Whizzer Motor Bike. I was 14 or so and saved my money delivering news papers like most kids at the time. It was 1948 and the Whizzer was a kit you installed yourself on your own bike, I had to anyway. It was fun and much faster on the route so I could get home and listen to "Sergeant Preston and his dog King" on the radio. It was under powered tho and I had a hard time keeping valves in it.. I put an automatic clutch (Whizzer) on it and it worked fine. Occasionaly I'd have to replace some stops or dogs shaped sort of like "9" except straight leg. I'd like to find another clutch just to remember how they worked. If any one knows of any still around let me know..

Mine was a 1947 Cushman. It was military surplus, came from the naval air station in Jacksonville. It had a side car but I left it off most of the time. It was indestructable, cast iron engine weighed almost as much as many whole modern scooters.

My first motorized two wheels was an AMF Roadmaster Moped, bright orange. it was 2 stroke, after that it was 4 stroke all the way. One of these was also my first. Man that thing sucked!! I bought it at the local hardware store. What a P.O.S.!!
