>:(Icebear is total junk! I bought one and they just droped at my door without even checking it out first. Then I find it will not run and have to search for a loose wire. After finding the loose wire, NO HELP FROM THE DEALER, it started. I ran it down the street and poof it quit. I pushed home and found the fuse blown at the battery. I replaced the fuse and no start. I checked the spark plug and no spark. No help from the dealer now, it's Saturday. Even if I get it running again where will it leave stranded next time, 10 miles from home? Don't buy Icebear scooters or for that matter, any CHINESE garbage! I just bought one it will be delivered Tuesday. Truck company called yesterday to make arrangements said if I wasn't home they would not deliver. This is my first scooter. I did some research before I made the decision. I found out I needed to do a full prep before I took it out. x1scooters.com/pdi.html I have read this and plan to follow it. When you received your trike did you do this sort of process? Did you check the dealer out before you made the purchase? I chose to buy from Rapid Repair because of what I read here. Everything I have read about Jim says to me I'll get the help should I need it. Did you know ahead of time that you would be required to do the setup? Have you ever purchased a new car? Was the car dropped off at your home or was it delivered to a dealer who prepped it before you got to drive it away? Guess what??? With the direct delivery of a scooter or trike you are the dealer. If your trike isn't running you did a poor prep job. If you did the prep and are having problems and the person you purchased it from will not help then you selected the wrong dealer to buy from. I am sorry you are having problems and if you want to get it on the road there are people here who will help.

hwhoskins, Which trike do you have, if you just settle down we will get your trike in good shape. I have had mine since march of 2009 and never has left me stranded BUT I did fix anything that was questionable. It is very reliable starts up on the first push of the button and I ride on trips over 50 miles one way and back again.
Having said that Open Up your own Thread with what problems you are having with the Trike and BE SPECIFIC about the problem or problems. Different problems can point to several things that need attention and fixed or adjusted. Lefty

PDI PDI PDI. i may just be blowing air but i dont know of a single reputable dealer that will just "drop" your delivery at your door. as something as expensive as a $4000 scoot would have to be signed for. thats alot of money to just dump on your doorstep.

oh and btw up until now i have never owned anything but chi-scoots. i know they will need some work and maintanence but will serve you as well as anything if taken care of properly. one of my favorite movie quotes is in armageddon when the russian cosmonaut is fighting with the american woman on the shuttle. he says" American parts, Russian part, all made in taiwan!!!" and then gives it a good smack. i think my point is made

Wow... sounds like a dream I had.....Ordered new Ice Bear and was delivered buy the factory top - Tech in a new truck. The trike was wrapped in a 2 inch cotton type blanket, he took it off the truck, tuned it and even wased the trike and polliched it befor he left. It was a great experence untill he started to pull away and said...Hey Bud be sure and go stright to the gas station as we just put enough in to check her out....beep . beep...and he was gone.......
You think they could have at least filled the tank....

Gooooo!!! Jim.
Quick question about the Compeller rear independent suspension... you rode it, does the rear wheel lean into a tite curve somewhat (hug the road), so it doesnt lift up like the videos of the 150cc's? --thanks Savy

I have ridden the Magnum and yes it does hug the road a lot better than the straight Axel did. With a straight Axel if you hit a bump with one wheel it forces the whole rear to flex and taking curves to fast will cause a wheel to lift off the ground. With the independent this does not happen. You can jerk a wheel off the ground if you are going to fast. The multiple shock and half shaft design gives a much better ride. Jim/Owner Rapid Repair

I am the only dealer ( that I have noticed ) on this board that sells Ice Bear Products. The others that are defending them are end users and only a few of them have bought from me. I don't make my living just selling Ice Bear Products, we service all kinds of machines, cars, trucks, bikes, atvs ect. I will say that Ice Bear has treated me very well when it comes to service, information and warranty support! Not once have they argued with me over a warranty issue, even when I didn't sell the machine to start with. Now I have yet to sell a Road Warrior but, have two customers now ( their dealers would not support them) that own them and love them. The parts they needed were a clutch cable, set of rear pads and a speedo sensor, all covered under warranty. Neither one of them has rear end problems and both ride them regularly. Ice Bear has warrantied a few rear diffs but, whether it was customer related failure or manufacturer's fault is unclear. I agree that 3 rear ends in 6 mos is not right but, unless I have missed a post or two you are the only one that has replaced 3 of them. Kinda makes a person wonder if you had the reverse mechanism adjusted correctly so that it went fully into gear. Still if this is the case you should have gotten all 3 under warranty. Ice Bear has warrantied a few rear diffs ( I called and asked) but, whether it was customer related failure or manufacturer's fault is unclear, since they did not require the old one back before issuing a new one under warranty. I do know that Ice Bear had issues with the 150cc machines with reverse, hence the 150s don't come with a reverse option anymore. Don't get me wrong anything can fail. According to Ice Bear the tries that are on the Road Warriors are DOT approved, I have not seen one so I can not say as to the speed rating but, find it hard to believe it is 15MPH. Finally, One upset customer does not make a class action lawsuit. Jim/Owner Rapid Repair

I run the tar out of my Magnum.....I did replace the rear gear box but that was some 5,000 miles ago and it really was not that much of a job. Ice Bear has replaced the gear box, no questions asked, I may buy another trike from them I really like the 150-11.
Oh, I am not a dealer and I did not purchase from Rapid Jim...This forum is to sssist and help others with Scooters and replys like this is just friut less....I purchased a new car a few years back that was a lemon gave it back to them and moved on....

