I have a 2007 50cc 2 stroke keeway.
I'm having some trouble narrowing down what is goinlg on with it. Let me tell you step by step what has happened over the past few days.
I drive my scooter a couple miles back and forth to work daily. I've had no issues with it for almost a year now.
I was pulling into work yesterday and I noticed the engine died as I was coming to a stop before I hit the kill switch and it never does that.
Sure enough, came out of work that afternoon. It wouldn't start. and turns but wouldn't start.
The only thing that I have done differently is I asked my wife to bring me some gas one day because I was running low and didn't want to run out. I realized after I put the gas in that it was 87, and not the usual 93 I run in it.
So I got home and a cap of sea foam in, and ran the 87 for over a week with no issues. So I'm not sure if that is relevant or not, just trying to remember anything I've done differently.
So I got the scooter home today and ..
Checked the fuel line going into the carb and I had a steady stream of fuel so I thought the fuel line and filter were ok.
Still nothing. Turn over, but no ignition
Thought maybe the gas was dirty or had water in it so I poured some sea foam into the fuel line hoping it would at least fire to let me know it was the fuel. That did nothing.
The air box is old and original, so i thought maybe it wasn't getting enough air, tried to start it with the box off. No change.
Checked the spark plug, it had spark, but it looked weak. Changed the spark plug and alas, it fired up. But it was very smokey, and sputtering. The only way it will stay cranked is if i help it almost WOT.
However, it ran for about 20 seconds then died. Now, the only way it will crank is if I pump the throttle a few times, then start it, hit WOT and hold it there. Sometimes it stays running, sometimes it dies.
But if i let of the throttle it dies everytime.
I've tried adjusting the mixture screw but it doesn't really seem to make a difference.
Any ideas? I thought that the spark plug must have been the main culprit since if fired up after I changed it, but now it won't stay running. It's never really given me a problem like this before.
Any help would be really, really appreciated.
