Here in Arizona I find it more comfortable to wear long sleeves, it keeps the sun off my arms and keeps from getting Burns. Sure it may be a little warmer while driving but at least I'm not stuck with sunblock on or sunburns lol

Darwin 's law. We have a kid at work that rides his scooter with no shirt or safety equipment at all. Worst is US 218 is a higher speed 40 to 45 mph high traffic road, he 's driving at WOT i can hear it. I pass this kid every day. Im leaving and he 's coming in. I fear somday i will be passing whats left of him.
Protective gear not only protects your life, it protects your family and loved ones. Every body that that counts on you every day. To go out make a living every day and come home in one piece. That gear protects a lot more than just road rash. That 's only the beginning.

Decent helmets and armored jackets can be had pretty inexpensively. Figure $150 for both. If you don't have them already, figure that into your budget.
Not only does gear protect you from injury in an accident, it keeps you from being injured by flying debris and bugs. (Bugs can be pretty big.) I'd rather take a rock to my helmet and ride on, than take it to my face and end up ditching without a helmet.

That happened to me, twice, and I got stung both times! lol. I'm sure it happens to lots of peeps with an open or 3/4 face helmet. I'm torn, because I wont be able to smoke or drink while scooting with a full face... but the 'dental plan' and bee-face protection would be great... maybe a modular helmet?

Funny you should mention this now. The ups guy just dropped off the last of the "goodies" armored mesh jacket (It gets HOT in the desert!) Full face modular helmet, Heavy duty "gauntlet" gloves, Super bright led vest. steel toed boots. I don't want to end up a D.S.I.T.M.O.R. (dead squid in the middle of the road.)
