Get the 150i. I could still kick myself in the a$$ for not getting it last year when I had the chance! I got impatient and took what was available to me locally right then n there. It bit me in the ass when it ran like crap for most of the summer. Everyone that has a 150i has said how much they love it, how damn fast[/i] it is, and how it's been a trouble free ride. The GT5 on the other hand hasn't had such glowing reviews. It could be that all the satified GT5 owners are keeping their mouths shut, but I read and heard about several complaints with electrical stuff like the digi-dash and battery charging especially. I think you'd love the 150i over the Phantom, I just about gurantee it. I know I would.

if you read the description on the 150i, you'll see that its out of stock as the Eurojet is no more. it still available from Keeway (on the same site) as the Matrix but the price has gone up $600 with no changes. at it's current price, its encroaching into the Tiawanese scooter price range though. it's a decent bike but probably not a $2100 bike, if you can find a leftover at $1500 or so BUY IT.

If that page is current and they really still have it, that might just be a find. From what I recollect, according to past threads, people who've dealt with Blacktopmotorsport seem to be have had good experiences.

Hi someone1, I have an 06 strada rx200hp, and sadly, MINE doesn't do 65 mph. In fact, MOST 150cc scoots will barely reach that speed, even after significant mods like a bunch of us are in the middle of doing. If you are looking for top speed, I would suggest looking at a larger 250cc bike. If you need the nimble, in and out of traffic scream away from the light speeds, then you would do fine with a 150cc. Don't expect more than 55mph out of a 150.... Sorry, but even after my high performance mods, my rx200hp will only sneak up and nudge 65.
Temper your expectations, and buy the right sized bike for your use. You will be truly happy either way you go, as long as you understand your new bike's limitations.

And anybody who tells you that a 150cc will do 65 mph (a REAL and sustained 65 mph measured by GPS) is telling you fairy tales. The text on their site says it will do that speed because it is light. This is more BS. At 65 mph, it's not the weight of the scooter that limits your speed but air resistance, which is pretty much the same for all similar models. In fact, at that speed a light scooter isn't doing you any favors because it will be more susceptible to gusty crosswinds. A very light scooter could be a real handful at that speed. A 150cc just doesn't have the power to maintain that speed. Downhill with the wind behind you maybe. Sustained on the level, no way. Jon

I own the RX150i and I have been more than pleased with it. I did a review last year, you may want to do a search. I have had about the same experience that Dawg had with his, it is still running strong. I just got home from Bob Evans, it had no trouble keeping up with the Burger400 and my buddies Harley Classic. It WILL top out at 65MPH now that it is fully broken in but I agree that a sustained speed of 60MPH is more reasonable. If you plan on running on major roads I would not expect to cruise at any more than 60MPH. I purchased mine from www.scootersus.com for $1399.00, however they have been replaced by the Matrix (at a higher price). The RX150i is a 50cc based frame so it is a small scoot be aware of this (see my pics in my posts) If you can find one in stock at the old price BUY IT! It is just a 150cc scoot so don't expect it to run like a big dawg. It only thinks it is.

I also had great experiences with my rx150i.
It did indeed top out at 65 mph, though comfortable cruising for the motor was more like 50-55 mph. I had zero problems with mine, which was refreshing after owning a Longbo 150cc.

If you are thinking about plopping down $2000+ for a Matrix, I would take a look at moving up to a 250cc like this scootersus.com/roketamc54.html My friend has one that he has been very happy with. The only problem he has had is a spark plug wire that went bad (broken wire). An easy fix. It will top out at 70+ Mph and cruise easy at 65MPH. If you watch you can catch one on sale for $1900.00, that's what my friend paid. Remember to ask John at scootersus.com for the Scoot Dawg discount, he knocked a hundred bucks off my Rx150i. By the way the RX150i and the RX200 are not made at the same factory, quality and performance of the RX200 have been stated by others as not as high as the RX150i. The Rx200 is however a larger scoot

For fast, definitely get the large displacement. For fuel economy, the 150's are great. Either can be found at the Scooter Depot site. My Xingyue has had a minor problem, now fixed (split rubber line.) All of 'em run a basic GY6-type engine (in the 150 cc class) and will top out at around 55, although mine is a lot happier at 45-50.

A 150cc just doesn't have the power to maintain that speed. Downhill with the wind behind you maybe. Sustained on the level, no way. Jon Dawg tested the RX150i and I'm quite sure he said it would do 65mph on the level, with no wind. I had a RX150TE that I tweaked a very little bit... mostly tinkering around, rejetting and modding intake/exhaust, plus rollers. Mine would do 65 mph on the level with no wind also. Who said anything about sustained?? Good way to blow em up, trying to keep em at absolute top speed. That's faster than the usual 62mph rated tires are good for. If you want to be able to cruise at an honest 52-55 mph in reasonably favorable conditions, there are certainly 150.s that will do it. However if you want to be able to do sustained 55 to 60 in adverse conditions(winds against you, plus hills) you'll really need a 250cc. Just remember that RX200hp, ain't 200cc's... it's just a measly 5cc's more than a 150.

Jon Please remember my descriptions are not BS and most here know the RX150i does 65 as reviewed here. Plus scootertronics does not dropship we prep and test ride every scooter we ship so we price accordingly. if someone twist our arm we will ship unprepped but we can not be responsible for prep at that point. There are plenty of 150s at this price even more, a chinese 49cc two stroke scooter made by QJ is over 2000, scootertronics is a full service shop for scooters ATVs and go carts not just an online dealer, just because we do e-commerence does not put us in the dropshipping business. We did do this for a time but most companies we deal with now do not allow dropshipping (companies with US office) so we stopped altogether unless you call and ask for it, but then again if the scooter is sitting there in our warehouse why not make sure it starts, silly right. I really do not intend to get in a pissing match about my service or prices, its so hard to please everyone we just do the very best that can be done. If there is something you would like to know or something you would like a better price simply ask, thats how I get things in life, when I want something I ask for it. scootermike

My strada 150 (not the rx200hp) will hit 65mph on flat land no problem and I have not even installed any of my performance parts yet. I've been reading about all the problems people have with chinese scoots and I am happy to say that mine has had 0 problems so far. So to answer your question, I would recommend the Yamati brand, as it is decent priced and other owners seem happy with their products.

If you get the RX200, specify the newer 170cc version. That would nullify the question if a big bore kit would boost your speed because you'd already have it. Also and more importantly it hasn't sat around in a box all year with rubber components dry-rotting right off.

Does anyone have experience with Diamo. I'm looking at a Velux 150. It has a convertible top. Its a 2004 with 962 miles. Asking price is $1600. I don't know whats reasonable. Is Diamo a good scooter?
Thanks

I don't have any experience with Diamo but I will share what I do know about them. They are another 'made up" brand name. Their scoots may be sourced from different Chinese manufacturers or assemblers. It seems they have attempted to establish themselves as an up-line Chinese made brand. I don't know if they really live up to their pricing and self-described quality. Their Diamo Turista 300 is the same scoot as the Linhai Mainstreet (Aeolus/SuperStrada 300). Their MSRP for the Turista 300 is ridiculous (IMHO) at $3995. Whether or not Diamo will remain in business in the future is questionable.
To know if the Velux 150 is from a decent Chinese manufacturer, you would have to get the name of the actual manufacturer from the Federal FMVSS plate somewhere on the scoot. May others have some experience with Diamo.
