Hey, I have been busy building another scoot and here she is. There are a few more engine and cosmetic mods since these photos but Im lazy today and the weather is no good here at the moment. I know pics are are more informative than text so enjoy. This scooter began as a frame from scooter depot in Ca. and the build began............. The bars are a solid rod of T6 aircraft aluminum with a new Vapor from trailtech Decided to do some custom lighting and a rear shock made by BMF in japan without external spring so I could mount a fatter Pirelli GTS 23 on the new red five stars. The stock shock on a chinese scooter is usually 13.5 in'. The new shock from BOWLS in Ca. is only 10 in'. MAJOR DROP in ride height. the exhaust is stainless header with a stainless half coupling that is threaded to allow a quick and painless replacement of the briggs and stratton go cart muffler. (these baffles only last about 6 months). not a good idea to weld on directly to pipe. also decided on rear discs as well to stop the bike easier. I did a fancy cvt cover but the camera was not close enough. I carved the variator area into an arrow that points toward the pavement. The clutch and vari are both prodigy now and nicer to look at as well as better performance. The seat is a clear beveled piece of LEXAN that is actually very comfortable to sit in with the footpegs and lower ride height. The gad tank is aluminum and designed to fit into the sway brace. the scooter is very stiff and is no longer like cornering on the back of a fish!!! Switches moved off bars and vent hose for tank tucked away. I did some mods to plastics for fitment. SPECIAL THANKS to Paul and the the guys at TAYLOR COLOR COLISION for paint and Larry at APEX pwdercoating. ALSO thanks to Mike at SMITH METAL FAB, and all my homies here who lent a hand.

Looks very nice!
What mods did you do to the engine? How's the performance?

semper fi cuz! been a while. hows the baby blue fly?
engine mods are moderate...
A9 cam ks power valve spring mrp no rev cdi (cooling fins)blue gigantic engine coil for cn 250...40000volts custom exhaust prodigy variator(vented) prodigy clutch and bell(just on yesterday...not in pic) polini kevlar belt($$) 180 carb(float bowl leveled, rejet) ported aluminum intake ngk iridium
....still roller tuning. top speed 72mph at 9800rpm. engine temp really climbs at this note but cannot run any richer and achieve this speed without a days worth of inake runner tuning. cutting one inch off runner between filter and carb means complete change in fuel vacuum velocity and rejetting carb one or the other. Im satisfied for now but believe some roller tuning will hell dial in the fresh prodigy cvt.
Thanks for the reply.

the trickiest thhing about this buuild was the tiny shock dropped the motor angle so dramatically that the dipstick showed no oil at 8.5 tenths of a court. ( 10w30 mobil 1 full synthetic for my sweetie)

Wow, you really know what you're doing to radically change that scoot. It is apparent you are much more able than I am, but I do warn you about running this thing at 9800rpm. That is extreme RPMs for these engines by every account i've read. How much did KS Power charge you for those springs? Do you think the scoot would be structurally sound without the crossbar that is holding up your gas tank? Of course you'd have to find a new spot for the gas tank. Looks like a CV carb, what size is it? 30mm, 32mm? Can you take some closer photos of your CVT cover? It looks like you made some very precise cuts, how'd you get such nice rounded edges around your clutch cut-out? Where's the video of this thing running and taking off??

yes the high rpm run is just for testing....not commute. I did the cvt with a dremmel. The aluminum cleans up very nice with some sandpaper. just a lil' patience. The valve springs are 50 bucks but worth it. The cam + high rpm + stock springs = broken spring. Have a broken intake spring as a souvenier. a reminder. The carb. is stock because the bore is stock. The larger carb would kill the cam on a stock bore I believe. The cam creates less vacuum at higher rpm. although the larger carb may help keep the fuel atomized. Im relying on advice in this case not actual experience. You can over-carb a cam though. So far I get what seems to be the right fuel air mixture and cylinder pressure per engine temp. I am considering this freebie tuning trick though: somender-singh.com/content/view/7/31/these photos are proof that the combustion motor can allways be improved upon.... this one is just cost effective. I will post you some close-ups of the cvt and front end of scoot as soon as this freaking rain dies down a bit. The scooter has a new center of gravity as it doesnt wheelie as easily as before. more of a drag scoot. The gecko would flip over end with a sqeeze. I would be tuning the rollers today it wasnt for el nino. I will try to get a video. I can send one to your camer phone if you pm me your #. Thanks again

Looks great, as did the gecko. This one has a cruiser look to it. Did you consider changing the final drive gears to bring down the RPMs at top speed?

That looks great, shook...gives me some ideas about what to do with my Jonway. Is the one shock on the rear enough to handle torque?

