I see the rims in the back shook, on the paint cans. Just wait for the clear coat, the green is gonna jump of our screens. I can hardly wait for the rebuild with the new mounts. Thanks again for sharing your work with us gy6rocket.

I'm getting curious also, I know I will NOT be reinstalling many, many useless parts. I would estimate the bike itself will be about 50 lbs lighter than stock form when its RTR. The rims are also being painted the intense green. After they are dried new Japan made valve stems are being installed and brand spanking new Pirelli SL 26 rubber is getting wrapped around them. Just ordered the SL 26's a few minutes ago

rocket....if you dont mind a quick preview on the dash....will you re-position the kill switch/turn signals with the new bars. Im stripping my scoot this week to grind off useless excess metal before powder-coating. I was thinking of mounting switches near where my glove box used to be. You can remove 2 screws and the switches come right out of the factory housings. I think those factory switch casings are gaudy...ugly. Plus why put the billet aluminum accelerator post on the bars and hide it with those switch cases( whatever theyre called) I see the rims...curious to see the whole bike...been waitin a few months. It better be good. Im counting on you.

Hey shook I dont know if you want all the switches on the bars but what I did was buy the switch assembly from a ruckus off ebay and I am rewiring it to fit my china wire. that way all the switches are easy and still maintain everything kill start turn horn all right there mounted on some renthal handle bars. now just need time to mount it up and install my vapor unit oh also need a neck for mounting the handle bars but think I am gont to use a redneck bmx stem. just an idea for you

thanks for the suggestion fastasssr20....could you start a thread w/ pix. I also bought a vapor. Very quality stuff!! Had to order an extension wire for heat sensor. Hey gy6 rocket...I "stripped to the frame" today (02/13/09). Everything was a success all the way down to the wiring harness. Mr cutoff wheel got some hours in!!! I am powder coting tommorow. I have to get a quik weld done in the morning and because of the oven temp for powder coating I have to have the motor mount & shock mount bushings pressed out (with a press!). Kindof a headache. Look for some pix soon..."illusion green and malossi orange" colors. Im so jazzed to see how it all turns out. Looks like I wont need to call you since everything went pretty smooth but thanks for your offer to help. Scooters are a way of life

Awesome shook! Glad to hear you got everything done with the quickness! If we didn't have a 6 month winter here in Michigan I would probably be working as fast as I could to reassemble but since its 28ish and snowed a couple inches today I take my sweet time **SO the final coats of clear have been sprayed and the frame is sitting all weekend to let the paint dry good and hard. The final product looks awesome!! I'll actually be happy to start getting some hardware back into the frame! I purchased a kings ransom in new 8.8 automotive hardware to reassemble everything with. Also going to retap all the holes. The motive is having no stripped fasteners anywhere on the bike, rather silver high grade bolts holding everything together. Also the new Pirelli's SL 26's will be here Monday !! I will probably let the rims dry a couple more weeks before mounting the new Japan made valve stems and tires.

I am looking forward to see your bike put together! Have fun with the pirellis. I have the same tire on my scoot and the MT65/MT75's on my bike. they are great tires. you will have fun getting them mounted as the sidewalls are very stiff. they are so stiff that you can actually run these with no air in them and they wont run flat LOL.

Hey jack, nice to see ya! I'm having a local guy named "motorcycle mike" do my tires and stems. He has all the tools and knowledge to do it fast and pro and only charges me $10. He is the guy who did the dismount of the kenda tires and original stems. I'm really looking forward to having some real tires to ride on!! SO here is the final frame pic before I start filling her back up with fasteners, and the wheels before they get some shoes This color is going to POP! Cagers will see this bike comin! The clear coat is pretty thick as you can see in the reflections of the light. Also forgot to add I shaved down the steering stopper so I can turn the front wheel more for better turning radius. I'll probably start a new thread for the reassembly - aiming to have this road ready and street legal by the end of March. Picked up some grease to start putting back the steering bearings /shaft this week.

this is major tom to ground control: ROCKET you are taking off with that green! I have had a very sad few days lately... My english bulldog "Birdie" passed away two days ago and the tears wont seem to stop. I loved my dog more than any scooter. She was 80 lbs of pure joy and laughter. I have some pix of her with me when I was strippin' the scooter down for powder-coat...I will post them all on a thred that I am going to dedicate to her. Her companionship is painfully missed. I love ya bird...all dawgs go to heavan. My scooter actually came out very nice...It is "candy purple" with orange accents....I decided to let you have the green to yourself...take 'er easy rocket...talk at ya soon.

