Curious as to what they do...make the 'upshift' smoother?

Yes it does not have the contra spring bind up .
A copy of thread where I read about it I used a stock torsion spring because none of the longer aftermarket springs would fit with it. They all would overlap and bind when i compressed (opened) the pulley, limiting belt travel a bunch! I wasnt real thrilled about using a stock spring. That is until i rode the scooter and felt the smooth shifts up and down at any speed. It was right back on target RPM every time i hit the throttle.
CVT set-up is, Hoca vari with about 3-4mm of shims, new Parts For Scooters belt (not bando BTW, even though it looks to be in the pic), 5g Dr.Pulley sliders, the Parts For Scooters torsion control and stock spring. Stock clutch and bell with S6 reds.
I really like this style torsion control! Ive used the Malossi single piece ones with good results, but ive never felt this kinda gain!

I just got done installing ball bearings in the seat of the stock base, covering them with a galvanized circular plate with 44mm id. Amazing difference! The local hardware store only had 9 bb that fit, I'll be filling the ring when they get more. The galvanized flange came from the plumbing isle, and I used two opposing each other. They actually had a little recessed area that kinda worked like a race.
Now I just need a stronger torque spring narrow enough for the jog90. The one I got from scrappy is too wide, even though my mod accomodates ithe, it presses the clutch pads outwards so the bell barely fits...
Anyhow, I'd try this if you want way smoother shifting, and better take off from the tension created by the narrower space from the bb. Fun cheap mod that is effective!
