I'm putting in about 300 miles a week, so I'm determined to have mine last at least 30K miles. I think the frame is more of a determining factor than the engine in my case. dorian, Are you talking about the Lance or the Buddy?

I would say that depends on the scooter itself to some degree. On another forum there are several people with Burgy 650's with 60,000+ miles on them. In my case I have 26,000+ miles on my 2008 SYM RV250. Larger scooter can rack up more miles generally faster than smaller ones due to there performance. Alot of the smaller CC scooter owners probably dont take there scooters on long road trips, but are more used for local transport. Likewise a Burgy 650 or a Silverwing is overkill for a local grocery run machine. Any scooter can last forever if you take the time to fix it and do the upkeep. I would say 5000+ miles on a 50cc would be good life for the average owner, 150-250cc's once you past 20,000 miles you are doing pretty good, over this and I would say 50000 miles is alot for the average scooter. Also depends on age, those miles I said above would be for scooters less than 5 years old. A 20 year old Helix who knows how many miles you could rack up.

My Korean scooter has 13,000 miles on it. This winter it gets torn down to remove carbon deposits and check tolerances within the engine. It may receive a larger piston and cylinder but am not committed to that yet.

Just turned 10,000 miles on my Carino (the red one) and the engine is running great. Oil changed every 600 miles for 6000 now every 1000 miles - Rotella T 15w40 and 20% Marvel Mystery Oil. 45 mph @ 6200 rpm most of the time. So far I've replaced the clutch assy - $50, starter - $50 and battery - $60. So for $1260 (not including consumables) I've had transportation for 11 months - I think it was worth it.

I have one customer who has 21000 mi on his Lance Milan - only replaced two engines, both wheels and tires, front fender, front board, handle bar cover (top and bottom), front suspension, rear caliper, rear swing arm, 3 mufflers, 1 seat, both kick stand, 1 side panel twice, both mirrors, lost the box, cdi, starter,coil,...and many headlight bulbs... still running...he really likes his bike - about the only original piece left is the floorboard and frame... He says he's going to get a new bike when he hits 50K mi, by that time he'll have paid for three of them...

For the majority of scooters they get sit up and thrown away at some point and then for the people that care about them they ride the wheels off it till It cant go any more. For either scenario as long as the owner is satisfied with the use and the experiances from riding their scooter thats all that really matters.

I had 12,000 on my one chinese scooter before I sold it and the guy is still riding it with 70 to 90 mile trips and running strong. My blue chinese scoot is now at almost 13,000 and my 2t is at 8,000 miles it is Korean UM XSpeed50R/SF. I will be out of commission for about 7 to 12 months with rehab so I guess they will get a long rest LOL Have to learn how to walk and support the thing all over. Going to be hard with one (1) leg but I am going to do it..

Chinese- 15,000 miles Japanese- 30,000 miles this is a pretty conservative estimate. The longest miles so far i know for a scooter was a Honda Helix, it has 130K miles before the owner quit riding it. i'm expecting 200K+ miles top for my morphous...that is if i don't quit or outgrown riding scooters.

Seen more than one Helix with over 100,000 miles on it. One on craigslist in Houston with 97,000. Chinese scoots not so much. Doesn't say much when owners are happy to hit the 10,000 mile mark on 250 touring scoots.

My E-Charm hit 19,000 miles a couple of days ago, and I'm sure I'll hit 20k before the snow flies. A few Saturdays ago I put 425 miles on it in a single day. I often ride it at WOT on the freeway and it is showing no signs of giving up on me.
