Checker and Triker,
Good luck on what ever you do, I understand what a PITA these things can be. Maybe the scooter guy can even get it running the way you need it to and you hang on to it. Stranger things happen and again trust but verify.

Checker,
Good luck to you and your wife!!!! I hope this dealer isn't one of those that just want to get you into the door and bad mouth what you own and try to sell you something and not give you much for yours. I take it you still haven't found the spark issue. Before you take it somewhere, if you haven't done it yet, check to make sure that the stator plug and pickup wires are tightly connected. Just look on the right hand side of the motor and follow the wires. Now this might sound really stupid, but is your kill switch on? I have chased my tail a time or two in frustration just to find that someone (me) had it on.

I think I will do just as you suggest because I've decided to keep the Magnum for myself and make it my "project". Things have turned out for the best so far. Christy (Triker) and I went to a Can Am dealership earlier today to check out the Spyder. In fact, here's my wife checking out one on the showroom floor: She fell in love with it and went ahead and bought one. She didn't buy the one in the picture, instead she picked a blue and black one. She got on and off it pretty darn good if you ask me. I'm kind of envious, ha ha. Anyway, now that I am the proud owner of a Magnum myself, perhaps I can hang around and milk everyone for more knowledge. Of course, since this thread is getting pretty long I will post a little more appropriately in the future. Thanks again, and I will follow up on my progress with the Magnum. It might be a week or two before I can spend much time with it, but now I don't feel so much pressure.

Some of you here have forgotten the past history about many brand names like Harley, Honda and Kawasaki, to mention a few. People who buy BMW’s don’t contemplate buying Hyundai or Kia.
The price alone should have been the definitive answer into what you were getting. I’m in no way defending Chinese goods but it goes without saying; just like your grandma told you.
If you wanted to put the life of your wife in good hands, you should have gone for GOOD OLD proven technology from the Island the American’s bombed a long time ago. You can’t beat experience and good trial and error. Dealers stick it to you for a reason; brick and mortar building. The 95% assembled label and free shipping means; you own it you fix, saila baio………

Well, we're certainly not rich ... which is why we thought to save money by getting the Magnum in the first place. I knew there was a risk we would not be happy with it but on the other hand there was the chance that it would have been every bit as it was advertised. Of course, Triker still likes the Magnum even though it isn't running yet.
As for the Can-Am, we financed it for 4 years to get the lowest rate and paid about 17K for it. Just ordered some pull-back risers and taller windshield so Triker can get a better position but so far she absolutely loves it.
I got a friend who I might ask over this weekend to help me get the Magnum going again. I'm so confident it will be road worthy again I bought some better handle bars which pull back about three more inches and are about an inch taller. According to my measurements I should be able to mount them with the existing cables, wires, and brake lines. I'll follow-up on that here when I get it done.

I am positive you will get the Magnum running as it should and you two can then go out riding on the three wheelers to show them off. Lefty

I believe 100 percent that if I had done my homework and ordered my Magnum from Rapid Repair (or any other dealer who takes customer service serious) I would have had a completely different experience. I said it before, I hope nobody reads this thread and thinks that ALL Chinese scoots or all Magnums in particular are lemons. That is not the case ... I know. Even though I did not buy my Magnum from Jim, he STILL bends over backwards to help me out here on the forum ... I can only imagine how much better it is for his customers.

Checker: I got the 2" risers for mine and had to work at it to get them on but I didn't go up under to see what was really available in extra cable and wires. I don't think you'll have a problem with 3" but it might be tight. What size rear tires did you finally go with??

What size rear tires did you finally go with?? I kept the original size. One that was shipped on the trike was out-of-round and I wanted to get a set with a taller aspect ratio but in the end I just replaced the bad tire with a good one of the same size.

Ok thx. I really want to go with the 255/50-12 size but it is going to be a very close fit. Also I'm not fond of putting them on a 6.5" rim, but have not found an 8 " width rim I like with 6 to 6.5 inch back spacing (that I will need). Hope the Spyder is good to you guys!

Sterling, To fix the reading you have to take the Float Sensor Unit out and bend the Float Wire. In your case you have to bend the Float Wire up more it is reaching the bottom of the travel to soon. There is not much swivel travel on the Arm that holds the wire and Float against the Resistor Plate that makes your gauge needle move. First Drain the tank or ride it until you have about 1 gallon left and then siphon the or drain the remaining gas, I use a hand pump I got from Harbor Frieght for less than $10.00. Then take the Unit out being CAREFULL with the actual Float it BARELY fits through the hole in the tank do NOT FORCE it or it will break right off the wire and into your tank. Then the way I calculate how much to bend the Wire up or down is I hold the unit along side the Tank as if the UNIT WAS IN THE HOLE and EYEBALL where the FLOAT is WHEN ALL THE WAY DOWN. Then I bend the WIRE where I want the FLOAT WHEN I think there is about at least 1 gallon left. On my gauge at the bottom before the "E" there is a RED little Square so I adjusted mine so that when in the Read Square I have about 1 Gallon Left. You can turn the ignition on and see where it will register on your guage when holding the unit along side the tank after you bend the Wire Holding the Float. Now here is what is going to change, it will now register FULL for a longer period of time because the Swivel Plate only moves up and down so far. The reason is now when FULL the ACTUAL FLOAT will be UNDER WATER as they say and will not start to drop until the Gas drops below the FLOAT then the gauge will start to register as the gas level drops. I have almost a five gallon tank in mine and it will Register Full for the FIRST 2 Gallons then the gauge will start to register and I have it set so that I have Approx 1 1/2 gallons left when the needle is in the RED SQUARE on the gauge before the "E". Also if your sensor has 4 screws holding onto the tank, Do not Tighten them a lot meaning do not crank on the screws they will strip. Also tighten them evenly crisscross and just snuge them on. Then put gas in it and fill it till the level covers the sensor hole so you can check for leaks. If it leaks from the top snuge the top nuts, if it leaks from the bottom snuge the bottom nuts. Hope this helps Lefty This is what you will see, this shot is FULL position: Also before you put it back in make sure that Swivel is not loose, if so tigthen it up by pushing in the locking washer. I took it locking washer off and used a small Brass Collar which have a setscrew to hold it in place(2nd Pic).

oK, Update on this here bear....After lifting her dress...sorry...removing rear deck and bottom front under panel I got to really see things. The rear adjuster for the shifter, forward/reverse had totally vibrated loose after a little adjusting and going by sound some major vibrations solved... As for the not getting fire some times and stalling until she just would not start...I found a double wire plug jack unplugged, it was tied back to frame with other wires and the spark plug wire jumping around caused it to open and separated but you could not see them until I cut the factory ties and they seperated.... Now still having some bucking on take off, the belt was slipping and the bell dirty and well, I just drone it to the shop and they will check and repair the drive system... I took a ride, over 35 miles this Am and she is just awesome..........@#$% I love it........ It is my opinion that if you take the time, ask questions here it is simple to repair these scoots. Checkers, same same Big Al....Thanks buddy ....Now I can tell you all if this guy sales something he will tell all and you can take that to the bank... End of story is the Ladies name is Silver Bullet and she got class
@#$% what was I Doing..........
