As predicted:New 2012-150cc-300cc reverse trike!

I mentioned in a earlier thread a larger trike of this type was coming, well, Scooter Depot.com and a couple of others now have a new 2012 150cc TKB and a larger 300cc TKB posted for sale

Hope they've worked out the problems those here have encountered!!!

Beautifull alignment on those front tires GEEZZZZZZZ . You would think they would make sure everything on it was setup properly before taking a picture to advertise .

People should know:
The internet pictures on the 150 model showed Kenda on the tire-What was on there ended up being a cheap china tire that were out of round or improperly cured in some cases.
The pipe was changed to a cheap version.
The Nice fenders were substituted by the small 50cc fenders.
To get he battery in he proper slot I had to cut the corners off the plastic cover of the rear seat.
I can see this New version appealing to a Awful lot of people who think its going to be a Inexpensive Leaning Spyder.
Wait till they get the Big Guy to do a video- They will sell out fast!!

Looks like they started at the back with a Morphous, designed more storage on both the sides and added a trunk - then when they got to the front end they were out of money.

So they went to the parts bin, and all they had were some dune buggy parts...

It was laying under the rear seat just bouncing around because they forgot to shape the plastic cover of the back seat so the battery would fit in the proper slot- Here is a picture after I out it in the right place!

I had to tak a look at the new DF150TKB.
Notice the care they took in attaching the Matching trunk, see how nicely it lines up with everything else!!
And then in the other picture, must be the cheap tires you all have been talking about. This is supposedly a new bike and the tires already look worn out.
Sorry!! I just have to laugh at the apparent lack of concern as to the craftsmanship of these machines.
Certainly does not compare with american quality.
Makes me wonder how we would react if GM had this many delivered mistakes. And refused to fix them. Hmmm.

When I decided to sell I put the trunk on and because of a weld being 1/4 inch off I had to use washers to get it looking decent.
And whats with the new styling on the `150??

The other night, during a bout of terminal insomnia, I found a post about the MC150TKB, with some more favorable comments over the TKA. Now I can't find it again, and can't google it up. I really would like to see some reviews on these things by the big names, but none so far.
My 150TKA is a circus of quality issues, kinda reminds me of the Renault Dauphine, Yugo, anything British, etc. I think the principle is the same - the owner had best be a tinkerer/shadetree mechanic and ready to tinker and adapt. OTOH, I have a neighbor who commuted in a Yugo for over 100k until it died tragically in an argument with a Dodge van. An uncle of mine, back in the day, had a Jensen Interceptor that he brought back from England. He made a left turn in traffic one day, and the driver door fell off. The Dauphine owner could not drive his on the freeway because it was too slow, and if he drove at 45mph continuously, it would overheat for apparently no reason. He did discover accidently, however, that if the right rear tire blew, he could just take it off, and drive the car three-wheeled to the tire store - He was apparently heavy enough to counter-balance the thing, and keep the right rear hub off the ground.
You gets what you pays for - my Silver wing was $7200 plus tax, dealer prep, etc, the 150TKA was $2149, including shipping and MCO...

I test-rode an MP3 250, and really liked it, but it was $7k, and just not in the cards. My legs, however, are continuing to get weaker, and next year, I may try to convince the wife that I need to go for one of the Ice Bear trikes, and a GoPac kit for the Silver Wing ("training wheels" as my brother says). When I get the TKA pretty much sorted out, I hope to turn it and the Elite 250 for most of the cost of an Ice Bear 150. We will see.

Don,t be fooled by the Video Chief, I Had a 150 Sunny and it was nothing but junk, dangerous unless you have a thorough allignment and a lot of attention is needed.
Mine never made it to the road and I Paid $2,300 and was happy to get $1,000 from some guy who is a auto mechanic and was going to use the parts to create his own scooter.
The Video,s ALL Look great BUT they are professional riders on a one of a kind gone over machine! Don,t expect yours to be delivered in the same condition? Good Luck. Your results may differ??