One upset customer? ?? Damn man what are you smoking! Between here and scooter docs there could be a forum. Just o the rearends problems! And page after page of people buying these unknown trikes isnt one upset customer? Maybe the other road warrior Guy was lying in his thread about the Guy at Firestone saying his tires were seperating! They get your money and its too bad sucker..don't tell someone this is ok..its BS and you know it unless your Chinese and not american

Too bad sucker would be if they didn't warranty the parts! As I said before the majority of the rear end issues you are talking about pertain to the 150cc machines. Separation of a tire even happens to top brand name tires. I also know that Ice Bear has replaced tires in the past under warranty. Once again did the "Dealer" do his/her job? ? "its BS and you know it unless your Chinese and not american" This comment is totally off the wall and in my opinion not worth my time to comment on! No sense in me even trying to respond to someone that has an unwavering position and won't listen. Jim

I'm not a dealer either but I'm also not afraid to dive into a motor. OK so you hate Ice Bear...great then get off and go buy yourself a Honda. I have both an Ice Bear 300 and a Honda 900 and they are about equal on reliabilty thus far. If you want something you probably won't have to do diddly squat to, then go buy a Honda Goldwing trike. You sure won't get one for this price but atleast it will get you off our forum and b******* about a bad decision that YOU made. There are so many of us willing to help with any problem you may have but when you use the time to complain versus ask for help then it immediately turns most of us off. No the Ice Bear is not the quality of a other things you can buy, but you certainly don't pay the huge price either. Just a quick recommendation for all that might read this. If you have zero mechanical skills then I too would not recommend Ice Bear or any other scooter either. They all require a little TLC from time to time. vr,

well for starters its really kinda dumb to compare these scooters to a goldwing! thats like comparing a camaro to a lamburghini. not much of a point. just to set the record straight i work in a shop building motors for nascar so ill match my mechanical skills with anyone on her but again not the point. the point is if you buy something you should get what is advertised and not whatever they send you. these bikes have serious issues. saftey issues that could kill you. this road warrior was bought for my father who was diagnoised with cancer and give a year to a year and a half to live and was suppose to atleast i thought it would give him reason to hang on a little longer so we paid extra for the pdi and still the front shock fell off doing 50mph and the foot shifter doing 40 and 3 rearends in 6 months. hes 74 and does not ride it hard either. this bike deal has depressed him almost worse than the cancer. it was suppose to help him enjoy the little time he has left and instead its always broke or sitting in the dealers shop. he has it back now but hes scared to ride it because he doesnt fill safe. i live 70 miles from him and i cant always come get him off the side of the road so no matter what some smartass on here says i think these bikes are junk and they are dangerous. what good is something your scared you might die on because something breaks that could bust one of the golfcart tires going down the road? the shifter wasnt bolted on it was welded so a pdi cant help that. thats all im gonna say about this company so go on and tell everybody how great they are and when they kill someone it can be on you

The internet gives everyone the right to be as brave as the key strokes will let them. I don't take it personal. I'm on here to learn about these scoots and help others when I can too. I for one appreciate your posts...keep em coming. On another note did you have any problem at all with your 300 when you got it all PDI'd? Mine was extremely hard to start when I first got it and it took me several weeks to get it squared away. Oh yeah and whose the smart a**?? Rapid Jim, Mike, me, or you? I was kinda confused on that issue.

you know, just because of all the b!@ching and griping from just a ver few ppl on here( my guess would be about 40:1) i think i may just buy one so that way i can do my own mechanical work myself and not spend my time blowing off about things that anyone with a standard tool set and an inkling of knowledge to fix these probs. i'm all for the sink or swim approach. but by the gods. IMHO a person shoud learn how to work on thier bikes rather than bitch in a thread that ppl are trying to help you on. if you can fix it then maybe a scooter of ANY type just isnt the way to go. so stop you bitching and either fix it or send it back. just OP

I was told by a scooter dealer not to buy an ice bearor any chinese trike. Nothing but problems. Rear ends worst as it is same as a lawn mower and will not stand up to higher speeds.

