If you only want the new LEDs to work with the engine running.....probably ok to wire them to the AC circuit. You'll be using AC instead of DC this way. I've read some LEDs won't work off AC however. The tail lights on my 150 work off AC (only with the engine running).....I replaced the normal 1157 bulbs with LED bulbs. No problem.
Normally these scoots work the horn off DC......so you can find a switched 12V DC wire right on the horn, or right on the turn signal relay also.

I had this conversation on my question about 9mm wedge LED bulbs. One of our fellow dawgs responded to the statement about using LEDs for running lights by saying "Just watch out, the license plate and running lights may be powered by AC and it will likely destroy your LEDs", to which another dawg said "Powered through the AC system but the voltage to the lights should be DC." Others confirmed that the DC LEDs would work fine. All of which is to say that now I'm very confused.

Here's what Bashan says from the scooterdoc site: Yep, here is my stator: [image] from this article I wrote a few months back. My yellow wire, which supplies AC voltage, powers almost all of the lights on the front of the scooter. When the stator cranks up with the engine, they light up. The lights that come on when the key is first turned on run off of a DC circuit through the ignition switch. The light bulbs throughout the scooter run off of AC or DC, they just need electrons scrambling around. The lights that are sensitive to current flow are light emitting diodes and now I understand some of those don't care. How'd I get on this subject? Anyway, I'm going to put a 35 Watt bucket light on the front of my project scooter and run AC through it with the original wiring set up that I had on my Bashan. I figure that's enough pull on the yellow that the rectifier regulator will think things are pretty normal. What the hell does it know? It can't see a damn thing outside that metal container! I noticed in the pics that he has only one rear shock on the scooter. What is the reason for this as i have seen it on several different pics and was wondering if the scooter gets lowered, or is it just for weight reduction.
