What you pay is your business, nobody else's. Tell them its what you are selling it for. I sold a few scoots and people always want to lowball and lower price but stand firm. They will buy. If not, raise price next time they come back.

In my business in Puerto Rico Haggle is the way we do it! We constantly get customers who want to haggle. Say i sell my Stators (magento) for $35.00 marked price people will always come in and say "So how much for me?" I usually lower the price between a few dollars to five depending on what it is. There are certain items which i refuse to haggle with. Usually i hate that because i am not use to it being from the USA and not Puerto Rico but giving it to them for a lower price makes them feel great and they keep coming back.

I sold them for 2 years...my cost 600...sold for 900..with PDI and tuned for best performance. Gave up selling them as they would low ball to 600 bucks....one even offered 500 if I leave it in the crate..and let him set it up...I told him..."Quite honestly...I will not sell you one for less than what I paid for it....so take your ss down the road"....next day he shows up with his brother...both with 600 bucks wanting one... I laughed and asked them to leave... I sold the last 7 I had and got out of that....now I just do repairs....have a wholesale account...and sell parts...  |

Haggleing is the way the world goes round, now if a business cannot give a 10% discount during the haggleing your either paying to much to carry the product, your greedy, or you have so much business you do not have to discount the items to move them. Some are poor business people, they will not go down on the price. Rather than make some money on the product they rather try and hold out for the full price and many times they get stuck with the product just taking up space. See that all the time with scoots, $900.00 dollars one day after months go by all of a sudden the price is now $700.00. Now he might get a bite at that price.

Same as from the Dealer ZIPPO, BUT WAIT, It shouldn't be a blanket statement.. Let me rephrase that .. Same as from "MOST" Dealers NADA.
Let me ask, if a product is not selling wouldn't a SMART person question why customers are not flocking into his store or ordering things. And if he finds that he is overpriced on the items would it not be smart to mark the products down some and make a little LESS profit and not make ANY at all. It doesn't take many brain cells to figure that out.

When uneducated people buy cheap scooters from people that offer no service, parts or warranty all they are getting is a cheap scooter. In just a few months they will be telling everyone they know what a piece of crap their Chinese scooter was. It’s funny for they thought they were getting the deal of the century.
When we got into business, to compete with a guy down the street, we sold some of the cheap scooters and our customers were coming back every week with new problems. We were seeing engines failing within 600 to 1,000 miles. To make a long story short the guy down the street went out of business selling the cheap junk where we have doubled every year.
All of the Chinese’s scooters we sell have a 12 month, 6,000 mile, parts and labor warranty on the power train and 3 months, 1,000 mile, fender to fender parts and labor warranty. You could never offer this level of warranty on the cheap scooters that the fly by night people sells whenever the weather gets nice.

That one statement says a lot! I still think that the majority ( not all ) of the complaints and people calling Chinese scooters "junk" comes from people who have expected their drop shipped machine to arrive fully prepped and ready to go and when it arrives in a crate, they don't have the education, experience or ability to properly assemble and PDI it. Then when it don't start, run very well, or things fall off, they blame the machine and not themselves. As far as quality is concerned, every year the Chinese get better and better. The quality of hoses, belts and production has improved greatly. I am old enough to remember all the same type of things being said about the Japanese machines when they came into the US. It also doesn't help when Dealers of Japanese Scooters refuse to work on Chinese Scooters. They want you to buy their product and if you don't they won't work on what you bought. This type of thinking still escapes me, work is work and money is money. The excuse of, I can't get parts for that, is bull! There is an internet full of folks that sell parts for Chinese Scooters, more so than parts for Japanese Scooters, you have to go to a Dealer in a lot of cases. One thing that the Japanese Scooter Dealers either forget or don't want to admit is, the Chinese Scooters are Japanese Clones. How long has the 139QMB motor been around and where did it come from? Go visit some Colleges and you will find quite a few of the so called cheap scooters..uneducated, I don't think so. Has to do more with money and what one can afford. The ones that complain afterwards you will fine they are not mechanically inclined and most are young kids under 20 years of age which probably never had a screwdriver in their hand.
They buy the scoots and want speed and run them at WOT all the time and never bother to check anything on them. It amazes me to see the condition of the parts that broke on them, and looking at other areas of the scoot it is obvious that nothing has been done since they got the scoot, I mean some look like rust buckets.

Dealers are so educated most cannot tell you much about any of the parts they sell, talk about uneducated.
And let me add some observations, It is not good business or very smart for a DEALER on any forum to be getting envolved in disagreements or whatnot. All that shows is they really do not have very good business sense and shows their lack of education.

If you truly want to keep it in context then a better term to describe even a newbie would be; UNFAMILIAR I've seen uneducated people be able to work on things like scooters, they are not the complicated machines some make them out to be. At one time every single person who has owned one and dealers who sell them were UNFAMILIAR with them, after all one wasn't just born knowing how to work on things. IMO it's one of those things that gets put into the context of if you know nothing about it then buy from a B&M dealer and don't try to work on it yourself. True that very non-mechanical people get burned sometimes and can't repair them and they learn a hard lesson in life. You see their scooters on Craigslist for a bargain. But for every one of these unfamiliar people who get burned online one can read reviews everyday from those who get the same treatment from B&M dealers. Just like online there are those who sell from a building that love to cheat people too and you then read about those on forums like this. No perfect system but even the most educated people around get burned on lots of things from autos to a air conditioner and scooters are just another item on that list. For sure once they deal with a bad situation they are no longer unfamiliar and have added to their education in life. |

You have answered posts where folks have had issues and helped them out and been right on the money with your advice. On the other hand, you also seem to like to "bash" dealers. I have noticed that no matter what Cookees has to say, you always have something derogatory to say about him or his comments.
