Morph - I hate to wave the red flag but you should have tried a MS3-250/Xpeed first.

Do you mean Yamaha does'nt recommend it or just in general? The Yamaha manual says not to exceed 9,000 RPM. I find that the Morphous takes hills well. I can even accelerate going up a particularly steep hill. It just accelerates slowly due to the flywheel effect. That is what makes it smooth.

I would suggest you have a go on a SYM Citycom 300i and see how you like it. I find it a good all-round scoot, good in town/city and good on the open road. I've done more than 500kms a day on a number of occasions very comfortably. I've had correspondence with another owner who does 10 000+miles a year on his scooter for his work. In the 10 000+ miles he had the Citycom he only had to change tyres and do regular maintenance. Look here at a chap who did 1000miles in 24 hours. symforum.com/index.php?topic=262.0The SYM engine is derived from the Yamaha engine as they had some agreement at some stage in the past. Quality is comparable to the Japanese scooters. Their engines is even ceramic coated for a longer life. I've done almost 13 000kms on mine with no real issues. Always starts up even when it is minus degC in the shed this last winter. The Citycom is about 7 - 10 mph slower than the Xspeed/MS3-250 at top speed, but then it is significantly more economical on fuel. Just a suggestion.

The Morphous is in a class by itself. There is no replacement for a Morphous. When you see the full width LED taillight, the low seat, and the long body you know you are looking at a scooter unlike any other.

Morph - I hate to wave the red flag but you should have tried a MS3-250/Xpeed first. Oh Please, I wouldn't trade five of those fugly things for my Morphous. Yuck! ;D The Morph, as I stated ,is much better (than my Helix) on the HW and has a higher top as well as more acceleration in the mid to high range. I would not expect the Xspeed to compare to the Morph on the HW, even if it magically turned from an ugly duckling to a swan over night. I had the Morph up to 80 per the speedo, for just a moment. Cruises like butter in the 60-70 range. I am surprised how incredibly stable it feels at those speeds. I was also a bit disappointed in the acceleration, of a Burgman 400 I took for a ride. There are a lot of variables that effect performance. Someone who rides a Morphous who lives in the flat lands and weighs 160lbs will have a different perspective and opinion of the performance compared to someone who rides the same bike, weighs 250lbs and lives in the mountains.

The Morph only has 250 miles on it so I'm still getting used to things and perhaps the engine will benefit from a few more miles.

Morph - I figure our scoots are like women. You bought yourself what you consider a super babe. Now you're finding out that the performance isn't quite as great as you thought it would be. You went for long, slinky. Personally, I found the Xpeed grows on you looks wise and I'll take the extra hp, 40 lbs lighter and higher top end performance. I've had a lot of people come up to me and say what a sharp looking bike it is. In fact, you're the only one who has ever called them "ugly".

The morph is not photogenic, it's waaaayy better looking in person than in the picture. the shape of it's body and the shinyness of it's naked chrome bar makes it a very classy looking scoot. indeed it's considered the cadillac of all scoots. all my neighbors around here thought i am a rich man because of my morphous. ..well , yup morphous is a scooter of attitude. it gives you sense of individualism.

One of the kids in the neighborhood said he loved my Morphous so much that if it was a girl he would marry it.LOL
On my Burgman site when asked why they got a Burgman rather than a Majesty the main reason was their wife or girlfriend preferred the passenger floorboards rather than the fold out foot pegs. The Morphous and the Helix also have passenger floorboards. They are more passenger friendly.

So I would put passenger pegs vs passenger floorboards down as a 'personal preference item'.

Yes but it it due to my assumptions and expectations , not the woman or scoot. I never said ugly, I said Fugly! There is a difference ;D I have less than 100 miles of riding on the Morph. The more I ride it the more I like it. I feel incredibly stable and safe on it and it's much more comfortable to ride than the Helix. It's a tad slower off the line but it eventually catches up and passes the Helix. Lots of women and bikes for all of us. One man's Fugly is anothers piece of art. I've never been crazy about the way the Helix looks either but I ride one, actually two.

The 250 X-speed with 25 HP and a weight of about 360lbs will do just fine on the interstates! JRR My Helix does " just fine" on the interstate. I'm looking for better than "just fine". Even the Ninja 250 struggles if you need to pass at 60mph or faster, according to some of the guys on the Ninja forum. Besides that 250 X-speed is one of the ugliest things I've seen. ;D. Definitely a 400cc in my future to meet my wants and needs on the highways. Got some memory problems there Morph?

taken from Morphous Yahoo group, just sharing. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Both of my motorcycles are in heated storage (Michigan)but left the scoot in our own garage. I now have 1100 + miles driven on it and most with my wife as a passanger. It had 7800 miles on it when I purchased it. She wont ride my on my 1100 and 1400cc motorcycles but will travel with me on the scoot. We have a lot of fun together on trips (most under 45 miles). The very low, very big, and comfortable seat and looks is what convinced her. She won't drive it but always looks forward to hop aboard.
I drove alone today with my brother who has a 1500cc Suzuki and his wife who drives a 883 Harley Sportster. Before the trip I said "try to keep up with me". I drive with them a lot but normally on the motorcycles. The other times on the scoot were with my wife aboard and I try to take it easy and keep it around 45 - 50, 55mph - 60 tops, and in the slow lane. This is for her benefit...and comfort.
I think I surprised them when I maintained a steady 65 to 70mph and was the lead bike most of the way. Speed limit was 55mph so we were at a quick pace.
They have always been impressed with the long and low looks of the Morphous but now they are impressed with the performance and will not underestimate this scoot again. They asked a lot of questions including fastest I've gone 81mph and my best MPG 67.
I love my motorcycles but I have to say there IS also a special place in my heart for this scooter. Really a nice machine... and something my wife can share my interest and enjoy riding too.

