We had 17 fatalities all of last year. Had 15 in just the month of May this year, and had a couple more so far in the first couple days in June.
I have seen several of the accidents covered on television and can see clearly that a couple were left turners, but there have been a surprising number of one vehicle accidents. Read as "Rider MISTAKES". One guy on crotch rocket "loses control at high rate of speed", another guy comes down cloverleaf too fast and goes wide into traffic, Harley rider goes off road after midnight in the sticks (deer, booze or both?) and today girl clips a hunk of tire, thrown from bike and run over on freeway (no helmet).
Be careful, ride within your limits, be seen, and wear safety gear.

howdy, it certainly is important to ride within your capabilities, road situation and machine considerations. as you are going down the road, instead of boredom, why not spend the time visualizing situations that could get you in trouble, and how you will act or re-act in order to minimize the trauma. notice the details of the traffic and ride in lane position which makes you most visible and gives you the best vision. in other words be pro-active and aggressively control every situation in your favor.
lotsa miles and smiles to ya

Wisconsin is having a large increase in traffic deaths, not just motorcycle ones. 210 of which 28 were motorcycles. The riding season came earlier this year due to the weather. The automotive accidents a lot of times result in multiple deaths.

And another one. I feel bad for the family but this guy was apparently speeding and ran a red light, hit a box truck which sheared off his leg. He was not wearing a helmet and apparently died a day later:
LaPlante was severely injured in the crash, which left him unconscious and severed his left leg below the knee, Rosand said. LaPlante was not wearing a helmet, police said.
According to witness accounts, LaPlante was eastbound on County Road C when he entered the intersection on a red light and hit the Renewal by Andersen truck as it was turning into a business from the westbound lanes, Rosand said.
Rosand said the crash was still under investigation, which included help from the State Patrol. Preliminary causes, he added, included speed, the red-light violation and failure to yield. Earlier in the month, state authorities were reminding drivers of all vehicles to share the road in the wake of an unusually high number of motorcycle deaths already this year.

What does losing a leg have to do with wearing a helmet?

What does losing a leg have to do with wearing a helmet? Uh, nothing. The accident caused his leg to be sheared off, but the lack of a helmet caused his death due to head injury.