That looks great, shook...gives me some ideas about what to do with my Jonway. Is the one shock on the rear enough to handle torque? hey jim.... the rear shock is more then enough as you cannot bottom it out. The only drawback of the shock is wheelies are not happening because of the limited travel. shock is comfortable as well. It is designed as a monoshock set up for a honda ruckus, I purchased the shock because it allows for a wider tire. no external spring I am at the moment struggling to get the bike tuned in as well as it used to be. I may be having some issues with the carb mounted that way because the port is gapped between intake because of custom runner. I may have to fab a motor mt. up to raise the motor up because the shock dropped the bike 3". thamks for comments

that came out very cool, in my color even, drop the front imo keep it up drop front end too!!! your killin me.... one good speedbump now and the engine will kiss the pavement. Got any motor mt. ideas??? If I could get the motor to more of a stock angle I would consider droppin the front one inch-- but the forks have a fixed height on a 150cc (grooved at tree). 50cc forks slide right up through the tree

Hey where ya been Numbski? thought ya had bought the farm!! LOL
Still got my number? Give me a call and I'll give ya an ear fulll! LOL JRR

LOL Still got my number? Give me a call and I'll give ya an ear fulll! LOL JRR Hey jrryan... the sweet spot for roller tuning is to have the belt at the top of the vari and at the base of the clutch between 6900/8600 rpm depending on your torque (sweet) spot.I am using a red contra spring with taller variator (prodigy) and a prodigy clutch. I wll need 18-19 gram rollers to achieve this as the red spring is harder to compress. My motor pulls the best around 7200 rpm with a9 cam. i am currently running 3 13g and 3 17g rollers. I am out of power band because the bike will not reach maximum gear as weights are too light to sqeeze the belt into the red spring good. I love the red spring!!! This cvt will kick ass with a few mor grams and yes the take off is retained because the stiffer springs in prodigy clutch keep the bike from shifting into top gear too fast so there is no bog with heavier rollers. its an art. and a fine balance. and fun as leaving cagers at the light with their jaws in their lap!!!

someone was talkin about hitting a bump and smashin your motor into the ground. what about fabricating some sort of belly pan or engine guard. another thing that i did to my scoot was some custom painting like the cvt, headlamp cage, fan cover, and lots of other some and it looks sharp. why i mentioned that i may look good painting your fan cover red. just a suggestion

thanks jack... vert kind of you to compliment the bike and the suggestions are cool. I did actually fab up a skid plate out of 1/8 aluminum but as it turns out I dont need it, although that was a major concern. I still dont tailgate so I can navi the potholes. I am fixing to put new stroker motor on this scoot so right now the fan can be plain jane as I just intended to lightly mod this motor for daily commuting. The stoker will be fun. 4mm stroke with 63bore. Installing the stroker crank was a pain as I had to freeze the crank and heat the cases to get the fit. and each time I did the and bolted it up The crank would not spin freely. I had to mark the inside of the cases with a sharpie and reinstall the crank 11 times until I could dremel off all the little areas where the crank was removing the sharpie ink. It now spins freely and I dont believe the is a real "bolt-on" power maker out there to sigificantly improve performance unless you go with a cam.
Have fun with your scoot!!! is yours a shortcase? I love the shortcase gy6 as the wheelies are effortless!!!

Sweet lookin scooter. I took a look at the rear fender, fan cover. And you can get them in chrome at a website called www.scooterchromeparts.com They also have a Chrome Racing Scoop that will help your engine for better cooling. They have a Racing Oil Cooler for $109. They have pretty neat stuff. Check them out, I'm sure you would apreciate there chrome body parts. Worth sharing the website with other scooter riders.

I'm with medman - re-gear that thing! I was checkin the message JustChillin posted about the chrome Body Parts website called www.scooterchromeparts.com, gotta tell ya guy, this website is sick (COOL) lookin. I mean they have all the chrome parts you need for your Longbo 150 Advenbture. As a matter a fact, after checkin out the entire website. I found that they have all ( I mean ALL) the body parts for your scooter in CHROME for your Longbo Adventure scooterchromeparts.com/#/scooter-gallery-5/4536623523. Oh by the way, I recommend signing up as a VIP Member (it's FREE), cause they have some specific pages you won't see if your just a regular user. Theres a page called GREAT DEALS for VIP Memebers. And theres a Manuals and Diagrams page you can get infomation about many scooter models. It's worth it !!! This website is super cool, it's ashame I did see it before. But it's never too late to start custom building your scooter. For those of your who still have warm weather you can start customizing today. And for those of you who have put away your scooters for the winter. It's still a great time to custom build your scooter for next summer. Thanks JustChillin for opening up my eyes to this wonderful scooter website www.scooterchromeparts.com. Pierrat
