I have an 08' Roketa MC-250B with 2600 miles. It came with a factory installed alarm system and remote start. I started it with the remote a few weeks ago to show friends how it works (I never use the remote start, except to show others how it works). After starting it, I turned on the key and rode it home. When I tried to turn it off, the key and ignition are now dead. All the key does is to lock the steering column when parked. The scooter does start and shut-off with the remote ONLY. I ordered a new ignition and installed it, but there is no difference. My scooter is in pieces in my garage as I try to check the wiring, but I am at a loss for ideas. What can I do to this POS? HELP!! I had to replace the fuel pump at 500 miles, and I also have problems with a very inconsistent idle, 1100rpm one minute, 2000rpm the next, and it stalls all the time when I come to a stop (valve adjustment? new carb?). Also, how can the headlights be adjusted? Mine are way too low on low beam (10 ft. in front of the scooter). I have taken the front end off three times and twisted the adjustment screws, but they seem to make no difference. I am not having much fun with my scoot.

yeah that piece of crap alarm/remote is just that crap. Now if one uses the remote to start their engine, then they need to turn off the engine with the remote, and then restart it using the key and starter button. if you ride around without doing that the remote winds up in a weird state that you may or may not be able to clear. We have instructions here in the forum somepalce on how the FOB works with the remote/alarm unit, you might be able to get it back from being disabled. I unplugged mine as it is too easy to accidentally have the remote fob disable the engine on myself. Oh yeah, it remembers even if you disconnect the battery overnight and hook it back up the next day. So that won't work either.
Well basically the headlights are non-adjustable, I don't know anyone that had any luck getting any of them to adjust higher. But since the low beam wattage and the high beam wattage are the same, you can use high beam all you want, it won't cause the opposite traveling motorists any more trouble seeing anything. Your headlights work the same as the ones on my scooter. You just learn to live with it. Now a couple of enterprising folks did do some changes, like replace the screws and or fabricate some metal parts as needed to allow them to adjust theirs better. Their threads about it are here on the forum someplace.

Is there not a fuse on the alarm system for the 54B's like other alarm systems? I just pulled the fuse on the alarm on my rr150.
Stalling when ccming to a stop is the valve gap need adjustment.

I had already tried unplugging the battery overnight, and you are correct - no difference. I took all the front end bodywork off the scoot hoping to find a fuse or a loose wire or something... but no luck. I unplugged the remote/alarm box, but that makes my scoot completely dead. When I plugged it back in it does start and shut off ONLY with the remote.
Where can I find the described instructions on how to (hopefully) reset my remote start/alarm so it no longer disables my ignition?

Did you check the fuse right by the battery? I bet that all it was. just replaced this fuse and I almost certain it will fix the problem. I did the same thing, I started my m54-254b with the remote and turned off with the kill switch, atter that it would ONLY start with the remove until I replaced the burned out fuse right next to the battery then I start it with the key again. good luck

The fuses are worth checking, there are three fuses that Iknow of, one on the battery a 15 amp model. One on the starter solenoid a PITA toget to as well, it is a 20 amp fuse. There is third fuse right next to the remote/alarm unit. Some scooters do have a old style alarm remote and unplugging it, doesn't work without a jumper across two of the wires. www.oregonvintage.com has a article on the TANK scooters showing how to setup the bypass jumper. The newer scooters usually only need to have the fuse disconnected, unless the alarm remote has been set to disable the engine, then you really have to unplug it.

YES!! Thank you scooternew. I had looked for a fuse and had no luck. After reading your post, I double checked and found that some kind soul at the factory had shoved my fuse cord through one of the holes around the battery compartment, and then tied a knot in it! When I tried to pull on it, nothing came free so I gave up. Your post made me double check it, and I was able to free it and untie the knot. The fuse was blown, and a new one cured my ignition woes. A dawg bone to you, thanks! Now to adjust my valves, figure out my speedometer issue, find out why my rear wheel comes loose. . . much to do!

You are welcome bigdaddy09, I am glad to be able to pass on something I had learned from the ScooterDawg when I had the ignition problem. Hope everything else work out for you.
