Thanks guys. As the winter rolls in i think i"m gona have to go there. And i will need lot's of advice. BTW i don't know if you guys ever check out the "...ride" thread but i put up a couple of videos. One you both would probably get a kick out of is my little stock Triton running against my buddies 750 through the Ozarks Hills.
Not trying to "thread jack" i know you are fans of these little "Rock Stars" and i"m just trying to do my part to grow the fan club. lol

Those are definitely some amazing videos. I love the lone ride one. Fall in the country is a great place to be. I wish I didn't have to drive 200 miles to get to the country though.

The scanner and i arent getting along well this morning so i just took a pic of my first port map(well second, first was practice). It needs much improvement but its a start . Im looking forward to mapping my stock and other Polini Contesa cylinder as well. These maps are a great tuning database and also help when picking the best cylinder for your needs.

Looks like a nice port map. Hopefully the ports stay roughly the same when you go to bore it out. On another note. Everytime I ride this thing, something goes wrong! My battery was completely dead from sitting for a month waiting for these kits to come. I had it on the charger earlier and I had to mail something so I took it off the charger and went to start it up. I hit the brakes, and noticed that the dash lights didnt come on (ever since I installed an LED tail light, the dash lights come on when I hit the brakes) I checked, and sure enough. I blew the LED brake light. The tail light still works, but the brake light is dead. I had totally forgotten that taking the battery off the charger doesn't automatically put the battery at 12V. it gradually drains back down to 12V. So when I went to hit the brakes, that battery was probably throwing about 15V at the brake light. That'll teach me It's a very easily designed light though. just a few boards with LED's stacked on top of each other. I'll try to unsolder it from the base and see if it's fixable. Otherwise, there's another $10 down the drain for a new one.

Well i have good news , and bad news . The good news is 1.My new leak tester tool works 2.I will be building a Minarelli from the crank up, or side , front, whatever. The bad news is 1.I discovered a VERY bad crank seal leak 2.I will be building a Minarelli from the crank to the head ;D. I went out and pulled the seat and the plastic off, took the fan shroud, carb, pipe off. Put the piston at BDC, plugged the ex. port (my plug fits snug w/o even test fitting first ),and slid the adapter into the intake, it fit too w/o a test fit. Then i started pumping away. After about 15 pumps im thinking "ok weres the pressure"? Nothing, so i spray the intake, ex., base, head gaskets etc. No leak, "what the hell" ?.....".Ohh NNOOOOO, its not". By then im tryin to pull the cvt cover off with my fingers crossed at the same time lol. I get the cover off, the starter clutch and shim out of the way and for the fisrt time i REALLY LOOK at my crank seal...Im thinking "ohh, that dont look so good". I grab the soapy water and the pump, i spray and pump away..... and its just blowin air at me singing "but just think how well it ran with blown seals" !!! It didnt even bubble the air was flowing soo fast Now i feel dumb knowing i had something so obvious i overlooked always blaming something else like the carb . I should have checked the obvious the first time i thought it may have a leak. Instead i was always trying to tune a busted motor. Man i feel stupid

Got another motor. Matched the case to a Polini Sport cylinder. Did a leak test...All good! Before port matching. After port matching

Great 2strokd - have a bone for keeping me inspired.
BTW keep your eye out on the "All about the ride" thread for my new video later today. Kind of different approach to a ride video and a tribute to 2T and Triton fans.

Not trying to hijack your thread dude, but I just went out for a nighttime ride. Had to use the neons its about 42 degrees here tonight, and I was feeling a bit warm, so the cold air felt good. Let me tell you, I thought that 70cc kit made a big difference before? I just got a taste of what it's going to be like in spring when I lean out the carb. Normally she runs rich because I tuned it on a 35 degree day, so today she ran her best since I put the kit on. MAN this thing has some takeoff power when I hit the throttle now! I can't wait til spring gets here and I can start riding her without being all bundled up like a blizzard is about to hit. It's still fun though!

Its probably getting good and broken in by now, glad you like it Skeedr all buttoned up and back on his wheels. I have some cvt tuning to do yet but i am happy with the power. Heres my frame brace i made. I would suggest one of these to anyone that wants a better handling ride

I've actually been looking at building a frame brace. How did you mount it to the frame? Same way brent did his? Where did you get that nice piece of aluminum pipe?

Post by 2strokd on Nov 23, 2009 12:41:09 GMT -5
The piece of pipe is a solid aluminum handle from a broken pipe bender i had. I welded a piece of steel pipe between the frame as a mounting point. Other than that, yea its pretty much the same way Brent did his. I like the "bolt in" idea, that way i can remove it if i want.

Skeedr's not done by any means but since ive been riding with my new set-up i figured i would share a pic. I like how much more stable it is with the frame brace and the 12inch rear wheel. I still wanna put some padding on the brace, and i still have some cvt and carb tuning to do but so far im very happy with it The 21mm Dello with manual choke was a very good upgrade. lol, its not even jetted right yet. Fired right up this morning with the choke set full with the temp at 30degrees in the garage

Good job 2T. Thanks for the update. I've been wondering what affect a bigger rear wheel would have on handling. Did you have to mod anything to make it fit?
Have a bone!

Thanks for the bone! No modding, im sure any long case Minarelli will accept a 12in wheel. I think a 13 with a low profile tire might even fit???

Thinking about a 13 on the rear but don't want to mess up the handling. BTW are you going to run this bad boy in Indy in May? I'm thinking about loading up the cameras and shooting the event.

figured I'd throw up a picture for you guys today. First real snowfall here in Wisconsin today, where the concrete was actually covered with it. I put the scooter away for the winter in a rented garage down the road a ways, but I had to have some fun first! Hope you all can get a bit more riding in before the big snowfalls come!

I woke up to about the same stuff here ;D. I couldnt help but do some drifting myself . I rear fender woulda been nice . Now i cant help but go clean my scooter and keep it out of the snow for the year...Too much salt ! It was fun though!!! All i really need is wet pavement to drift though. Doughnuts on dry pavement are fun too, but can be hard on the ole cvt....now im rambling again, sorry . Be safe out there everyone!!! Im doing this stuff in my drive ;)lol

Nice one Reign! +1
Putting them away for the winter is the saddest thing ever. lol
I'm gonna hold out as long as i can. Planning to just pull the batteries and bring them in the house. As much as the weather changes in SO MO i should be able to get on at least once a week for a bit longer. Supposed to be sunny and 38 on Saturday. i can ride in that!
