So I purchased and installed a different exhaust system, a cheap $99 one that has a true silencer insert. The muffler is on the small side (14"), which I like, less mass you vibrate and make stress on the questionalble mounting. The fit of the pipe brackets was way off, I had to chop them clean off and still heat and bend the pipe a little to let the muffler clear the swing arm. Otherwise the pipe fits well as far as center-stand and fan cover clearance. I installed one the the pipe bracket flanges I cut off to the lower swing arm mount, it sort of overlaps what bracket I left on the pipe. Eventually I will try to weld a piece between those, but for now I just embarrassingly cinched them together a bit with a hose clamp. I have heard that my engine being a 'P' engine means it has a taller head which would make sense to make the fitments of any pipe way off. Can anyone with 'P' motor confirm this? Or know of a system that bolts right on our motors?? The muffler strap lined up fairly well to the old rear mount hole, with the expected need of 3-4 inches of spacing. I added a pyramid stack of big washers to that side to hopefully take some of the stress off those threads. I also added an extra nut to the end of the bolt sticking out of the mount. Eventually I will replace the ghetto nut stack with a spacer from the hardware store... lol I also successfully stripped a stud-hole in the head... be easy on those because there are not many threads in that little 6mm hole... I have a fat coarse thread screw-bolt in there now, and a heli-coil kit ready for when that fails. It sounds great with the silencer in, not too loud, but I think the silencer is stuck in there now... I cranked it down while it was hot because it was loose and spinning around. I rounded the nubs a little trying to remove it after it cooled down... I hope I can get it out to experiment some more. It definitely ran best with it in before I swapped the jet... it runs even better now with a #114 jet (my replacement carb had a 108 in it, no wonder it was rich before!) Plus the old muffler was falling apart on the inside, who knows how that was affecting performance. It hasn't fallen off yet... maybe 50 miles on it, but I can already see blow-through discoloration coming around the rivets.... If I can find a better quality exhaust that will definitely fit like it should, I will probably get it.. Here are some links to what I bought: www.ebay.com/itm/170881141332www.ebay.com/itm/170871716334www.ebay.com/itm/170824940753

I have the same exhaust and parts and i had to fiddle around too to make it fit. Here is the link to my photobucket where you can see the pictures of the whole process. s1243.photobucket.com/albums/gg553/Kata_Stroff/As you will see, i had to scavenge to old muffle to make a bracket and i used the stock header pipe since my scooter is retro style and the nice shinny chrome header pipe was pitching the exhaust inside the body panel. I had fun making all that crap and will upgrade it to a bigger header pipe and nicer bracket this winter. Sounds great with the silencer, but sounds even better without it.

ONE MONTH and the decorative chrome outlet cover fell off going down the road... lol. If the scooter behaves enough through this season I might step it up and go for one of the $200 systems next year...

ONE MONTH and the decorative chrome outlet cover fell off going down the road... lol. If the scooter behaves enough through this season I might step it up and go for one of the $200 systems next year... Bought the same one from a differnt seller. At about 500 miles of ownership the same piece fell off on mine. At exactly 92 days as I was WOT on my way home my engine bogged and dropped from 7200rpms to 4500rpms and sounded horrible. I was able to nurse it home and found the packing cage on the inside came loose and stuffed into the silencer. I was lucky I didn't blow my head or jack something up with my engine. I would say start saving for your next pipe now. Here's my new pipe post. scootdawg.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=talk&thread=53410&page=1

I bought this POS muffler on 7/26. It took a couple weeks to arrive UPS ground and slow seller. I installed it on 8/14 by 8/20 it had a rattle which is EXACTLY why I replaced the stock one. I contacted the seller and he would not reply to my emails, I opened an ebay claim and lost as he tried to argue that I did not want it, not that it was defective (Still in appeals now.) www.ebay.com/itm/150866349915?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649Watch out for this seller and as many of the people here on the forum say BUY A BETTER MUFFLER don't think if you get a $99 ebay one you'll be the lucky guy. When I received it I immediately could tell it was poor quality by the .99 cent wrapping it came in. I wish now I would have just spent $200 or so on a quality one now I'm out the $100 I spent on this hunk of junk.

Did any of you guys' header pipe brackets come close to fitting? Some of the pricier ones I see are slip-on with no supports on the header pipe, but I guess if they are made that way, they can take it. For the ones that do have brackets I worry about having to hack up an expensive one and have it still not fit as a whole for some reason, like because I have a 'P' engine...

Never, I've owned two ebay exhaust and both pipes had two tabs that had to be cut off so they could fit correctly.

