Hi, I'm new to the forum and hoping to get some advice about purchasing a scooter. I've tried twice to get my M. First time I couldn't handle the clutch on the Honda Rebel they gave me to ride in the MSF class. Second time, I went to take it on a scooter, but it turned out to be too tall - I couldn't even touch the ground with my toes. I'm not giving up, though. I'm looking at the following scooter on craigslist, toledo.craigslist.org/mcy/2592904079.html, tomorrow. It's a Meiduo 150. I intend to use it to practice my maneuvering skills and get my M, then maybe sell it...or keep it if I enjoy riding it. I can't find any reviews about it on the web so I hope someone here can offer some insight about what questions to ask when I go look at it. Thank you! Carolan

I hate it when folks SHOUT THROUGHOUT THEIR ADS... :-) Looks decent, but you can buy new for that price. Is the warranty transferable? Looks like a standard GY6 based chinese scooter. Check oil levels, for any leaks, etc - have the seller start it and run it around for you to show you if they won't let you ride it.

Oh, I know, the all caps thing is annoying. My dad used to type all his emails that way, though, so I'm used to it. It does seem a bit pricey for a used scoot, but I'll let my husband negotiate while I stand back and bat my eyes innocently. Thank you for the suggestions!

Thanks! I plan to go see it tomorrow - if it's too tall for me then no harm done. Oooooh, do you have a Spyder? I sat on one last weekend and fell in love. Wish I had the $$ for it!

I WISH.. no I don't have $18,000 in loose change for a scooter...but we make them here in Canada so I like to support them... Rode a Spyder RS with no governor and chickened out...way too fast for my old bones

LOL I hear that! My husband doesn't really want me to ride. Something about having too much invested in titanium hips...

Rheumatoid arthritis since age 5; left hip replaced in '97, right one in '00. Left one wore out and spare parts installed in '08. Titanium pins in both reconstructed feet.
And yes, I do set off security alarms. The TSA and I are, erm, "close" friends. [grin]

I'm looking at purchasing a Kaitong, but the model number is MP150, the same as some Roketas, Tao Taos, and Velocity scooters I've seen. Are they just rebranded versions of the same scooter?
