Yes the head is a major improvment about 30% increase in area on intake and exhaust. The intake I am using is 20mm up from from 17mm I think it was, the carb is a 20mm slide and the exhuast is 20mm up from 17mm. I cant wait to get it running but I have a few things to do before I can start her up.

I drilled the new intake and installed a fitting to supply vacum to operate the gas valve still have to install it.

I had the scoot started today I have a vacum leak I think in the heat shield where I reamed it out to 20mm to match the head and intake. I will have to pull the carb and the intake back off and make gaskets. It did sound good just wouldnt idel down and hesitated on reving.

Cut new gaskets today and put them on after work I couldnt take the scoot on a good speed run but I made a few short passes only thing I can say is Holy SH1T! I will let you all know how it fares after I get things adjusted and can make a few good runs.

I wouldnt say that Dave most of what I have done came from your tread and I still have alot of tuning to do it will take me months of adjusting to get everything in tune this time of year. I haven't even done any jetting on the carb. I have to route all the hoses and wires and tie them back. I have to check the adjustment of the valves as well in my rush to get the engine sealed back up I forgot to adjust them. I havent done a plug read either. I just rode it around in a few circles but was really impressed.

I am going to give it away to anyone that will pay shipping as soon as I tear down Dawgs enigine incase I need parts from it. I also will do the same with the piston and cly. so you would really get a 72cc kit for shipping less gaskets and rings.

Dave I made three runs counting it took to a count of one thousand eight to one thousand 10 to bury the speedo that is saying well past the fourty mph mark.

Well the high end isnt that great the way it is sounding and acting I need to up jet the carb. I dont have a good spot to stop after a high speed run but got a new plug and I did the best I could and the plug was white so I had better order some jets a 85 is not big enough. Wow up till the speedo is buried it is a beast lol. but it will bury it at half throdle or less.

what is the speedo's top marking 40 or 50 KM?--What was your top RPM's?--did you do the count I told you about?

Yes I did the count you was talking about and it was one thousand eight to one thousand ten depending on how slow or fast I said it. The tach showed only around 5500 rpm and the top speed marked on the speedo is 40mph I had the speedo buried by the end of the count well past the fourty mph mark so even if it was off by say five mph I was still hitting fourty and that along with the normal speed of traffic on the road I am sure it is well above the fourty mph mark But I am running lean at the top end and need to rejet to hit the top speed. to give you a ideal there is a huge hill at my brothers house before I could only get to 25mph at the worst part now the speedo was above fourty so even if there is five mph differance I gained the 30% up hill that I was after. And think it will be more after rejetting.

You can't trust the tachs on those scooters. You can upjet by drilling out the main jet with a #60 drill. Better would be to use a reamer if you know a machinist who can loan you one.

Did you drill it? it shows a 85 thats what is in the carb now so unless you drilled it I still have to wait till the new jets come in. I ordered them today a 90, 96 and a 100 I think it was.

Oh an dawg that scoot kicks but5. I cant wait to get the carb jetted, rollers changed out ect and see its full potental. From a start going up hill it will pull a wheelie with ease. It is strong past the piont of burying the speedo and still has room but starts dies out its to lean and the plug read agrees with that.

Hey daddy, (so awkward calling anyone daddy ) I was about to upjet my SC50 this is what I got so far, 1.72cc kit 2. Foam intake 3. high flow exhaust 4. roller weights (not installed yet) Was wondering if i should just upjet my carb (38, and 88), or buy a new carb (size recommendation?) and upjet that. I think the one I have now is 17mm (thats what the venturi opening is). Thanks in advance. Oh, forgot to mention. My scooter is backfiring really loud when decellarating but spark plug color looks ideal. Not white or black, juuussst right.

Normally when you go with a high flow air filter and a free flow exhaust you must up jet. There are a couple of treads or down loads on here that tells how to do a plug read. You might want to look at them and do another plug read with a fresh plug. 17mm is what my scoot was before I changed it. As far as what you should do is a matter of what you what to spend and what tyoe of gains you what to get. The intake and exhaust valves on the little scoots are very small look at the pics. Thats why I went with a 82cc kit and head. I am not sure that the 72cc kits that come with a head are any larger. Have you advanced the timing? Although I have done alot to my scoot I have not worked with alot of scoots I think you maybe running lean and if you havent replaced the plug it is showing the reading before you made the changes. Rikers thread has alot of tips in it. You might want to read it. I hope this helps but if not feel free to email me.

Stradelle25 The 38-88 works for me check the spark gap set it at 0.035 to 0.40" try both. Daddyeby and I are running slide carbs mine is a 20mm I think his is to in that I am running 53 and a 100. --if you go much larger that the 20 you will have to do some mod's to the connections. I'm Another Texan, Dallas is home town. Like daddeby said check my thread "50cc/80cc 139QMB Mods it might help you some. read from the beginning.
