I bought a 2009 keywest 50cc from a friend who recently bought a car because my 2006 yamaha Vino 49cc rear rim was stripped and needed transportation.
The keywest is taking a LOT of throttle action to get it started, once running it will idle for about 35 seconds then just shut off. my mechanic friend and i took it apart and the carb seems to be fine but he asked me if it had an auto choke. I have no idea if it does and if so where in the world it could be. If anyone could be so kind as to give their opinion or knowledge of how to go about fixing this problem i would be extremely grateful.
Thank you all for your time

No and Yes, you have an auto fuel enricher but a lot of people call it a choke. But it adds extra fuel to start and warm the scooter. You should not touch the throttle at all when starting. Something is not right or you may have flooded it. Try to start it and pull the spark plug and see if its wet. The idle jet could be clogged, it should be cleaned with a wire and cleaner. It may not be getting fuel, pull the gas line and put in a jar. Pull the vacume line off the intake manifold and suck. Gas should run out the fuel line. If it doesnt, suck and blow several times and the gas may flow. The valves may be too tight. Use Google search at the bottom of this page. Also Youtube has a lot of good vids on adjusting valve lash.
