Hello?
Hey out there. I'm a 150cc scooterist from the Nordeast borough of Minneapolis.
I've got some questions about my new bike.
2008 TNG Volare - red and resplendent
I also own a 2007 Hi Tong LT150 - which I bought but my wife and I hate - hate's too strong. Its a nice bike, its just not us. Trying to sell, black and silver. Its a Chuml/longbo/Baccio I think.
We used to tool around on a 150cc Tank Urban Sporty. That thing was friggin awesome. It was old and beat up and held together with epoxy and went like the wind.
That in fact is my question, each subsequent 150 has been slower and slower. My Volare is sooooooo much nicer than the other two, but it tops out around 50 and has noticable torquelessness right between 25 and 40. Its smooth as silk, but just doesn't have the grunt the old Tank did.
Is the TNG Volare a GY6 clone engine? I'm not sure about the Hi Tong because the case looks different.
I have a SWAG that the Carb is either gunked or just too small for the 150 engine. The guy who sold it to me must have been about 250lbs (I'm about 160) and claims he'd take it on the higway at 55. Well, I can't get it up to 55 unless I"m going downhill. The old tank would do 62 up an incline in a windstorm.
So, hi! I can't wait to learn more about scooter maintenance from all of you and hope that I can help in some ways. I'm not a mechanic, but I made at least 20 makeshift fixes on that Tank 150cc that lasted until some old biddy cut me off...the resulting brake slamming and evasive maneuvers resulted in a broken throttle cable and somehow, a ruined voltage regulator. But I knew that bike pretty well. It had really strange habits. Looking forward to getting to know this volare. Its a harley compared to my old ninja and I hope some of you can help me squeeze a few more MPH out of the girl.
