odd that Yamaha Vino and Zuma models appear to be mfr'd in China under supervision of Yamaha Taiwan. these are two very good scoots ... but they are actually Chinese made much to the chagrin of China haters.

LOL, if the truth be known, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, and just about all 'big name' makers have been contracting with Chinese factories for DECADES!! There has never been a question for any rational person as to IF the China folks were capable of excellence in manufacturing (they do build jet engines ya know, extremely tight tolerances or they disintegrate) more of a question has been DID they have quality as a goal when they did make something... the better and increased quality being seen today shows us that some of those folks actually 'get it' and are changing their standards to better fit the market of today! ;d Good for us, but sad it has taken so long, and even worse for those that got bit with the real junk! Guess it should keep the prices down for a while until the rest of the riders 'realize' that there is some worthwhile rides coming in!!

It is a stereo-type, that is made worse by the over-publication and "Propaganda", crafted by suggestive comments.
Quality is not synonymous with any specific region, unless that region only manufactures one style, in a constant quality.
USA makes good stuff, and real bad stuff. China makes good stuff and real bad stuff. Japan makes good stuff and real bad stuff.
Funny actually... a majority of the items we all use every day, are from China... Though assembled in other countries. Assembly has little to do with quality. Not like they are throwing away the bad parts to make high quality assembly.
I am still not sure that I want to spend half the price of a car, for a motorized bike... No matter how well it is assembled, or created. By the statistics, I am not alone.
Even if I was rich... I would rather have five "Valued" scooters, over one "Over-priced" scooter. Rice is rice... Don't charge me for a steak.
Hmmm, I might put together a program to translate vins into scooters. Could help a lot of people who are having difficulty determining what "Off-brand" scoot they actually have.

My Linhai 300 is not on the list, the VIN begins with LL but I have always suspected that they are made in the same factory as my brother's Yamaha VINO 125. The factory is 50% owned by Yamaha. Thanks for the link. Oldkid

The listing for the LD5 matched my Roketa MC54-250B OK.
I ran a VIN check and got this information back on it: VIN LD5TDNxxxxxxxxxx DECODED 2007 Benzhou Vehicle Industry Group null Country CHINA Make Benzhou Vehicle Industry Group Vehicle Type Motorcycle Motorcycles Type Scooter Body Type unknown Fuel Type Horsepower Check Digit X Model Year 2007 Assy. Oldkid, I sent him an e-mail with the information for Linhai - "LL8".
Ask your brother for the first three characters of his VIN #. Also, ask him to look for the metal tag identifying the factory of origination.

Thanks scooterollie, I noticed that he has included it this morning. I will check on the numbers on the Vino 125 next chance I get. My Bali title reads Roketa Motorcycle Manufacturer, the first 3 of the VIN is L J 4. It seems to be well made, but not all Roketa's are made in the same factory. Same as GM or Ford I guess. Oldkid

Oldkid, The title name is not the real manufacturer. That will be on the Federal plate on your scoot. My Bali 250 is from Bashan Astronautical ..... . The quality under the skin is decent but the panel quality is poor. Biggest problem I had with it was poorly positioned or missing hose clamps. No hose clamp on the line at the gas tank and no hose clamp at the line at the carb. Had a pinched shut main coolant hose hidden under the radiator fill neck that caused the scoot to blow the hose off the water pump on the first test.
