My Eagle Sporty 50 has a speedometer that only goes to about 38mph. My scooter regularly will peg the speedometer, so I wanted a better idea of how fast I was going. So I bought this Schwinn model from Walmart ($10). LINK. Walmart had a similar wireless model I tried first.....didn't work. The sender was too far from the receiver. This wired model required me to splice in a 12" extension to mount the sensor. I also had to make a bracket to hold the sensor, another bracket to hold the magnet, and a third bracket to hold the new speedometer to the top of the brake fluid cap. It was well worth the effort.....I'm now trying to figure out a way to calibrate it with a little more accuracy than what I have now. It'll probably take somebody with a GPS. Anyway....good price, works nice

Yeah...I couldn't find a link to Walmart. But it's there in the bicycle dept for $10. The wireless model for $20 had a "Bell" label, but stopped working when the sensor was more than 18" or so from the receiver.

I see. My scooter came with KM large and Mi small. In addition to that, too optimistic. I think I need this one. Thanks for the tip.

I'm using the Sigma BC906 which is popular among the scoot crowd. It goes for around $20 at Amazon or eBay. Very accurate and can be recalibrated for different tires or wheel sizes. I have 10" wheels. Any of the Sigma computers will do the job. The BC506 might be a little cheaper. Mounted to the master cylinder. This shows the magnet mounting and the pickup unit which is mounted on the speedometer cable. Do a search under 'bicycle speedometer' to see other installs. 66

There countless ways to do this, but here's how I did it. The sensor is mounted to a "Z" bracket which bolts tight between the front fender mounts and the strut on the brake side. The "Z" allows some in/out adjustment to get the clearance to the magnet correct. The magnet is held to the aluminum bracket with one little nut, and the bracket attaches to the rim with 3M 2-sided tape. The wire is attached to the hydraulic brake line, and follows it up to the front brake assy. I carved out a little block of wood allowing the speedo head to be at the the right viewing angle. This is attached to the brake fluid cap with 2-sided tape also. The corners of the wood block are cut back allowing access to the cap screws. In all....perfect viewing angle. Works very well.

^^^^^Yeah....that's the normal battery saver mode. It turns on at the first turn of the wheel, and off after a few minutes when you stop. You can turn it on with a button push.
