if it gets down to it you could always find a big wheel, and use its brakes lol

Well just got back from my west coast vacation and some new parts were in the mailbox The mechanical brake/cable setup arrived. It's a take off from a 2008 rocketa and I just finished installing it. Worked out perfect! The other cable I bought from PFS must have been for a short style CVT, because the rocketa cable is about 6" longer and bolted right in without any mods. So I know have rear brakes and the handles are chrome and match. I need to wire up the brake switches and kill switch and the handle bars will be done! I think I am going to reinstall some plastics, I love it naked but I do like how it looks with the panels on it too, plus I have access to a large format printer so I can "wrap" the panels with a computer design if I want to go all out!

hey joe....glad to hear you got your brake cable dealt with....brakes come in handy at times, you know, when you need to stop.
You being so good with graphics I am sure some gy6 rocket "plastic wrap" will look the part. I would like to see that even if im not a real plastic fan. I will let you know that we have sold and installed some of your exhaust pipe creations for some 50cc scooters. The pipes will not work untill they get a uni pod so yes they do improve exhaust flow. Customers are happy!!! Sound like little harleys scootin' round.
Oh... watch out for the sovereign scoot critic "scootgod" who politely decided my scooter was not to his majesty's liking. Forgive me scootgod. I failed you.
Anyway rocket.....glad you had fun out west. I had to practice not calling you while you and the wife were having some quality time....glad your back

Hey! GY6Rocket! How's that exhaust holding up? I'm in a semi-serious state of making one right now. I'm sourcing mandrel bends and stuff, and hoping to find that muffler (I think you posted where you got it, right? Just on dial up now and too much time to look for it) and build an almost clone exhaust. Any advice? I'll be starting a thread in a few in the 125 section, just need to do some research before I go buying anything. ;D

^ That is the exact muffler I bought
So far I am pleased with the sound, performance, weight and price of this unit. I would say it performs as good as my $200 KM Racing exhaust, but sounds even better.
It has a baffle inside that can be drilled to further tune if necessary.

I already fabbed up one of your exhausts Gy6, If you want the paint to stick you need to brush off the brass coating, I got mine to peel off after 2 med rides, only on the top side though, wierd, but it works great and cost me 24 bucks all said and done. Thanks again JR

It's been very nice here and I've got some *semi-legal* riding done. Right now I only have back brakes and my headlight housing and license plate are still gone. Just been driving it away from main roads, no traffic or anything. I'm still breaking in the new tires so just going easy on it, letting the Amsoil circulate Man it feels great to get out!!! My front brake master cylinder died at my hands this morning torquing in the cap bolt too hard. I'm ordering a new one. Probably a good idea anyway, maybe I can find a high performance one. I see what you mean about the brass coating after a few runs. I'm going to pull it, brush it, and give it a black BBQ paint job. Header wrap would look cool too . . .. So yeah I need to figure out how to get some of my Automotive PC technology on board the Strada Can you say riding video's with GPS overlay Also, to anyone that thinks this is just a "show scoot" you are dead wrong, I put 2300 miles on this last chassis/engine year before the tear down and am looking to ride the same or more this year.

I need a few more weeks to work on mine before she's ready for a cruze! Ordered the new front master cylinder from PFS, should be here in a couple days. Also started painting my panels metallic black, they look AWESOME!!! Man I really like the color it goes great on the bike and gives it a pro finish. Going to clear coat them too. I trimmed off all random tabs and stuff to make them look CLEAN! So I've been trying to get in back in tune, and the shorty exhaust and long intake runner were not playing nice at WOT. Weird because the KM racing worked well with the long runner, but it was a long exhaust too.. Anyway I talked to shook about it and came to the conclusion the fuel was de-atomizing in the runner causing surging. It would run perfect up to 3/4 throttle, then would start surging a little bit. Anyway I messed with it for a bit and decided I'm probably going to fabricate a custom intake runner, 24mm diameter and short, placing the carb forward but with a consistent shorter runner. What I did earlier today though, was remove the spacer in the runner. Mounted the carb up directly to the intake, which due to how I have it forward mounted put the carb at a near 45* angle. Looking at the carb and visioning how the fuel would flow it seemed like it would be ok. SO I gave it a go and BAM!! The surging is gone and it runs strong at WOT, sounds insane too, pretty loud. I also drilled out the center baffle 1/4" and that helped too, may up it to 1/2" even though it gets louder with each step SO yeah anyway I though I would grab a pic of my **semi downdraft carb** and let you guys know it actually works really good! Lastly, was talking too shook more on the phone, he called me hysterical that I replace the right side swing arm. SO far it has been running fine and has not loosened one bit from my 3 or so hours of riding. I pulled out that swing arm and may put it back; after some heavy mods of course... As always more too come, painting the exhaust with BBQ paint now.

Deductive logic should tell you it's a fuel tank. The fuel shut off valve, fuel line, fuel filter, and fuel filler cap sort of give it away

Are you afraid the wheel is just going to come off? Well I check it before every ride, so far it has 0 lateral play in it. Easy to do a burn out now too People forget that all the original Honda designs were setup the exact same way, single sided swing arm, mono shock. The mounting tabs were for the exhaust pipe. The steel swing arm part is a true Chinese creation. Shook already scolded me too about this too. . . I know a couple other people running gy6 swaps and they run the same way, no problems. Since you guys keep scolding me about it I'm going to put it back on, I'm going to the shop today to modify / lighten it a bit. Going to remove the big muffler mounts and perhaps cut some inner pieces out to simulate a 'ladderbar' design. And for the record, I love the twisties, been scraping my sidestand, need to figure out how to make it retract a bit more.

My gy6 is single sided swingarm. I like it because of the "Ducati" effect. Meaning I pretend I'm riding a Ducati and people look at me funny. Maybe if the scooter made the Ducati sound I wouldn't have to.
Single sided swingarms are cool. Look at the Confederate Wraith.

Yeah i wish i could cut the side stand off. But then i wouldn't have a kickstand, It scrapes like no other

Maybe you can fab one up similar to this one except smaller, for single swingarms and backpack-able.

I just chopped my centerstand, still have the sidestand. I do want to make something like that ^ for service and to stabilize the bike while working on it. Here's some more pix from what I did over the weekend. Did a base coat of gloss black on all the panels, came out pretty wicked. Going to wet sand them down a bit with 2000 grit then apply a metallic black, followed by a clear coat. Tackled the infamous right side swing arm. It's about half the weight it was before the grinder and drill came out to play. Need to do some more finishing but for now just hit it with some etch primer because half of it was raw metal. Exhaust, finished painted and reinstalled. The MotoGino gasket is holding up excellent.

What if you did a high mount 2 piece telescoping kick type stand? kind of like how crutches are adjusted and mount it to where your engine cradle bolts to the frame, make it out of aluminum tube to keep the weight down...... just an idea

That would be an awesome idea!
I'm probably just going to shave mine down some so that it will retract higher up into the bike. Keep 'er simple!
