Well I wear prescription eyeglasses with almost a grand in 3 pair of them . I have severe eyes and have to get the thinner polycarbonate since Im almost legaly blind and standard lenses would be Coke bottles . I have a pair thats like motorcycle googles with padding all around the lenses , they work great for blocking wind , Sun and glares but too dark tinted for night use .
2nd pair is rec specs with Transitions with antiglare coating and both sides were digitized ( their wording not mine ) so its like the ones on tv ads that are clearer in conditions where most would be blurry . Even with ultra thin lenses my long eyelashes can get pressed against the lenses at high speeds and mess up my vision . Tried stick on nose pads sorta worked but far from perfect.
My 3rd pair is normal style with small shape lenses . Whats weird is my 70 dollar frames got bent and the screw stripped out so I Super Glued it in . When I wore a blalclava the right lense would pop out . I can not drive at all without them . I bought a pair of cheap frames at Wally World for 9 bucks and wow they are superior to my over priced ones from an eye doctor . I have to go to a REAL doctor as I am beyond standard optometrists . My ophthalmologist told me if mine were any stronger that I could see into the future lol . Im a -8 and -9.5 it only goes to -10 .
Well long ago I had contacts and found some generic Blue Blockers that included a pair of night time driving glasses . Wow they really worked on almost no glare from on coming headlights or glare in the rain . The newer blueish headlights blind me and I think they should be banned . Most street lights use a halide bulb which is also whiteish blue and glares to me . A nearby city they have amber streets lights and its much easier on my eyes . Anyways the nightime glasses were awesome for me and I wish I could have gotten some prescription ones with light amber or yellow tint that were polarized and had antiglare coating . If you were eyeglasses opt for the antiglare option its worth it . I found out to NEVER use Windex or other ammonia based cleaners as they damage the film on lenses . I had some custom Oakleys with mirror tint long ago and after 3 years it started to flake off .
I have bought several pair of sunglasses that were the type to go over glasses but most had the huge lenses that old people wear and I prefer smaller shape lenses . So far the best one was from CVS for 20 dollars and has rubber ends on the arms so they snug and are comfy . I had some HD Vision sunglasses they work great but I do not like the design as much .
Well I guess I will buy these 2 and see which works the best and relay my results . I am also looking into safety glass styles too . I tried some but they did not work over my glasses nor with my full face helmet .
My 3rd pair of eyeglasses have no tint nor are they Transistions . Dark bronze tint , polarized and antiglare work best for day time like my goggles but way to dark for night use . I have worn where the roads is well lut but man in the country I needed a spotlight to see in dark areas . I have retina damage so lights bother me and I can see at night with mild tint actually better when facing oncoming lights as I see halos etc . So rather than shelling out 300+ again for custom glasses I decided to see what they could do for me since they were so cheap ( under 10 dollars ) and I used to expensive ones but hate to pay for them . Some cases it is worth it to get premiums but I also have light tinted over glasses pair from Dollar Tree that work great at dusk but too dark in low light areas . I love to ride at night even in the wee hours since its cool and almost no traffic ( cars are more of a danger to me than just the dangers of riding are by far ) . I live between the city and the country areas and love to ride where I have the road to myself instead among heavy traffic . I just hate the flying insects and possums . I hit a possum , well clipped it at 50 MPH and almost wiped out . A solid hit Im sure I would have wrecked as it took me a few seconds to regain stability as I zigged and zagged after hitting it . I always plot my course as far as I can see and on the look out for surprises , but you know they love to happen when you let your guard down .
Sorry so long , but in short I would like to hear if anyone has tried those two night time over glassses or can suggest a pair for my crazy eyes . Even from behind some cagers lights blind me so bad I have to slow down
