Just an update on the scoot.
I finally got it to start and run after messing with the carb a little. Its idling at around 2,200rpm right now, which is higher than usual, but if I turn it any lower, it'll die without me staying on the throttle. I'd love to get this thing running to where I don't have to worry about it dying all the time.
Any suggestions guys?

Have you adjusted your valves, when a motor cannot hold an idle and dies when you stop it is a symptom of tight valves. What is happening is your are looseing compression and it will not hold a low IDLE. And it will get worse not better, so adjust your valves and I bet it will then hold the proper idle and you then can adjust your Fuel Ratio properly. Wile

Alright, I'll give that one a shot. I went ahead and picked up the tools I needed for the job today and I'll be attempting the valve adjustment tomorrow. Any video/website you recommend that walks through the valve adjusting process?

Nevermind, I failed to see the very top post on the forum that just so happened to be an excellent breakdown of the process, haha.

Not to worry at first it is intimidating but after you do it the first time you will say its a piece of cake(HAHA). Now when you put the Valve cover back on DO NO CRANK on the bolts that hold the Valve cover just nice and SNUGE otherwise the gasket will get squash and may leak or the bolts can snap as well. Good Luck tomorrow Wile

Alright, here's an update.
I did a valve adjustment on my scoot and set the intake to .004 and the outtake to .005. Tried to start the scoot and wasnt able to without carb cleaner. Once I got it started, I had to gas it a little for a while so it wouldn't die on the idle. Once it was warmed up, I set the idle speed so that it was just under 2000rpm, otherwise it would die. If I try to pull back too hard on the throttle, it will bog down and die. Also, if I have it running at a hard rpm and let down off the throttle, it will also die. I tried messing with the a/f screw to see if this was the problem, but no help. Arghhh, im starting to get frustrated with the scoot! I just want to ride again!!! Is there something that I'm totally forgetting to check?
Thanks guys

When messing with a/f screw you need to count how many turns? It doesn't take too much to mess it up totally I would turn clockwise a/f screw all the way in, just until it stops, then turn (out) counter clockwise out 2 1/2 turns, see what that does. This will give you a good starting point (I know Wile already told you how to adjust carb) but you may have to redo if its messed up. Another thing to look at is your diaphragm in the top part of carb, sometimes if its not sealed right or may have pin holes in it, take it out and look to make sure its ok.
