I did a search on 'Scooter Depot' and got back no results. I am just curious if anyone has any feedback on them from personal experience. I am thinking of ordering a scooter from them, but I 'm very nervous about having one drop shipped to my door. I never bought a new scoot, always had used ones. I have gotten decent working on scooters and a PDI would be no problem for me.
I need to know personal experience with customer service, warranty issues, etc. before I actually order from them. I would really appreciate any feed back on 'Scooter Depot'. Thanks .

Before I knew anything about scooters, I did some looking online. Found one link about the Depot in Chino CA. Nothing good out of ALL the comments. Almost gave up on Chinese bikes. Then did more looking around before buying, but not from them. Found mine locally, but will do all work and mods myself. Just my 2¢woth.Good luck. Loren

Yelloscoot- I checked out our local dealers and I could get the same bike as the one in your signature line for $1399+ Tax. I am just looking to save a few bucks when I am ready to order. Also watching Craigslist, but some people are nuts when it comes to scoots. One guy, about 40miles from me is trying to sell a used beat up 50cc for $750, LOL. Its been listed for the past 2 months.

scooterdepot is the mafia as far as most can see, i had to sue them to get my money back after never sending a bike
go to superior
get a BMS anything xingyue
superior is just blocks away from bms's warehouse,
my bike was pm'ed by bms, the only real problem i have had i did not cause,
was a dropped petcock line.
superior discounted the bike so i could get a helmet, free fuses and lights
then the girl called me and teased my on the phone about my name.
They screw up under pressure, but they fix it.
and the parts are easier to get then a sym--
find here a parts page for every bike they sell, FOR PARTS get greg at mainely scoots to order he will discount their price good. www.bmsmotorparts.com/www.bmsmotor.com/scooter/Attachments:

One of the comments for the Depot was that the crate was literally dropped off the truck during delivery ...lol and many others. I keep a long list of bookmarks for future reference and keep adding on. When the times come I'll have a nice library of information available and won't have to rely on a local dealer.
Also, the best Scooter Techs around are the fellow Dawgs right here. You just have to get your hands dirty a little.

Ubderstand, almost nobody expects to get his asking price on Craig's list. I do not hesitate to offer a rediculus price. I try to do it nicely. I never say what I think it is worth. In fact one of my favorite ways to offer a low ball is to say, "I wish I could offer you more cause I think it is worth more, but all I can afford right now it ---. I'm an old man too so I sometimes add something about social security or medical costs. I never try to explain my offer with repair cost or this broke, etc. I try to be nice and pleasant and friendly and never insult the guy. My wife sometimes says to me afterwords that I said some many nice things she thought I was going to offer him everything he wanted plus.
I am not at all bothered going back later (a day or a week ) and offering a little or a lot more sort of let my guts tell me if I need to grab it or be willing to wait a bit more.
I have bought for 10 cents on the dollar and now and then for full price.
Have fun. Ain't it wonderful to have a buck or more to spend on a great fun machine.
Good luck - it's like fishing, you just never know what they will bite on
Cheers lefty2

inuyasha- Thanks for the BBB link, 196 complaints were filed against them. There isn't no way I'm ordering from them.
imnts2- I always watch Craigslist, that how I found my 2008 Roketa Catalina 150cc Touring scooter. Got it in February 2009 for $700, sold it last year due to being out of work and needing money to pay utility bills. Miss it a lot.
chaz12- Thanks for the Extreme link, their prices look very reasonable. I bookmarked their home page to go back to them later.

Way too many internet drop shippers play on the old saying "there is one born every minute".
Check their BBB ratings and the internet complaint sites. Most people if they truly read the terms and conditions of these internet sellings wouldn't spend $5 with them. It is a one way street and not pointed to your direction.
Never pay with cash and before you sign for the unit take the box off and check the condition of the unit.
Also, ask what year the scooter is, there is some really old stuff out there.

