Looks a lot like mine but I'll have to check to be sure. I keep mine plugged in all the time and plug/unplug the scoot when I go in and out of the garage.

Follow-up. I went out and checked and it is exactly like mine. My B&M dealer puts them on all his bikes - scooters and Triumphs for free.

I just ran mine up underneath the right side fairing. There's a hole there in front of and above the exhaust that I pushed it thru. If you come from the back, it's the 2nd hole in the pic. See Harry's earlier post for how he does it. You don't need to run it up around the seat.

Thanks! I'm not really sure if it would or not. We'll hear from the Great Guru Harry soon. A lot of times my ride consists of about 3 miles up to campus and back. I just routinely plug it in when I get back and don't have to worry.
Your profile doesn't say where you live. It gets cold (and bitter cold sometimes) here. To preserve battery life, I disconnect and bring the battery inside when I put the scoot away for the winter. The garage isn't heated. Every rider I know does it.

I haven't used my battery tender since I upgraded to a 12BS AGM battery and LED Brake Light. Probably the longest I've gone without riding it is a month(got 4 other bikes that need riding...LOL)
The only time I've had a hint of 'slow cranking' is if I do a 'hot' restart...I.E. The fan comes on before the engine starts.
The discharge rate on an AGM battery should be something in the neighborhood of 10% a month...a standard lead acid battery can be as high as 40% a month.
As far as how much riding to charge the battery I don't know. The battery will charge at idle if the brakes aren't on or you've installed an LED brakelight.

Good question on which one. You want a 12V - 1157 RED LED. You want all the LED's in the tip of the bulb since the bulb faces towards the rear. Some bike the bulb faces up so you get all the LED's on the side. You also have a width limit on the back hole of your lens IIRC26mm. I ordered all but 2 of my LED's from www.virtualvillage.com as I was doing 4 bikes..so the shipping from china wasn't that painful. $20 shipping for one bulb would be painful. In any case, they give the measurements of the bulbs. www.virtualvillage.com/2-red-led-car-bulbs-with-19-led&39;s-each-for-stop&47;tail-lights/sku002510-007I know Schucks Auto Parts has them and hakuin found the bulbs in Autozone as well. As far as doing the swap...it's a standard car brakelight setup. There is a rubber boot over the bulb socket..you twist the bulb socket and it comes out. A person with 'childs' hands could manage it by just reaching up underneath the back of the bike. If not..then you need to move the body. unbolt the two bolts on either side of the carb access panel and the front bolts on the passenger grab rail and the whole rear body is loose. I would suggest downloading the tech manual. Removing the body is on page 131 of the owners manual. As far as the battery being 'okay'....you'll know. If you press the starter every day and it all cranks ups fine..it's good. If every day or some days it seems like it's struggling then time to take corrective action. I bought the bike used with 1100 miles on it. The previous owner had already replaced the battery once. The LED brake light gives you an extra 2 AMP's electrical budget. Could be enough. I ride a lot in the wilderness...so I'm paranoid about getting stranded. The only thing to watch out for is if you are 'slow cranking' a lot you will damage the relay/solenoid(About $15 for a new one)

Welcome john,
Riding in the Blue Ridge mountains would be fun...lived in charlotte for a bit.

Ya got to love the mountains guys. We took the cage over to our favorite little winery yesterday to stock up. Crystal clear sky. Great view out over the 1500 ft drop. Could see over 20 miles.
John - your Blue Ridge is the southern part what we call Blue Mountain. The Great Smokies and our Alleghenies are the same although both the Blue Ridge and Smokies are a little higher. Like John Denver said - almost Heaven!

I cashed in my chips in January. My wife has to go until next June. We're thinking about moving to a warmer climate but she wants near the shore.
Have you ever gone to the gem mines? I'd like to get down there. Maybe take a long trip next summer down the Blue Ridge to Franklin County, over to Crater of Diamonds in Arkansas, across to see some friends in OK City, show my wife Ft. Sill where my son and I both were stationed, out to Nevada to see my daughter and son-in-law then home with a stop in Kansas to see an old Army buddy. Probably dreaming here.

Next thing ya know you all will be talking about eating haggis.

We are wearing our family tartan except my son-in-law who is Irish and wearing Black Watch. We have our Highland Games over the mountain in a town called Ligonier. Didn't make it this year because of rain.
Haggis! - I like some of the traditional Scottish dishes like meat pies and shortbread and have been known to take a wee bit of a single malt. Tasted haggis once - No way on God's green earth! Actually my wife has a recipe for "Americanized Haggis" that's a little more palatable.
My ancestors came to the Laurel Highlands (near here) during the French and Indian War. They served in the Highland regiments, mustered out and stayed. A lot of Scots settled in the Carolinas. Guess we like the highlands!
John - thanks for the links. Amazing Grace is great but to get the blood stirring you need about 100 pipers and 100 drummers doing Scotland the Brave!