Lest Sarge's experience be assumed to be universal, let me say I am very satisfied with my DF150TKA. I bought it second hand after, I suspect, the first owner had, perhaps, experiences similar to Sarge's. I bought it after an ATV dealer "aligned" it, then aligned it again with MY weight on it (unfortunately, it changes with loading). I would say the videos could well be amateurs, as mine rides fine just like pictured.
While mine has not been trouble-free, it's worth every penny of the $2300 I have in it. Loads of fun and VERY stable. I'm a little more wary of some of the fly-by-night drop shippers than I am the product!

I will have to join mnfitz here. I knew what I would probably encounter when I going in, and got more or less what I expected. Yes, the alignment is a glaring problem, just a product of poor design, but I have worked around it much as mnfitz has, aligning it with my neighbor aboard, as he weighs within 10 lbs of my own weight, and I run the front shocks at max preload to more or less keep everything in place. I had to replace the tires on mine, and have had to replace most of the light bulbs. I have removed, replaced and LocTited many, many fasteners, The speedo is about 10-15% off, depending on speed, but I have used the GPS to mark the dial at 30, 40 and 50mph actual speed, which covers 99% of my use of it. All in all, it is, as I say, about what I expected. I don't know how long it will last, but for now, it is a fun, reliable around-town scoot, and a conversation-starter. Just for grins, I did a ~60 mile round trip on it, when I knew I could arrange "rescue" if needed. It did fine, but I learned to stay on level ground, and that 50mph is about the best cruising speed. I don't plan to do any long trips on it. All in all, it is a $2500 scooter. You gets what you pays for. ;D

I have to wonder how much you guys are being paid to "shill" for Scooter Depot. My experience is parallel to Sarge's only worse.
IceBear refuses to respond to any of my emails now, because I asked them to accept return of the junk. DF150TKA under any other name, the same crap from China. Briefly, I have just over 100 miles and it has been rendered useless, due to electrical problems. Melted safety switches, and smoke from under the front cowling. This was on the heals of a multitude of problems, not limited to fuel pump, Instrument panel, and more than a handfull of undocumented design changes. (fringes upon fraud) in my book. The Ohio Attorney General's Office will be handling my situation from here on. We have Lemon Laws, and statutes that protect us from fraululent , or misadvertising. You have been forwarned. . . Nuff said.

I was Lucky to get rid of mine for $1,000 to a guy who,s a mechanic and was going to use it for a project because I would have felt guilty selling it to someone to ride. He noted the rear wheel bushing gone . If your not REAL handy and get one of these it could really be a dangerous adventure and not one worth a accident / injury or worse over. Just MHO?

Heh heh. Not shilling for anyone, Tim. I am not a fan of Scooter Depot, and would not shill for them in any case, my experience is with SuperSportz. If you wish the quality, engineering, and support of an MP3, it can be yours for about $7k. Years ago, in roughly the same genre concept, there was the Yugo, and the Volkswagen Golf - quite the same size/concept of car, but quite the difference in price/quality. I got the Golf, neighbor of mine got the Yugo. We both drove them for over 100k miles. His Yugo was finicky, and high maintenance. My Golf was just change the oil, align it every 20k or so, and keep tooling along. We both got what we paid for.
Your electrical failure was inexcusable, and you should have taken your problem to the vendor with a request for a new wiring harness, but from the tone of your post, I suspect that may not have been the case. Mine had aggravating random electrical things also - loose connectors, a couple of dead light bulbs etc, which led to me going over the wiring harness completely checking, silicone spraying, re-crimping, but after all the issues were sorted out, it has put in just under 2k miles with no issues. It is underpowered, slow, and the battery supplied with it was junk, but now it is reliable, and is a conversation starter wherever it goes. I have had it called everything from "pretty neat" to "chink junk", but that goes with the territory. Two cents worth.

I'm not getting a dime from them, but would sure cash the check if they sent me one. I AM sincerely happy with mine, imperfections and all. I knew it wasn't an $8000 Piaggio when I bought it and haven't expected it to be. Sorry for the bad experiences of some of the other posters, but, frankly, if I lived nearer to any of you, I'd probably scoop some of yours up to sell to all the people that see mine and want one....

I also dealt with SuperSportz with the same trike and loving every minute of it. I bought my sister the 150cc and myself the 50cc. Have had no problems with them and ride all over town getting all the attention...love it!