Hyosung MS3 250 Owner Comments:
I recently purchased a Hyosung MS3 250 for my wife. We live 56 miles from te dealership in which we purchased the scooter. I am a avid biker and I drove the bike back to our home. I was very
impressed with the comfortable ride.I
rate it a 5 of 5.The performance was
impressive. It had all the pow...er to enter the interstate and keep up with the speed limit. I rate that a 5 of 5. The quality of the MS3 amazed me for a Korean scooter. It has a great look as well great quality of material in the body and the engine. I rate that 5 of 5 also. The Value of the MS3 250 was better than what I had look for in the other scooters we shopped for. That I would rate 5 f 5 also. The overall rating of the MS3 250 was higher than any of the other scooters I had shopped for for a month. I would rate the MS3 250 a 5 of 5 overall. The scooter impressed me and I am a hard critic.
If your looking for a good scoot this is definitely one to consider, with fuel injection, liquid cooling, disc brakes all around, for the list price it is really a good machine for the money. I would not be comfortable going with anything less than this machine's 25 HP for the highway. It has just enough passing power for my needs and can hold its own at any posted speed limit i have encountered. It is simple and reliable so far and very functional, making the commute fun. Sometimes its the best thing to end a day at work
Yamaha Morphous Owner Comments:
Good Points
Jet pack styling, buttery smooth transmission, great ride quality secondary to long wheel base, comfortable riding position, fully automatic, cool digital graphics on instrument panel, does most things well, great visibility from the rear for safety due to broad LCD taillight display.
Bad Points
Black fiberglass body panels show every scratch, large turning radius secondary to long wheelbase, one body panel has a gap between it and the others. Not for the interstate.
General Comments
The Yamaha Morphous 250 is perfect for its mission which is urban commuting. My girlfriend, not a motorcycle person, took one look at it and fell in love with it. The engine and transmission are smooth as silk, and although there is only 250cc below you the scooter will leave most cars behind at stoplights. A small rear trunk for storage, larger underseat storage area for a full helmet, and the chrome railing around the rear seat is perfect for attaching my $7 elastic cargo net from Walmart so I can haul 8 sacks of groceries plus a 12 pack of soda on demand. I added a headlight modulator from Kisan technologies which makes me feel a lot more visible and therefore safer. But enough of the mundane stuff. It's an absolute blast to ride and in 1800 miles I've never regretted purchasing it. It'll top out at just under 80mph but it's not designed for freeway cruising. Just under 60 mpg, too.

I don't like the style, How many more ways can I say it? You seem obsessed with wanting me to like your scoot. I don't like it and that's not going to change, Time to let it go my friend. And, " the Morphous pulls away smoothly. Acceleration is good enough to keep you ahead of most everyday urban traffic. On a brief highway sortie, I saw an indicated 75 mph and the Morphous wasn't done yet. But I was, as I was running out of open road. And this from steve at thescooterscoop.com " but acceleration felt more responsive on the Morph and at higher speeds it's more aggressive. " Fat, 13-inch radial tires provide outstanding traction and highway-speed handling." An here is one from Jack Select, " The long wheelbase and low CG guarantees flying sparks off the under carriage and the 25 inch seat height allows your feet to work as very effective outriggers. If the road has more tight curves than straight-aways, you'll likely be the one in front of the pack. Highway cruising is at a comfortable 70 mph. " Tell me when you've seen enough.

keep em comin' ,keep em comin'!!!! love my morph!! ...is this true??---->"Black fiberglass body panels show every scratch" Uh Yea but I don't know if he was a professional like Morph but he was a owner! ;D LOL I'm also impressed by Yamaha's review! Ever heard of any company giving their own product a bad review?? Now since we've got to bring in the professionals instead of just good old everyday owners who I would think have a good opinion of what they ride here is another professional one for ya! Review of the Yamaha Morphous UPDATE February,2009 Yamaha is NOT continuing to offer the Morphous in the USA for 2009. You may be able to find a dealer with a 2008 Morphous in stock, but you will likely have to look to the "previously owned" marketplace to get one Such a wonderful scooter already extinct! Oh well just gives ya another reason to upgrade to a Hyosung! JRR

Honda stopped importing the Helix in 1988 due to slow sales. It took a while to catch on. Once it caught on they brought it back and continued to sell them until last year. It is possible that the Morphous could be in demand once people understand it and Yamaha could resume importing it. Time will tell.
