In 5 years I've put less than 25K miles on my car. So thinking of selling it and getting a trike. 250cc-300cc. Where do I start. I live in Atlanta, Ga. and can't find a dealer here. Where do I buy one? What dealers are trustworthy and what models are reliable? I'm a single woman so I need something reliable etc. Please help with suggestions? or am I making a mistake wanting to get a trike instead of a car?

HI & WELCOME ALWAYS GREAT TO HAVE ANOTHER FEMALE HERE.
for real go to Jim's site rapidrepair -- ice bear trikes its one of the banners at the top
not only will he help u make good decisions he is one of the most trusted dealers on the site.
go to his site and look at trikes he answers e mails, posts here, or even phone calls.
he's not like a drop shipper HE CARES after the sale.
the one bad thing is...... if u are NOT real good at wrenching it may be in your interests to have him do the PDI and then ship to you. PDI's are not hard, but the Ice Bear company just made all kinds of warranty changes so if u wanna keep the warranty & U DO either he has to do it or a authorized comapny ask Jim he will hook u up right.

welcome to the forum. This forum tends to be a lot of socializing and helping people with modest or low scoot budgets fixing relatively high maintenance inexpensive scoots. There are several scoot forums worth some attention:
If you study a bit, you will find few scoots have anywhere near the reliability of cars. Particularly lower priced and china scoots. So I would first recommend you study a great deal before you jump. Terrilee for example just spent a frustrating month trying to get her scoot fixed finally have to haul it several miles to a shop and pay more than she wanted to get it solved. /she even got 2 in a row defective flywheel removers.
Several things I would point out: !. Your car is already 5 years old so it has already depreciated a great deal but is nearly new from a use standpoint. 2. I probably will cost more to do an oil change on a trike than on your car cause you can't drop the trike off to WallyWorld and get their cheap job. 3. You will find your gas costs per mile will be nearly that of a light car. Expect 45 MPG. 4. Do not expect a 350 trike to stay with traffic on the Atlanta freeways and failing to stay with traffic is dangerous. 5. When it is nice, a trike or a scoot is wonderful. YOU decide about when it is not so nice.
Having said that, where to steer you? 1. Make a list of every Atlanta area scoot dealer and make a commitment to visit them all. Every one. List and ask questions of all of them. Take your time. 2. Visit all the name brand scooter and motorcycle dealers and ask them about trikes. Hear what they tell you. I would tend to believe what my local Honda Motorcycle shop tells me about trikes. 3. Check Craig's list often for what is for sale. Watch EBay too. You will be surprised what you can learn from both. 4. and visit us often with any stupid or not s o stupid question.
Do believe, I think you are about to embark on a great adventure. Seems I have seen trike kits on Honda/Yamaha 650's. Need reverse though.
Make it that, not a nightmare as Terrilee has had.

Hi - and welcome to the fun world of open air riding. Let me suggest that you keep your car - it is probably paid for and you will really miss it in bad weather - like ice and snow. Then look at some scooters - Rapid Jim has Roketa, Jonway and Icebear makes.
Let me also suggest that you take a motorcycle safety course - one of the best things I did - and you will be amazed at all the stuff you learn. It will be helpful no matter what you buy - a three wheel or a two wheeler.
Have fun with your search - and good luck!

Welcome to Scootdawg!
I am Jim the owner of Rapid Repair and I will be glad to answer any and all of your questions.
Thanks guys for the nice comments!
One new item of note. Ice Bear has now started their own PDI program. If you elect that option your trike will arrive ready to be gassed up and ride. I would suggest that before you ride you do check the machine over to ensure nothing came loose during shipment.

well you can always get a Can Am Spyder. it will be reliable and make a good car replacement it will also cost you the same as a Honda Civic, won't last as long, and will cost you more in up keep. so yeah, those are pretty firm commitments, the Can Am reverse trikes. still, a woman here got one and has put 10,000+ miles on it and never looked back
