USF THAT LOOKS PHENOMINAL !! FITS RIGHT INTO THE RETRO LOOK ...Jake Jake, how screwed up is that guy's scooter? So the mechanic needs the following parts right: 1. Piston 2. Cylinder 3. Head 4. Rocker Arms/Valves/valve springs Am I forgetting anything?

Ya, I will. I'd like to send him to some of the dealers here at scoot dawg though if possible. I try to support those who have helped me.

any gains from the exhaust and carb?

any gains from the exhaust and carb? I haven't taken the scooter home yet. The Muffler Man has to put the chrome tip on the exhaust and trim the pipe by about 3 inches. I drove it about 200 feet though. In that time I noticed that I had to give it higher RPMs before I would start moving. Right now it is stock carb, airbox, and this straight pipe exhaust. As soon as I get it home, I will be installing this Mikuni TM28 carb and free-flow air filter. Now I have to make sure I have all of insurance, registration, and other documentation at the ready, because I know I am going to get pulled over for how loud this thing is! In other news, I managed to rescue my videos from the corrupted SD card. They are currently uploading to photobucket. Will post them when they're done.

If you have legal problems because of the noise, maybe your muffler guy can fab something like an old "Snuf-or-not" for when you need to be quieter. I haven't seen them on the market in years, but it wouldn't be hard to fab one. They aren't good for performance when they are closed but don't hurt when they are open.

The clicking you hear at the beginning of this one is from my electric fuel pump.
In this last video, listen to the decompression after I release the throttle.

Only one thing bugs me, and maybe I'm just looking at it wrong. But it looks like there is a hanger support going up, under the body, near the 1.5" to 1.25" tubing transition. That isn't mounted to the frame is it?
Cause if it is, something is gonna break. That pipe should be entirely supported by the engine/power unit assy, so it can pivot accordingly. Please tell me I'm wrong...

I hope you're wrong, but if you aren't wrong it's better to catch it now instead of later after something has broken.

I will double-check that when I pick it up. I believe he is using the same bracket support that was being used by the stock exhaust. Those should be ok right?

I am dreading to deal with my angry neighbors when I ride to work early in the morning though. Since I live in a townhouse, I probably won't be able to idle the scooter in my garage without waking up the whole complex either. Guess I am working on it during bankers hours

USF, I looked at an Il Bello picture on the Fly website. With Photoshop I was able to pull enough detail out of the mud to see that the stock muffler is supported from above right about where your pipe is mounted. I think you are OK. I would like to see how that mount works, would you try to get some pictures of the part of the stock mount that is attached to the scooter? It could be a clean looking way to mount after market exhausts.

When I get the scooter back (hopefully in the next couple of days), I will take some high-res photos for you that show the mount from a few angles.

Wow, that is freakin cool! I figured it would be way to big for that little engine, but I guess it works!
Not sure how that happened to your buddy's bike. I would have assumed a dropped valve, but you mentioned it was bent, so I'm baffled by what the hell happened. A big bore kit would do the trick! If he wants a cheaper route, I have a complete cyclinder/head/rockers from a P engine with 800 miles on it, $50 shipped if he is interested. (it's from an engine that had a cracked swing arm).

Wow, that is freakin cool! I figured it would be way to big for that little engine, but I guess it works! I went from a .5" crimped stock exhaust to a 1.25" exhaust and without making any other changes, it was idling and riding smoothly. I couldn't believe I did not need to rejet.
