Surbanking:
I hauled my scooter to BMS 2 years ago due to warrantee and dealer problems. The dealer in Tucson was horrible to work with. While there, they modified the air intake system with a new box and filter, They changed the carb location. Since then getting to the spark plug is a piece of cake and the engine runs real good as well. It was s short disney vacation for us as well. Recently did a brake job, Rotors, Calipers and pads - Fantastic Max

ok changed my cdi, spark plug and fuel filters. Still would not start. I was ready to kick the thing when I noticed my spark plug cable had pulled out of the ignition coil. I put it back in and bang it fired up. Got a new one coming via UPS. trailheadmike thanks for the manuel it has helped. Now my next thing is to put the original air filter back on. The guy I bought the bike from took it off and I can not figure out all the hoses. The manual does not explain that part. If anyone has a picture of the hose arrangment please send. Thanks.

Hello! This is Paulklee150, Can anyone help me with this issue? I just received my new XY260T-4 fresh off the truck yesterday July 21st 2011. I had it delivered to my mechanic who did the initial PDI..., (so he claimed). He found that the scooter is not idling properly! The problem is that the scooter runs idle @ approximately 1500 rpm's. But when the engine is rev'd, and the throttle released ..., it begins to run high near 3000 rpm's at times before dropping back down to about 1000 rpm's..., and then stalls. This happened a few times and have come to the conclusion that the mechanic doesn't know what he is doing for $65.00/hr. I'm in to him 6hrs. Can anyone help?

Concerning the xy260t-4. Does anyone know the best mp3 player to install? Pictures of installed systems would be great and how sound is above 40 mph. Thanks

Hey, Paul, have your mechanic check for these:
Air leaks in hoses or manifold Float bowl level Electric choke Stuck needle or faulty diaphragm in carb Idle mixture Throttle cable clogged jets
It was probably fine until he started messing with it, but it doesn't sound like he knows enough to damage it, so have him get it running and try to get out of there and find a scooter mechanic.
I think he should get paid for two hours, which is what a PDI should take a real mechanic.
He don't like it, maybe we send a cleaning crew over and help him straighten out his shop a little. A shop could get real messy sometimes, maybe he'll stop messing up scooters, say if a couple of the boys come over, help him out, clean his windows, clean his furniture, clean his car, maybe he don't try to take advantage of somebody with all his stuff cleaned up, capische?

Kevin I would love the manuel for this bike. BMS has one for $35.00 but not sure if I want to spend money on something I have heard is useless. I'm not sure if the rumors are true. Would like advice from our BMS guys out there. I have gotton a lot of parts from them and never been disappointed. Also looking for info on the hose setup to the filter and if anyone has advice onn a mp3 player installation. My e-mail address is suburbanking2@aol.com. Thanks Tim.

Tim - check your email. I have it too and I sent it to you, along with the Yamaha Majesty 250 manual which is the best I've found for this engine.

Hello all! I'm new to the forum and new to "scooters". I'm a classic Harley guy but now, I live in the Tampa area and I immediately decided a scooter is the way to go. I just bought a 2007 XY260T-4 with 3,200 miles. I've read all the posts and have taken note to the PDI items of concern. The bike seems to run pretty good at this point but I did immediately notice the low quality of materials and the "made for mass production on the cheap" overall quality. I could most definitely use the manuals you were so generous to scan, trailheadmike! My e-mail is mmsobyak (AT) yahoo DOT com. I do have one question which needs immediate attention: Sitting on the bike, on the right side of the motor lower case is a black, screw in plug. Is this the engine oil fill? My eyes aren't what they used to be so it was difficult to read the data plates. Is the oil 15/40? Was there ever a rear trunk box made for this? If so, any leads on one or one that is compatible? I'm glad I found this forum! Thanks - Mark

Yeah already did that, they got me changing from one department to the other and thats when they came to the conclusion that they do not come with Owner's Manual and I was told to look around for videos. i would have made sure the manual was included before i accepted the shipment. anyway search for yamaha 257cc service manual. these manuals will be for yamaha bikes and the frame, electrical, EVERYTHING except the engine/ CVT/ final drive will be useless to you. there might be a manual out there for your bike, i've never found one for mine.

I gotta jump in here.
Last fall I bought an XY300T-4...same bike with a different engine, FI.
With 200 miles on it, no problems. Started right up after a winter shutdown...only prep was, Sta-Bil in the tank and removal of the battery.
The XY260 is basically the same bike. My take: The design is sound; it's just that the details weren't done well by the factory. And no PDI by a mail-order deliverer.
I bought mine from a dealer who knew what Chinese products are. He did extensive PDI and it showed.
