Greetings from New England! I am a former touring bike rider and an able mechanic that bought a new scoot for around town. I no longer ride a touring bike and this scooter seems to be more appropriate for the 2-3 mile hops around town. The fuel mileage blows my mind going from 13 mpg to 100 mpg! The different touring bikes I have had usually got around 30mpg in town. This is a nice treat.
I have decided I want to up the scoot a bit but not go radical. I could use a little more top end and would like more torque off the line. From what I have read on this forum seems that a new carb with slightly larger jets and a simple increase in the jug is in order. If I understand what I have read on this forum a 70cc (49?mm) kit would give me what I want. I don't understand the carb requirements yet, I will likely use the stock exhaust temporarily.
My scooter is a TaoTao VIP 49cc and does about 45 mph according to the Chinameter.

howdy and welcome to the forum. normally one attempting what you seem to want is simply throwing money in the hole but as one mechanically inclined perhaps you can get your moneys' worth.
lotsa miles and smiles to ya.

You are certainly correct on the point of throwing money away. I guess the only reason I want to do it is to say I've done it. Not withstanding that I have too much time on my hands and too little to do. Sometimes when you suffer from "tinkeritis", you just can't seem to leave things well enough alone.