One more piece of advice. After checkin the BBB, spend a couple cents and call the place you are thinking of buying from. You can tell a lot about a place just from a conversation with a real person. As CFM said "Way too many internet drop shippers play on the old saying "there is one born every minute" or as I like to say, "there are a lot of "bedroom dealers" out there" These are folks that sit in their bedrooms and drop ship scooters. They have never seen one let alone worked on one. You can forget all about support.
One more thing, make sure you read their warranty page. There are some out there that actually tell you, that you have to deal with the distributor for warranty issues, not them. Good luck on that one. Distributors will not deal with the end consumer, in most cases. That is what they have dealers for.

well put jim
but the bbb can be a real mirage, especially if you are not a member in these anything gos barbarian times, where we all see stranger and stranger stuff all the time.
The bbb and chamber of commerce both are extreme right wing nut organizations
as thousands saw here on these very pages, the BBB gave superior power sports a F over "One Sale"
when the other 98 percent were flawless, I called superior on that, the BBB post was never updated, and three transactions to satisfied the customer had taken place since the BBB had gotten involved.

Guess I was lucky. I have two scoots from Sunny Sports and each was fine, both SunL 150cc. Arrived in reasonable time, with paperwork and without damage. Have tried them for parts and tech support and BAD experience, in spite of their advertising of after purchase support. Scoots have been very good and reliable. LF

BRIAN to answer your question about SCOOTER DEPOT here's my recent experience about two months ago. I wanted a black model but couldn't find anyone who had them. I called Scooter Depot instead of ordering online because I wanted only black. The guy who answered the phone told me they did have one. I wanted to be certain so I asked him to check while I waited. After about a minute or two he came back on and assured me that they had it in stock so I ordered it. They took my card number and immediately got the money. Four days later they called and said they had no black ones. I asked them to just return my money and was told there would be a $75 cancellation fee. I told them I wasn't going to pay them $75 for lying to me. Finally they said it would take them around 2 weeks to return my money. Took then 5 minutes to take it though didn't it? So, I called MasterCard and filed a dispute. Got my money about 3 weeks later. Long story short, I called MotoBuys and was told that they didn't have a black one and that no one did. He was correct as I had called around. He then told me that their was another shipment arriving in about two weeks and they would then have a black one. I gave him a $100 deposit and sure enough he sent me one in about 3 weeks. Might add the price went from $1894 at Scooter Depot to $1455 at Motobuys. Pleasant surprise and much better buying experience. Now, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Cause it's all true. LOL

Go with superior. They did what they said they would do, kept me informed by phone all through the process and the delivery service they used sent my scoot in a (undamaged) container that was rolled all the way up the sidewalk and carefully put down literarily three feet from my door.

Just a mention, as people have brought it up before...
The DELIVERY TRUCK has nothing to do with the SCOOTER STORE. They just pay a shipper who they have a contract with, or who has the lowest price that week. The LOCAL DELIVERY is almost always contracted out. So if Mainely Scooters sells a scooter and we ship one out, even though we may choose MPS to ship nationwide, we have NO CONTROL over who makes the actual delivery at your door. We paid MPS and they paid a local trucker to make the delivery from their depot to your door.
I'm not defending them, as I would be pissed too if they dropped my scooter off the back of the truck, literally. But it's not necessarily the scooter shop's fault. However, they can rectify the situation by calling the shipping company and getting things fixed.

Greg Oh I would beg to differ, if the scooter store hires a shipping company that does a poor job in delivery it will reflect directly on the store and the assumed inability/indifference of the staff to check on the background and reliability of those whom they have contracted the work out to.

However, they can rectify the situation by calling the shipping company and getting things fixed. You buy a part from a shop with shipping included and FedEx drives over the box. Do you call ME up complaining that Mainely Scooters is doing a terrible job and trash us on a scooter website? Greg

Let me clarify. I meant the sale and shipment of a new scooter, not simply one small part (I had scooter parts stolen over the holidays and had to deal with the shipper.) but I can assure you the seller ended up getting involved (through no fault of their own.) But realistically do you think if the shipper throws a brand new scoot off the truck the buyer won't be complaining to you?

It's basically the same thing.
I never said the scooter store shouldn't handle their customers well. I just said it wasn't their direct fault if something like that happened. I'd be on the phone with the shipping company the minute after I got a call from a customer saying something like that happened.
Just like if something happened to a part I shipped out I'd be on the phone with FedEx trying to solve the issue.
The shop should always take care of the customer. If something happens during shipment, it's not their fault, but it is their responsibility to make things right.
Some people seem to think the shipper is part of the scooter company and I wanted to make that clear distinction.
