Here's a small collection of cheap mods done to my Roketa 50, some have separate threads, some haven't been posted before. The normal PDI stuff is mostly done to this scoot......here's some bling, some practical stuff. Need more info about anything in particular, just ask. So far everything pictured is working w/o problems. I may add to this list.....there are a few things I forgot to include. Stay tuned. #1 Wind deflector off a Keeway scoot, turn signal mirrors (ebay), silver pin striping. #2 Multifunction LCD display from Radio Shack. #3 Multifunction LCD speedometer display from Target. #4 Bar end mirror from Target w/wide angle mirror from O'Rilleys. #5 DIY carpet floor board cover from Walmart DIY (Velcroed on) #6 LED side marker lights from Walmart, Engine bay cooler fan (Computer fan). #7 DIY rear fender extension (cut-up coffee can). #8 DIY side splash shield (rubber garage door seal). #9 Removable lunch carrier ( a belt pack from Walmart) #10 Insulated soft-side cooler from Walmart). #11 Small rubber mud-flap DIY (made from a cabinet kick base), custom reflective license-replacement from Home Depot. That's it for now.....the little rear carriers are only on there when needed. The rest of the stuff is semi-permanently attached. The LCD displays are easily removable (not sure how they'd do in the rain). Happy modding.....

More small mods...... #12 Cut-down ignition keys for more knee room. Velcro pad keep the keys and the remote from rattling against the body. #13 Small chain acting as a retention strap for the door, taking tension off lower hinges when door is open. Power socket, stored inside the glove box, used for battery charging, and etc. #14 Modded glove box door.....bent to fit properly using a heat gun on the plastic. Before modification this door stuck out 1/4" on the corners when closed. More to come......

Here's a few more... Mod#15 A pop-up spring for the seat, allowing opening the seat with one hand (the other hand holding something). Mod#16 A drawer pull handle, screwed on, allowing the secure attachment of different items. Mod#16 A Walmart shopping bag ($1)....fits right in there and holds a bunch of stuff. Leaves room for your feet. More mods in store...

Latest batch..... #17 Modification to the carpeted floor-mat.....two-piece now and extends further up. #18 LED fog/driving light, mounted to the new front fender (off some unknown scoot) #19 Rear red LED side marker light, to match the front side marker light. This light can also be seen from the rear. Small ATV fender mounted over the DIY fender (looks stock) #20 Rubber flap mounted to the storage bucket. Keeps the carb and engine much cleaner. Body mods are almost completed......on to the BBK shortly.

I have an extra horn from my 51 Chevy that is really loud when used on 12 volts. I'm thinking of putting it on (somewhere hidden) for a little extra "respect" when needed.
Great mods, but I think I like the carpet most of all.

Not necessarily a mod, but after losing 2 springs off my center stand, I'm determined not to lose the third one. It's just a large tie wrap (from a set of contractor bags). It has no load what so ever; it's just there to keep the spring from flying if it pops off again.

I've been worried sick about that Dcat! Already lost my center stand spring twice in the backyard. I was almost to the point of ordering a back up set, so Thanks!

Just curious, where did you attach the computer fan? I'm fairly positive that would burn out directly on the battery? Also are any of the LEDs hooked up to the electrical system, or are they just battery powered?

Both the computer fan and all the LEDs have a very low current draw. They can be wired directly to any circuit on all these scoots (that I know about) that turns on when the key is in the ignition position (without the engine running).
On this Roketa the tail light comes on without the engine running.....so the positive wires for the fan and the LEDs could be attached to that 12V wire. That means the extra LEDs and the fan would turn on/off with the key. For the fan I wired in an additional on/off switch so the fan can be turned off in cooler weather.
The additional current draw for all the extra stuff is <1 amp. The OEM stator handles it easily.
Oh....most computer fans work off 12V DC, and can be wired into a scooter electrical system w/o problem. The fan here came out of a computer server. It's heavy-duty, but cannot be heard with the engine running.

Now all I have to do is turn the radio dial and the lights and fan turn on. If I forget to turn the lights and fan off..they will turn off automaticaly when shut of the scoot. So far this setup has worked great for me.

I have a fairly heavy duty fan from a computer that no longer works, but there is four wires coming out of it, would this be possible to wire up? I was planning on using two, one like you did and one for an oil cooler I have planned for, a toggle switch was my first idea but having them run when I turn the key would be much better, as I live in a hot desert climate I have no plans of not running these fans, the cooler the better as we never see temps below 60 at the absolute most, but very often see temps close to 120F. I will probably have to wire them to the head light or the tail light, and I'm thinking tail light as I am also modifying my head lights to be turned off when I want the to be.

If it's a 12v fan, it still probably has way too much current draw for the system....no matter how it was hooked up. On the computer fans, you usually find a sticker on the center hub that lists the current draw in watts or amps. 12 watts equals 1 amp. Depending on your stator, you could probably run a 1 amp fan all the time while the engine is running without the battery going dead. My setup is less than that, so no problems. When you add extra electrical stuff to a scooter, you need to be certain you don't exceed the stator's capacity, otherwise your battery will for certain go dead after a while. You can usually add all the LEDs you want since their current draw is so small. Fans on the other hand could be too much for the system.....likewise heated riding gear, high-watt headlights, fog lights, etc. I added all these extra LEDs to my 150cc Xingyue, plus a computer fan like on the Roketa, even though the Xingyue stator has marginal output.....

That's awesome! The two fans I plan on running total .4amps together, I was planning on replacing many of the lights with LEDs, but have been having trouble finding them.

You can find whatever you need here, thats were I got mine. Normally your turn signals are 1156, stop lights are 1157 same as on cars. I have 1156 13w amber for turn signals and 1157 13w for stop lights, I also have wedge leds for the instrument panel and xneon lights for the two small running lights alongside the headlights. took apart my whole bike to check the lights, Every light but my headlight and tail light are wedge bulbs tail is 1157. Is this normal? I'm not complaning as wedge bulbs are cheaper but I'm surprised.

That is normal, Your headlights and tail lights are NOT wedge type bulbs. All the others usually are Wedge type bulbs. Yes Stop Tail bulb are 1157 and your Turn Signals may be 1156. Lefty

Just an amateur inventor of sorts....been doing mods to various vehicles since I can remember. Beats buying a new car/cycle all the time, simply because I got tired of it. If you see any computer photos with a "Bluefront Tech" watermark, that's an invention/mod of mine. Here's an example...a basically wood computer case with two separate computers inside. ;D

that all seems like good mods the only thing that might cause a prob is the fan computer fans are not water proof so thay can short out your elc systum if you hit rain.

"Both the computer fan and all the LEDs have a very low current draw. They can be wired directly to any circuit on all these scoots (that I know about) that turns on when the key is in the ignition position (without the engine running)."
On my scooter the only things that work solely off the key are the gauges. Is there any reason i couldn't splice the led wires into other light wires that do only come on with the engine?? I don't see why not. Thanks, and love your mods. I'm thinking of putting waterproof green LEDs under the rear fender to light up the cvt housing and wheel and I thought I could cut right into the wires for the license plate. Thanks in advance.
