So we picked up a 2000 Eton Beamer 2stroke for $200 the other day. Kid said it didnt run, just an empty float bowl. Started right up. Adjusted the idle to make it idle perfect. Carb is super clean.
I greased the kickstart as it was sticking when you kicked it now its perfect and smooth. Getting a new battery in a couple days but the electric start and lights all work. Although we believe they wired the headlights to both turn on with the high beam.
Our problem is, the engine runs great, and it gets really high RPM but it has no power. It takes FOREVER to get up to any kind of speed and clocked it at 25mph after 2 full blocks.
Were thinking the CVT needs to be worked on and that it is not riding up like it should.
Any idea's from you guys... And as an idea its so slow on take off my chinese 4 stroke smokes it big time. I have to go REALLY slow on take off for him to keep up.

It does smoke alot but it might be someone put oil in the tank as well as the reserve. Were going to do a compression test soon.

It ran so much smoother then with the junk from the gas stations. When I changed out the oil it took forever for the old stuff to drain, put in the new stuff, and it started free flowing all over the ground before I got the hose back on the nipple.

Check the rollers and see how high the belt is riding up on the variator. You should be able to see a wear line from the belt. Good place to start. You can also check the clutch shoes to see if they are worn and maybe slipping, or a broken clutch spring. All easy stuff to check. My beamer runs great, yours should too. Parts are easy to get for these so that another bonus!

Were hoping its just a worn out part since the engine runs so great as is.

hello all,
Just bought an 07 eton beamer matrix II this morning. With 2300 miles, got it for $500. This is my 1st scooter and am glad to be on this forum. Was reading the comments by everyone and seems like the forum is not much active still there have been some recent responses.
1st thing, was it a good deal? 2nd, It vibrates a little initially upon throttling just before it starts to move. Once it gains some speed, it runs much better. Also, the front brake squeaks. Seller said its because he drove in rain. Could there be any other reason?
Are there any pointers to do any mods to make the bike smoother and better?

I have a 2003 Alphasport RS which is the Beamer. Thing is tough. Use only premium fuel and syn two stroke oil as above poster said. The vibe check the belt, a little wiggle is usually a low back tire. Whats the front rotor look like on brake? Pads/
