Its really a personal choice. I have a full face, 3/4 and half helmet and use them for different purposes. I use the full face for highway, and alternate between the other two around town and such. As long as its DOT approved and fits, and you like it, it's fine. The key is the fit. If it is at all wiggly and loose, it is too big. Make sure it is a snug fit. If you check out motorcycle superstore online, you'll be able to browse through hundreds. Its great fun.

I only use full face. I don't want bugs, rocks, etc flying in my face. But I agree its more a personal choice. But never base it on what others think. They don't matter.

I have a 3/4 and FF helmet. i find myself using the FF more b/c it's quieter and keeps the bugs off my face. I would highly recommend the FF, especially after hearing about a guy getting hit from behind and doing a faceplant on cement, now he probably has the nickname scarface. Not funny but an example as to why you should always wear a FF helmet. I would highly recommend getting a Scorpion EXO 400 but make sure to get two sizes bigger then you normally wear b/c their sizing runs super small. The Scorpion helmets are Dot and Snell rated, one of the best rated helmets for such a cheap price. I got my scorpion exo 400 rebel helmet for only $59 shipped, can't beat that with a stick. Scorpion helmets usually run $150 to $200 but often have clearance sales for cheap.

I do agree about the full face offering the most protection, which is why I use it on highways. I do, however, prefer the other ones (3/4 or half) for in town riding, as I feel I have better peripheral vision with the smaller helmet and can hear better as well.

The best shot is trying it on in person. Some helmets have larger outer casing than needed, so they can sell several sizes using the same mold for the outer shell, so you can't just fit your head and order one. Don't worry about looking like you have "too much" helmet because it's a scooter. The faster scooters will still get you to highway speeds and even before that, the concrete and objects don't get any softer for scooter riders.

I have a full face "flip" helmet for now as my general all purpose helm. Easy to flip up if its too hot or if I need to take a drink of water and I feel safer with the chin guard. Will probably pick up a few different ones later down the line, but this one works for now.

My full face is also a flip style, aka modular, which is nice if you want to cool off, have drink, defog, etc.

I used a half when I started out on my Rebel 450 motorcycle, hung with Harley people and was given one so I used it. Didn't take me long to realize that bugs, rocks and rain hurts the face so am using now a 3/4. End of the week I'm getting a full face/flip up because I want my chin protected too. I'm getting the GMax gm54s that has the flip down sun visor in addition to the regular visor. Great helmet, has the most air vents of any helmet and not over priced. Boyfriend likes his GMax way better than the Shoei he had.

I have an AFX full and a MMG 3/4 with face shield. The AFX is great all the time, the MMG is awful at any speed over 35MPH. Noisy, windy, bleh. It was cheap, so I'll keep it as a passenger helmet just in case.

Hi, I would like to know what is best half helmet for scooter? just dont want to look tat helmet so big on my head!!! ;D thank you! I don't think there's a best half helmet for anything. They are really just enough to keep from getting a ticket. They have a tendency to pop off if you hit them right. Up to you but 3/4 is about the minimum I would go.

Customer (teenager) just wrecked a scooter I sold her. She wiped out on a gravel road. She was not wearing a helmet and ended up with lacerations above her eye. VERY preventable. At least that's all the damage on her face. The scooter on the other hand.... in my garage waiting on parts.

You can remove the cheek pads on the FF helmet if it gets too hot.

Full face or ugly face? Better to protect what you have than to regret it later. If looks are your concern, best to get a Harley and the pirate outfit to go with it.

Full face helmet only for my head...used to have nightmares when riding motorcycles about grinding my face off on the pavement. Ever seen a human being with his lower jaw removed from a skid on the pavement? Neither have I and I don't want to but have heard of it happening.

yea i have a full face with a retractable shield. its a fancy one has vents and junk. ran me 150$ but hey its nice. have i seen a jaw removed by pavement no. but i have seen someone plow full speed directly into a wall. all that was left was parts of a person. as well as a accident with a biker who wasn't waring a helmet and split his head, he was alive on arrival but died later.
point hear is don't ride into walls and ware a helmet.

I have 2 that I have settled on... a Zox Thunder R full face: www.zoxhelmets.com/86-31241_en.htmla THH open face w/ flipdown shield and retractable sun visor...it is no longer listed by THH, but the Fulmer AF-9B is identical: www.fulmerhelmets.com/product.aspx?id=54on a side note...I work night shifts and want to be seen so...the Fulmer has a reflector built-in to the back of the helmet & I have a reflective safety sticker on the back of the Zox

I use a Sparx brand FF helmet, here's a video!
Go somewhere that sells helmets, try them on before buying online.
Sparx replaces helmets for free when you are in an acident. My acident last year damaged my helmet. I woulda smacked my temple on the pavement without a helmet. If I had money to spend on a high quality modular helmet w/ double visor I would. I didnt like the cheaper ones I tried. Sparx helmets are of simple/quality design in the $150 range.