I think this forum has cost the chinese manufacturors in general and ice bear dealers and builders several sales. It has reminded me several times about the problem potential in chinese scoots and makes me very cautious. It even hurts the sale of used ones. Had ice bear bought this scoot back and gone a bit overboard to keep the customer happy, this woud have disappeared long ago. Instead, few of us read but a little of it. Put simply. PIs one customer off and he will darn near beat you to death. Make him happy and he or his friend will be back. Look at the big box stores. almost never a question about why you want your money back. Hyundai leaned the answer to their bad reputation was to put a garentee on the was longer and more generous by far than any other manufacturor. And they did not need to be bailed out like all our manufacturors did. JUst my dime. Cheers

ya know guys, a trike is a problematic machine when made by anybody.
A few things stand clear-
Some folks don't care, they like to "TRYKE" and they like working on them
another thing that is clear "Rapid Jim" has cornered the market on managing these "Trikes"
If you are gonna trike, your gonna have to baby it a little.
But if you do that, you get to 'tryke"

Thanks Terra for the kind words! I try very hard to help my customers and anyone else that needs it.
Imnts2: "Had ice bear bought this scoot back and gone a bit overboard to keep the customer happy, this woud have disappeared long ago" To my knowledge there is not a distributor or manufacturer out there that buys a machine back, hmmm try that with Ford or Yamaha and see how far you get. On the other hand, warranty and customer service is expected. These items fall to the dealer that sold the machine not the distributor/manufacturer. Where the distributor furnishes the warranty parts, the dealer is the one that has to do the work to ensure his customer gets what he needs. Sad to say there are some dealers out there that fall way short in this category. I can say that IceBear does go out of their way to make sure their dealers have what they need for their customers.

Jim/Owner Rapid Repair many blocks from me there is a con-am, if i said that right, I think the guy spent more on that bike then his house, you ready for this, cause no one will believe me
$43,000, his dam diet is a nightmare, but where ever he can he puts harly parts on this thing
most times he works on it it is for some harly part he has morphed to get on there, but at the end of the day, my 200cc xingyue is more dependable.
for me, scooter's are a culture
trykes are a culture
big bikes are a culture,
and in mating season, in the heat of the night,
they will never be similar enough to be completely be attracted to one another.
Rapid Jim, i would hang in there, especially with all your many successes.
maybe a smaller market, but come hell and high prices, folks want these trykes.
Some day ice bear will call you in and say-
"Tell us what we don't know"
hahahahahahah
And i bet you have much to say.

Most of us trike owner have a handicap and can not always ride a regular scooter and do not have 20K to spend on a trike. Now if we can do better on a trike for the money please let us know.
I own a Magnum 300 with 8,000 plus miles on it, with several Mods on it and it is a safe means to travel at 65mph and great around town...
When I am able I own and ride a Honda Reflex 250 so I too know a little about well built scooters.
Oh...I am not a dealer...The Ice Bear Trikes a great machines for a person that can do his own repairs / service. A good PDI and always change nut and bolts to Standards and your good to go.
We here in the trike section will assist and help with problems to any member

I GOT TO TELL YOU I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE 300 CC ICE BEAR MAGNUM. COULDNT WAIT TO GET IT, WELL IT CAME AND WHEN THE DEALER PUT IT TOGETHER IT HAD LIGHT PROBLEMS 80 DOLLARS LATER IT WAS FIXED. THEN AT 300 MILES I HAD TO GET TOWED TO THE DEALER CAUSE I DEVELOPED A MASSAVE OIL LEAK WHERE THE HEAD MEETS THE CASE. 350 DOLLARS LATER WE WERE BACK ON THE ROAD. THE FRONT END SHIMMIED SO BAD THAT I CHANGED THE FRONT TIRE FOR A PERELLI TIRE AND HAD IT BALANCED FOR ABOUT A 100 DOLLARS. THE FIBERGLASS SHROUD ON THE REAR STARTED CRACKING AND I REMOVED IT AND FIBERGLASSED IT REAL GOOD AND OUT IT BACK TOGETHER FOR ABOUT 40 DOLLARS. WHILE I HAD THE WHEELS OFF I HAVE INDEPENDENT SUSPENSION AND EACH HUB THAT THE WHEELS BOLT TO ARE SO LOOSE YOU CAN MOVE THEM UP AND DOWN AND SIDE TO SIDE. THE BUSHINGS ARE SMALLER IN SIZE THAN THE HOLE AND THE BOLT THAT GOES THROUGHT THE BUSHING IS ALSO SLOPPU. PUT THE 2 TOGETHER AND YOU GOY A LOT OF SLOP. THE DEALER TRIED TO GET PARTS FROM THE DISTRIBUTER IN CALIF AND SHE DOESNT WANT TO STAND BEHIND HER PRODUCT. CAN YOU HELP ME FIND A REP FOR ICE BEAR THAT I CAN TALK TO.YOU WOULD THINK THEY WOULD WANT TO HEAR ABOUT THESE PROBLEMS SO THEY COULD CORRECT THEM AND SOLVE SOME OF THESE PROBLEMS. IM NOT GIVING UP ON THIS TRIKE BUT IF YOU OWN ONE YOU BETTER BE HANDY AND READY TO PUT SOME WORK ON IT . LET ME HEAR FROM YOU.
