January thaw? I'd love to see it. Currently 10 degrees with the wind - 8 below. We're supposed to get a foot of snow out of this system. Another blower day!

Our roads are pretty clear (just cold here with tomorrow looking to be around a balmy 20 or so). It's just my subdivision has hard-pack snow w/ice glaze I cannot get past on the scoot. If temps climb enough, I might get a shot by next weekend or so.

A little warmer today, less wind. We got about a foot over the weekend. I've used a full scooter tank of gas in the blower in the past 3 weeks and didn't have ANY fun. The warmest yesterday was 7 degrees with a wind chill at -17.

I bought the Battery Tender Jr at my local cycle shop last fall, and have been very happy w/it. Switches from charge to maint mode with no action on my part after hooking it up.
Took the MS3-250 out for a little run today, as the temps were in the 30's and the roads were perfect. Brisk doing 60mph? YES! But I sure did enjoy being on 2 wheels again. Just 37 miles around the block, but glad for the chance in January!

I slipped today. There are some scratches on the left side of my scooter. little scratch on my knee too. The compound of my scooter is not as soft as my bike. I won't lean as much as I do on my bike. Lesson learned.
I'm thinking of changing its color to pearl white.

Thanks harry and CC. It was a slow turn. It might have been dew or something since it was like 11 PM and was very foggy. I did not mention but after the bad luck, I went to a casino near by riding the scooter and won $450 from a slot machine. So it even out. I don't believe in God but would there be a superior being trying to balance good lucks and bad lucks? LOL

I've always heard things come in three's so I hope everything is in balance for you!
The streets are bare and I'm tempted but there's an awful lot of anti-skid on them and that makes for really hazardous riding. I guess I'll wait for awhile yet. On the positive side, over 2 feet of snow have melted! I can see grass in the yard. I could swear I saw a flock of robins flying overhead. Things are looking up!

Still have at least a foot of snow on the ground here yet. Just had freezing rain last night and this morning so everything is a sheet of ice here now. Supposed to have rain Saturday though so may be getting rid of some of this crap. I just keep thinking every day is getting one day closer to better weather.

The daylight seems to be getting (marginally) longer daily, thus riding weather is coming! C'mon spring!

My first chance to ride this month, today! Just a trip to the store followed by a 20 mile run on the back roads...should hold me for a while. Even with the heated grips, my fingertips get pretty cold in low 30's riding at 50-60mph. Maybe I can find some warmer gloves (right now using insulated leather gloves I found at a bike shop).

Hak - at least you got out. I heard on the news that we've had 9 feet since the end of November and close to 6 feet in Feb. I had a guy come in with a backhoe to clear out the ends of the driveway because it was higher than I can blow it.

"at least you got out." Believe me, I'm not complaining! Another 6-10" of snow forcast for tonight through tomorrow shuts down any further hopes for scootin' in the near-future. Guess this is why we live in the frozen north-country, huh?

I had trouble starting my MS3-250 this morning. we had a snow over the weekend and my scooter had been sitting in the parking lot for one week. My speculation is that this is due to the alarm system I installed on it and due to the small size battery. Two remedies I can think of are installing bigger battery and installing a switch to turn off the headlight while starting the engine. I have a spare battery(looks like 7A) that I took off from my CBR1000RR but it seems smaller than what's in my MS3-250.

The battery that comes with the MS3 is an 8 amp battery. I went to walmart and got their everstart es12-bs battery, 10 amps. It is about an inch taller but it will fit. It seems like just about everybody ends up having problems with the batteries that come with these scooters eventually. I don't have an alarm system so don't really know how much of an effect that would have on the battery.

Harry talked about this in an earlier post. He recommended as many amps as you can fit in. With the EFI and the lights on, it places a big drain on a battery. The alarm is placing an additional drain. A 7 amp is too small.
Banana - do you have a battery tender on your scoot? If not, spend the $30 and get one. Keep the scoot plugged in when you're not using it - saves on battery $$$$$$$.

Yes, I have a battery tender. I live in a apartment and sometimes it's hard to use it. To charge it, I need to partially block a walkway. I'll see if it gets any better as the weather gets warm. If not, no choice but to replace it with bigger one.

Any improvement in battery-condition these days?