Would like some advice on what others would do in this situation. I purchased my Hyosung from Pikes Peak Motorsports August 27 on eBay. They have been messing up the paperwork and say they can't send the title until they get the signed paperwork to the DMV. First they spelled my city wrong on the paperwork and the DMV wouldn't accept it. They sent the paperwork to me again, I received it almost two weeks ago monday sept. 14 and signed it and sent it back the same day. The first time I mailed it back next day and it cost me something like $17 to mail it. This last time I just mailed it back regular mail because it cost so much the first time. Now they are saying they have not received it. So now they have to send it again. I have no real reason to believe they are dishonest, they are a brick and mortor motorsports dealership and have good feedback on eBay. Should I start to get worried or just accept this as a normal part of business. I've been very cordial with them so far but am starting to get angry, and have told them I prefer not to have to put this transaction into dispute with my credit card company but I don't consider my purchase complete until I get the title.

You have 60 days from the point a charge first appears on your credit card statement to dispute a transaction. So a clock is running.
Various DMV's can be a PITA on nonsense details.
My name is spelled wrong on my drivers license...easier to just change my name then get the spelling corrected..LOL
Since most dealers can issue temporary tags...the "Paperwork Person" usually doesn't work every day. My Mrs's worked at an RV dealership and they had one person that worked one afternoon a week that took care of all the DMV paperwork.

Thanks Harry.
I've got temporary Colorado plates on it good until the end of October. After that it will probably be getting too cold to ride anymore.
I would just like to get the transaction completed, and with the long distance and the paperwork problems, it is taking longer than expected. I've got a little over a month before my 60 days will be up as far as the credit card dispute, hopefully by then we'll have everything worked out.

They are sending the paperwork by UPS Next Day Air (should have it Monday) and they are including a return overnight label so I don't have to pay to send it back. I am sure everything will turn out alright, it is just frustrating with the delays in the paperwork.

Whats going on with the belt John?

|
Post by harrywr2 on Sept 27, 2009 15:42:30 GMT -5
Not gonna know until you get the CVT cover off. Could be clutch is slipping. Don't even want to think about a new clutch. Sometimes the pads get a bit glazed.
22.5mm is the supposed service limit on the belt.

Did the 12,000 km service today.
Valves still where they were at 4,000km, on the left side .005 intake and .009 exhaust and and the right side .004 intake and .008 exhaust.
Belt is 23.95 mm wide, still well within the 22.5mm service limit.
Did notice the o-ring for the oil drain plug, the rubber washers for the valve cover and the diptick were a little sad...so ordered replacements.

Sorry about the belt john..$140 is a heck of a lot better price then the $327 alpha-sports wants.

this will be my first and last scoot it sounds like a black mkt on parts for these things. $327 alpha-sports what for a belt? the koreans are socking it to the usa. Best price I could find for a belt for a silverwing is $112. Same Japanese belt manufacturer..same construction, pretty close in size but not close enough. Hows $149 for a belt for a Suzuki AN400? www.scootertronics.com/pokecvtbesub.htmlLack of competition among some of the dealers is keeping parts prices high.

I've ordered a few parts from alpha-sports when I had my United Motors Powermax, alpha-sports is a joke. Maybe not alpha-sports, but their supplier is a joke. After I would order, they would say the price was too cheap and want more money. And it would take forever to get the parts from them. I just ordered two oil filters for my Hyosung from west60cycle.com just to see what kind of service I would get from them. Much better service than alpha-sports, and their prices are much more reasonable. I won't be ordering anything from alpha-sports again. Looks like Haps Cycle has even better prices if you can get the belt for $140.00. The belt is $218.35 from west60cycle, but that is still much better than $327 from alpha-sports, but $140 sounds good to me.

I'm still debating to buy it or not. Price has come down good on this 2008 Xpeed 250cc for 950$ - 995$. providence.craigslist.org/mcy/1371519400.htmlprovidence.craigslist.org/mcy/1394901621.htmlNote: there's missing panel on the left side. But I can't find parts for this type of scooter on line and it cost an arm + leg if I could find one. I rather have chinese scooter since parts are all over the net and cheap to replace. Anhoa 69xx miles and counting...diapers.