Man, really sorry to hear about your dawg shook. Losing a pet is hard, hang in there! Well the Strada rebuild has officially begun I bolted up the engine mount and test fit the engine, everything looks good with proper geometry, yay! I'm leaving the engine out for the time being to do a valve adjustment and clean it more. I got the steering shaft reinstalled, took the bearings apart and cleaned them really good, then put some fresh grease in there. It moves silky smooth now, no dirt grinding anymore when the shaft rotates. Removed the shocks for further inspection and/or possible replacement with after market stuff. Cleaned all the gray plastic parts in the laundry tub, they look new again! Looks like my next big project is going to be the wiring harness. It's a mess really and needs to be taken completely apart and redone. Many of the wires can be removed now too. All hardware going into the frame from this point is 8.8, no more of the stripped black china bolts. Here is a couple pix I snapped.

Thanks rocket...odie..I am recovering. Rocket the wiring harness (re-install) is a little tougher than removing. I have modified mine and finally have it back on. The new speedo set-up made it a little harry. I got rid of my sending unit, and re-positioned coil underneath the scoot. I also put the kill switch and headlight-horn switches in the glove box ( I dont have a glove box door because of brace ) and it is cool but slow going. I also opted to mount stator clip, choke clip, and starter relay clip inside of frame...pix coming soon.
Your scooter looks great...take your time. I spent 5 hours today looking for a master cylinder to accomodate the folding NCY brake lever. I am soooo FRUSTRATED I could snap! I did finally find one but my day is done now.
The "box like" areas of you frame where your motor mount is are great places to hide pin connectors. FYI
HEY, keep up the good work and I cant wait to see the new tires. Thanks for posting the pix and have a bone from BIRDIE (my dog).

Make sure to post up some more pix! Your bike is looking really good man, you know I'm a fan of total custom!! I've been working a bit more on mine, snowed 5 more inches here so what else is there to do? For now here is a teaser of the new tires These tires are unique in the way they mount (reversed tread front to back) SO i decided to mark the interior of the wheels with location and rotation information so my tire guy will get it right.

Got some more time to work on the scoot! I decided to customize the engine shroud some and give it a coat of wrinkle paint to match the rocker cover. Also wrinkle finish painted the metal bars that bolt to the frame and hold the floorboard. Not really necessary I suppose but they were raw metal so I decided, for longevity purposes, to coat 'em. I also remounted the ignition and the skid plate and picked up even more 6MM stainless hardware and cap screws. I converted about half of the engine to black allen head cap screws now, will be nice to ony need one small lightweight tool to remove the rocker cover, shroud, etc. So the next part was not really in the plans, however it is something I've wanted to do for awhile, and that is polish the GY6 up So finally today, with the shroud in the paint booth, I wire polished the entire thing! There is not a spec of dirt left anywhere on it and it gleams now! It did not really take that long to do for how much better it looks "post process" SO here is the engine yesterday while I was test fitting the wheel and figuring out what new spacer parts I'm going to need since I'm eliminating the steel swing arm part. Take a look at the aluminum case parts (dirty) Now here is the engine after a couple hours of TLC, as you can see it is now quite glossy and polished! Will fit right in with the rest if the mods YOu may also notice a new Gates Powerlink belt. I cleaned up and went through the variator while it was apart. Even polished things like the starter

Just bought this a few minutes ago for absorption, Loaded with sweet, sweet nitrogen + adjustable! That takes care of the rear, and since I just found out I'm getting a nice chuck of change back for taxes I'm pretty sure I have the wife convinced I need a pair of NCY's for the front

@owen, I have not received the shock yet so I'm not sure. After I get it, and inspect it I will let you know what I come up with.

I don't think you can ad air knowing its nitrogen filled thats why its adjustable so you can set it where you want?

DUDE!!!! That grren rim will be admiring its own reflection in the side of the shinny new case. I am impressed. A bone for you. This thread is fun to watch. Youre very meticulous and clever. The new shock is going to make a giant difference! You wont believe it. It looks killer...will contrast nice with the paint. I may be employing you after all forr the fabricated intake runner. does the ID of the runner match the performance intake hose?? I mean port-wise. DOES IT FFLLOOOWW....smooth? I have been around town today tryin' to come up with somethin' on my own but not hitting on much. May need your help.
