think we could make it. Everybody I told could not believe I rode my scooter ALL the way to work. Geeze it was only 14 miles each way! Last weekend I put 103mi. on my scooter between sat and sun, what's 14miles?? Anyway will be doing it more often. Dawg. Attachments:

Nothing like a place to clear you head before work and after work. I love my scoot.

Reason I got my first scoot in 2009 was to commute to work (12miles each way). Save big bucks over operating cost of our van.
Careful, though -- it's addictive. On my third scoot (Buddy 150 to SYMRV250 and now Majesty 400). Now I invent excuses why it's necessary to scoot rather than to cage.

I wish I could go with my bike, however I don't think riding a 50cc scoot, with a suit (not even mentioning rain here), will look well..
But if I could I'd get rid of our second car, saves us hundreds of dollars on insurance, and gasoline!

Yup - commuting via scooter is what the modern advanced countries do lots of - look at Taipei on youtube for examples!!
I commute every day on a scooter and it's about 10 miles each way - it's just nice to be independent of other people and traffic, and somehow a lot more fun to ride two wheels than four!!

I've been commuting by scooter or motorcycle for years. Now that I'm in the city, the only other alternative is the city bus, which I hate. I ride as long as the roads aren't icy. My co-workers think I'm a little nuts, but it beats paying $800.00 a year for parking. : )

Thumper, I hear you. I'm riding my bike to work come rain or shine. If it SNOWS, though, that's a bit different. And ice. I would hate to damage my new scooter (or myself) so I'll be taking the bus on those extra bad days (and maybe catching a ride home from a co-worker if they are nice enough.) Thankfully I only live about 3 miles from work.
