So i've been searching around trying to find details on how to adjust the needle in my carb as it appears, I "may" be running a bit rich hence me wanting to lean it out about. Searching around I found these two pages; halley.deviantart.com/art/GY6-50cc-Carburetor-91462914and this one www.scootusa.com/adjust_carb.htmNow my question is, on the second page it shows a needle with some grooves in it along with a circlip. HOWEVER, my needle is more like the one on the first page with a big "head" and like 2 grooves under it, no circlip there though. How would I go about to adjust my needle if there is no circlip and not as many grooves (if they are even grooves at all)??

If it is running rich and you are at wide open throttle you need to adjust the main jet not the needle. The needle works between 1/4 to 3/4 throttle. Most of the time the needle is to lean that is why you cannot adjust it leaner. Try to find a older carburetor and get the adjustable needle out of that. Just a throught, do you have a friend that has a adjustable needle you can barrow to see if that is your problem.

The carb itself looks different where the diaphragm sits (round vs round with a flat edge) so I dont think swapping out the needle alone will work.
Is there any other way to adjust this? Whats this I read about a tab you can bend to adjust the mixture? Anyone have a pictorial guide? I read alot of articles but theres nothing that shows it clearly (sorry Im a picture person)
Thanks

The needles will fit from one to the other. I have done this many times. Of course this does not mean there is something different on the market. I would like to see if you could try it and then you will know for sure.

Thanks for the information, does that mean I just put the needle with the circlip on top of the plastic piece with the "3 legs" ?

No, the needle goes under the plasatic piece. If it was on top there would not have any thing to hold the needle in place.

Does your plastic piece have a hole in the middle?

Yes it does, mine looks exactly like the one in the first link posted. Mine doesn't. I haven't read too much about those needles. I've never had one like that. Maybe the others will work. Have you tried a hardware store, to find a circlip? You may try and experiment with one if you can find one, that is--if those really are grooves. Not sure if I can help..

You might be surprised what you can find at Lowes in the hardware section!