You got what you paid for. You really overpaid as the muffler itself costs under $20. You can see them advertised on Alibaba for $5 each.

But you'd have to buy 1,000 at a time. And pay import duties and shipping in a container.

I just cut mine off and welded a Briggs and Stratton muffler to the pipe. I had drilled out the center of the baffle too. Sure it's a little loud but nowhere near as loud as a Harley or any other big bike. I notice people pull out in front of me less too.

Well I got my scooter to quit its little backfiring... turns out it had nothing to do with this pipe or my jetting... After reading about it so much here, I finally decided to try blocking off the exhaust port on the head for the EGR/PAIR whatever it is system with a plate I fabricated, and it worked! It sounds beautiful on deceleration now, its been described as sounding like a juvenile robot tiger growling.
The exhaust is still 'holding on' for now...

I have that same exhaust on my 50cc and it fit without having to mod anything on it. All I had to do was make a little bracket to support the clamp so the silencers weight was not just hanging on the head pipe. Granted I only have about 40 miles on it so far, but it sounds good, and overall am happy with it. Hoping it lasts a few years at least.

That does it! I'm going with Two Brothers. With what I'm saving by re-jetting my stock carb instead of buying a 30mm one I can afford it.

Well, it made it into this season (has not fallen off)....the chrome tip fell off again, and large cracks have developed at the muffler can inlet and outlet. My next one will be something non-riveted with a name on it, hopefully under $200!!! Attachments:

you can't really see them, but there are cracks all around where the pipe bolts to the muffler. Attachments:

I, myself, just got a cheapo Ebay shorty exhaust and installed it. Only ran me about $89 shipped from Puerto Rico, and it's fitment was a nightmare. Also, when I got it, there was a rivet missing in the muffler Here it is: www.ebay.com/itm/170988838262?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2648And here it is installed: And yes, that is zipties holding my pipe up until I get something more....final. LOL The header pipe was too large for the shorty muffler, so I had ALOT of grinding and mock-up to do. FINALLY got it on and clamped up, and BOY, do I love the look and the sound it makes. The solid alum CNC end stops the "ting" sound, and gives it a nice low note. Definitely one of my fav. mods to my scoot. ;D

Definitely one of my fav. mods to my scoot. ;D I bought a muffler exhaust form the same seller in Puerto Rico, about $160 shipped I think. One reason I chose it was the mandrel bending, and nice 1" I.D. rather than a small pipe welded into a larger pipe. I know it is NOT supposed to be a simple bolt on for my Xingyue, but I spent all spring trying to find a seller/dealer who had the correct 'bolt on' MRP exhaust (which looks just like the one I got sans the MRP sticker. You cant buy MRP directly, you need a dealer, and every attempt was a bust because they each claimed they no longer carried MRP but had not updated their websites. My summer was busy so I never even made a test fit. I am hoping that notching out the flange holes will be most of the modding needed, besides building a spacer for the hangar. And a bung welded on for an oxygen sensor since I am also installing the ecotron EFI kit.

And here it is installed: And yes, that is zipties holding my pipe up until I get something more....final. LOL You're not riding it like that are you??? lol Let us know what you do for a rear mount - it looks like your rear swing arm is set up like mine, so I'll be curious. Is yours a big 'touring' `150 too? Also i like the shorter can mufflers, less mass to subject to shock and vibration. I keep seeing different bracket/adapter things for the swing arm in some of the kits... I bet one of them might put a mount about where it looks like your muffler wants one.

Damn skippy I'm riding like that! lol Ok, so it's on some very smooth pavement, but I DO plan on fabbing an "L" bracket to attach to the bottom of the starter solenoid bracket and to the clamp. I would've done it today, but I was busy re-jetting my carb with a #122.5 for my filter and pipe. It's a great pipe and sound, but mind you, the tip is solid CNC alum, so it's a tad-bit heavier than typical shorty alum. pipes.

You realize being attached to the body it's going to loose all its support as soon as you sit on it??

Yep!! Realized that late yesterday. I guess I've still got motorcycle on the brain I suppose. lol I sat on it and heard a "click" and it was the unloading of the zipties. heh
First scooter, and first of MANY brain-farts to come!

Sseriously.... am I the only person to buy an ebay exhaust and absolutely love it?!?!?!? Only issue I had was bending the swingarm bracket about 1/2" down and downpipe rust, easily cured with pliers and some high temp exhaust paint. Kingstar scooters on ebay bought wiyh 90 bucks and free shipping. My friend even got one and put it on his 50cc zuma.
