Thanks ScootForFun, I am going to be going for the ml permit hopefully next week. btw, I dont think I ever said I disliked 12 inch tires. I said i didn't think I wanted to go below 13 due to my limited experience on my taotao and with everything I read that 10 inch tires was not a good idea on scoots this big. There is no dislike of any tire size as I am only going on many many reviews and my limited scooter experience. Like you, I have read a lot on all different kinds of scooters and peoples experiences and the only common dislike I can see is for 10 inch tires on bigger scooters, especially for freeway travel. I will say that I have been very reluctant on purchasing anything used as my experience dealing with folks so far, has not been a very reassuring experience. Just about everyone I have emailed has been very reluctant to discuss any details about their scooters other than it runs great and they really need to sell it. Heck, even that CL ad you posted makes me wonder why the dealer didnt mention his business name. Maybe I am just over cautious but I just about scammers trying to take my hard earned money and I am afraid my excitement of seeing the scooter in person could cloud my judgement and make me miss signs that a deal may be to good of a deal and I end up getting screwed in the end. You needn't be gun-shy, if you educate yourself. As you seem to be doing. There are a whole lotta reasons why scooters appear on the market with low miles, used. Riding isn't for everyone. For many the cycle-lifestyle just doesn't fit. For others, sometimes the Chinese stuff goes haywire early on...simple fix but beyond the new-owner's willingness to mess. Like that CF Moto cycle-scooter. And of course there are the serious reasons to sell...early Chinese stuff could be crap; or maybe it wasn't prepped properly and the new owner seriously damaged it. Now, if I can put a word in on my own experience...my Xingyue XY300t-4 has turned out to be a FABULOUSLY economical ride. Eighty miles a gallon. And I've had it on local freeways...it easily holds its own with traffic for speed; for weight, of course, it's a little light at 300 lbs. I get buffeted easily. But the economy! And, starts EVERY TIME! Odd...I've only seen a few ads for them and no none lately; maybe it's been discontinued. As an updated VOG, it's getting a little old...it's a clone of the 2003 Burgman 400. (The Burg doesn't get mileage that good and the seat isn't as comfortable, FWIW.) The engine on that is a fuel-injected Linhai-Yamaha 295cc engine. But...if you see one; especially as a close-out....at a price under two grand... BUY IT! I've got over 2000 miles on mine, now - not a single problem or issue. Well, aside from water getting into the headlights... Like this one? www.atv4usa.com/proddetail.asp?prod=XY300T-4

That's the one! Except that mine was branded an Xingyue...that's the company that actually makes them. BMS also sells a 260cc version, now fuel injected; and the old carbureted model was sold as the VOG and Tank Touring 260. Been around a long time. From my experience I'd say they've worked most of the bugs out of it...design and build. I notice no price is given. Not available any longer?

(I suppose if you really wanted one you could still get it) 300cc and EFI =Fast! BMS is a pretty good company too.

They're wholesale dealers only, but i'm sure they could give you a retail dealers name.

Don't know, just pokin' around the net and found it. (I suppose if you really wanted one you could still get it) 300cc and EFI =Fast! BMS is a pretty good company too. I suppose the market for those has been pretty much tapped out. Those that dared, have gotten them; and those who come behind them...the stench of the early VOGs and Tanks precede the current rendition. I got this on experimentation - I had sold my small bike before a move, rather than lug it; and all I had was a thirsty BMW R1200. I remembered my Burgman 400 was pretty good on gas and pretty nimble in the switchbacks, too...and I saw this. Someone who parked in the same lot I did at work (didn't know him) had a VOG, long ago...almost the same as my Burg. So I test-rode and bought. But I didn't expect it to be THAT fuel-efficient; and I didn't think I'd be able to pass traffic on the freeway. I'm guessing its top speed is about 78; guessing because like all Chinese speedometers it's fast. I've had GPS on there to test accuracy but don't have a permanent installation. Anyway...78 mph and 80 mpg...half the price of the Suzuki it's based on...what's not to love?

Just be sure and check the dealers rep before buying. (you also might want to give Superior Power Sports in City of Industry California a call, they might be getting them in too.)

Well, I think I have it narrowed down between 3 scoots now. 2012 BMS TBX260cc EFI Linhai Aeolus 300 And last but not least, Burgman 400. Keep in mind the burgman would have to be a used one as there is no way in hell I can afford 8grand for a scooter lol. So unless one pops up soon that is in price range, then it will be between the first two.
Right now, I am leaning towards the BMS due to its fuel injection but its certainly not set in stone. I can't seem to find many reviews of the 2012, most of what I have seen has been towards the earlier models and they seemed like a crap shoot on if you got a good one or not.

Is there anyone here on the forums that has the 2012 BMS TBX-260cc EFI scooter? If there are, how do you like the scooter and have you had any issues?
I did do a search on the forums but it looked like almost all was around the 2008 BMS scooter.

2006 Piaggio BV250. Quality-built Italian scooter. Gets 70 mpg. Top speed 80 mph. 6600 miles. $1850. Call Ken, (919) 593-8791. Location: Willow Spring/Fuquay Good scooter near you on CL. Personally, I would take a solid Italian carbed scooter over one of the early chinese attempts at fuel injection, but it is a personal preference. This is more of a sporty commuter than a touring style scooter though.

If you can try to spend as much money as possible and buy a used name brand bike. A 4,000 name brand bike will be a lot better investment than a 2,000 new chinese bike. A Japanese or Itallian bike should have support in your area That Piaggio jwalz mentioned is a good find I also saw a Morphous for sale in a Florida listing recently

If you are still interested an haven't bought your scoot yet, I recommend a Honda Helix, almost any year. You can get good used ones for that price. Especially if you are a taller guy! And they have been produced for MANY years up until 2007, almost unchanged. Plenty of storage, speeds up to 70 MPH.
