Stolen idea from a couple members of this forum, here is my nearly complete stereo system. I have 2 more speakers on the way plus have to build a mount for the iPod on my dashboard. A 30 watt per-channel mini amplifier sits in my seat compartment. It's pretty loud, quite listenable at cruising speeds through a full face helmet but sometimes not quite loud enough depending on outside noise. If it's still not loud enough after I add the 2 more speakers, I will need a bit more powerful of an amp. First pic is an external power switch for the amplifier I mounted so I don't have to open the seat every time I stop and want to turn the amp off. Cut holes in the plastic with a hole-saw and mounted 2x 3.5" 50 watt speakers Pretty fun

Yep I bought all the stuff from Amazon, 2 speakers and an amp for $30 w/ shipping. There were some extra costs like another $10 for an inline fuse holder and fuses, $10 for the 6-foot 3.5mm MP3 input cable, and $3 for the power switch, these things were bought from a local AutoZone/Radioshack. Speaker wire and some other wiring odds and ends I got from a friend that had extras laying around. All in all a pretty loud and good sounding system on the cheap for about $50. Though I did splurge another $15 for a second pair of speakers

Got the 2nd set of speakers installed and the iPod mounted to the dash with some industrial strength velcro. This thing really cranks and sounds good going down the road now. Next thing I need to do is weatherproofing treatment and put some wire mesh screens over the speakers. Also should really paint those screws black. A small rubber grommit holds the mp3 cable in place and gives a nice finished look.
